I'm holding a short story writing contest soon.

(Soon being a very loose term for when other running competitions are over and when I get results back from this poll and when I get my act together to get a blog post written for it.)

I don't have all the rules and details for you yet, that will all appear on my blog. