So who has seen Sherlock (the BBC series, not the American movie with Robert Downy Jr.), and what do you think of it? Thoughts on Season One and Season Two, and expectations for Season Three?

Please be considerate of those of us who haven't watched the whole thing yet and put spoilers in spoiler tags. ;)

I like Sherlock. I like Benedict Cumberbatch's performance. I like the cinematography. It's well-done, very much so. And very British.

I don't like how long we've had between seasons. I'm losing interest now - it's been 18 months since the last season - and I think I'm going to try Elementary. =P

I love this series! ^_^ The end of s2 e3 is an awful cliffhanger!!!. The cinematography is brilliant.

@Mel - Doesn't Elementary have a female Watson? :roll:

I have heard so much about this series, but I haven't watched it yet! It's on my list though. :)

Oh my goodness!!! Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal as Holmes is epic! I was so shocked at how well he pulled off the role. I had my doubts when I heard about this series (I need to watch season 2 and 3, only seen the first one so far). A modern Sherlock? A modern Watson? Hmmm.....

But I was so happy with the camaraderie of our MC and supporting character! Plus, Cumberbatch adds all the little quirks that make Sherlock, well, Sherlock.

All I can say about this series is ASDJDHGLDJFHSJKDLGdlsfajklhajldfjfhjldf WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME AND DESTROY MY LIFE?!?!?!?!

This series is absolutely incredible. Benedict Cumberbatch is to die for and John is super adorable. AND THE STUPID ENDING TO THE SECOND SEASON. WHY?!?! I thought the year long hiatus after the first season was bad, but this is getting ridiculous. . .

Okay, first to fan-girl a bit.

Sherlock is wonderful! Love it! John, oh my goodness! Sherlock, what a brilliant idiot! Dialogue and writing and the plays off the old Doyle mysteries=brilliant! Must say, I'm a bit worried about the future of the show, what with them introducing you-know-who so early and already taking care of that whole THING. I understand they did it because they weren't sure if it would fly and all that, but...but still! Oh, and you-know-who is the most brilliant interpretation of his character that I have ever seen.

Also, has anyone gone and looked up the blogs? XD There's one for John--his casebook--, one for Sherlock--his sleuthing stuff--, and even one for dear Molly. (I love Molly, btw.)

Lastly (well, second to lastly) is Lastrade. I love Lastrade. He is my favorite of the characters aside from John and Sherlock. (And I love them more for their friendship than anything else.) He wasn't so brilliant in ACD-verse, but he's wonderful in the new one. He's one of the few guys who has Sherlock more 'figured out' than Sherlock thinks anyone can, and if he were one of us fans, he might walk around wearing an 'I Believe in Sherlock' shirt. :D

:/ Okay, now to possibly get my head bitten off:

I like Elementary. I do, really. I got over the fact that Watson is a girl and that it's in America and all that. It's not quite as clever and fast-paced, but it does have a certain Holmes allure and, hey, at least we get more than three episodes in a season! Possible spoiler here, more for Sherlock watchers than Elementary watchers: Only thing is, they too have started to introduce Moriarty and I am so worried because there is no possible way this Moriarty will be able to stand up against THAT Moriarty. Also, I missed the last few episodes of the most recent season and have no idea what's happening.

Well, I disagree with many things in Sherlock, but it's the best one I've seen. ;-)

I love the blogs! The comments are downright hilarious!

I basically live on tumblr so you get ALL the Sherlock fandom stuff there. Moriarty was absolutely brilliantly done. I mean, you can't expect any less from Steven Moffat (who is also the brilliant writer of Doctor Who seasons 5-present).

YES. Moriarty was brilliant. A bit confusing there in season 2, episode 3, though.

I think it'll clear up when we start seeing the new season. I'm hoping they explain everything.

The whole question about the last episode is, how far ahead of Moriarty was Sherlock? There are some people who say Sherlock expected Moriarty to kill himself on the hospital roof. There's also supposedly this whole cipher that Moriarty gave Sherlock, based on the fairytale book he found in the kids' room (http://eva-christine.tumblr.com/post/32560017981/reichenbach-explanation-richard-brook-was-real)...the things a deprived fandom will do.

o.O I don't think Moriarty is dead.

I also think it is extremely significant that it happened at Bart's and that Sherlock listed all the people he cared about except for Molly. I also wonder if Sherlock was actually conscious when John came rushing over. :bawl:

Mustaches are cool now, that's why.

(And very in keeping with the Sherlock Holmes tradition.)

But...this isn't Doctor Who, and since when is John 'cool'? (Wonderful-wonderful-wonderful, yes; but cool? Hm.) Is he supposed to have a mustache, or have old television Sherlock characters worn mustaches? (I've not seen many)

Maybe it was just a way to show how much time had passed. In the books it was three years, you know.

Many actors who played Watson wore mustaches and he is described in the stories as having a mustache. I have no idea why they decided to do it with Martin Freeman. (I'm sure we'll find out though.)

*glances over posts* Okay, I think I slightly derailed the conversation...However, I found a picture of this mustachioed John and someone had been pointing out all the aspects of his new character 'after Sherlock' and one of the things was 'look, I've moved on and am seriously okay. I even grew a mustache to prove it. It made me laugh...Not sure why, exactly.

I love BBC's Sherlock! I prolly won't get to see the new season as it's airing, but I hope to...I'm going to try to...otherwise I'll have to wait for a really long time to see anything.

Did you like the Christmas Special they aired?

*oh, look, it moved my post...*

I watched the Christmas special. I don't even watch Sherlock. I wath just curious. I have just proved that memes are sufficient to educate someone on a series to the point that they can watch a piece out of order and understand practically everything about it completely. ;) I've been waiting for the next season eagerly, so I can see new memes from it everywhere.

MEMES CANNOT SUM UP THE EPICNESS OF SHERLOCK.

Okay, now that I have THAT out of the way...I don't know if I'll be able to watch it at any point in the future--the new episodes, that is. I'm hoping so, because I don't know if I can wait. Then again, people who started the series when it first came out have been waiting about two years for this latest series, so I shouldn't complain. XD I've been watching for a year/year and a half I think.

My sister went and showed me the first fifteen minutes of last episode of Series 2 and that was IT. It was awful. So then I checked the season out from the library and watched it without her. XD

What do you guys think of this version of Moriarty? 'Cause I think he's absolutely brilliant and I watch the "pool" scene from the first series over and over and over again.

Anyone watch "The Empty Hearse" yet?
I really like how they interacted with all the theories about how Sherlock faked his death, but you're left wondering how he actually did it.
Poor John has gone through so much but it really is funny the way he and Sherlock reunite and how Sherlock messes with him when they're in the train.
Oh Benedict Cumberbatch...

"The Empty Hearse" was amazing, but I loved "The Sign of Three" even more! I was in total suspense during this whole episode. Plenty of humor and a twist. I loved it.

Ah yes, I love this version of Moriarty. He definitely is very... clever. Every move is so calculated, yet there is always something unexpected. You never know what he's going to do next, but he has it all planned out.

On Season 3: how do they manage to keep making it better and better?
I cried during "His Last Vow." Wow. So well done. I really, really like Mary, even if she's got a past. Her character is very interesting and I love the way she interacts with both John and Sherlock. And bringing back Moriarty? That could go any number of ways...

oh, and did anyone else catch that reference Mycroft made to having another brother? "you know what happened to the other one," I believe he said.

That Moffat has found something else to torture us with. ;) But seriously, it's clear there was another brother who didn't turn out quite as 'well' as Sherl and Myc.

'K, so I've watched The Empty Hearse and the beginning of The Sign of Three, I don't suppose we can "title" our spoiler tags with episode names? That would be helpful, thanks!

THe Empty Hearse:
I love it! Sherlock is such an idiot and I want to slap him so hard sometimes, but he's "spectacularly ignorant in a nice way", so I still love him. and John, poor John! ('Nuff said, right?)

What do ya'll think of Mary, then? I love her. Which is good, because I thought I might hate her, because...well marrying off our favorite characters is a hard task for anybody and they've done well. (Let's hope it lasts, unlike classic Watson.)

I LOVE LASTRADE. Just had to get that out of the way. I love that he hugged Sherlock, and that he was looking after John...and Anderson. Which brings me to: What in the world is with Anderson??!! He's completely cracked! He's like the worst fans on their worst days and and and...whatwhatwhat??! I didn't like him, now I kind of do, and I actually don't know what to think at all, really.

Oh, and Molly's new boyfriend? What do you guys think? I love Lastrade's face when she tells him. Dear Lastrade.

Alright. I'm good, I'll shut up now. At least until I've seen the rest of S3.

Caeli: I agree- I really love Mary! I think its because she has John's admiration and appreciation for Sherlock, but also understands Sherlock so that nothing he does surprises her. It makes her interactions with the two of them very interesting! I think you'll like how they keep building her in the last episode!

I bought the first two seasons to watch with my family in February, but we just haven't found the time to watch them yet!

I've completely neglected this thread...

I've watched all of Season 3 now and loved all of it.

MORIARTY??? WHAT IN THE WORLD?

And Mary and John are so wonderful! I love them! I forgive Mary completely. Jury's still out on whether or not I forgive Sherlock. XD

Aaaand now we get to wait for an eternity before the next episode. ;)
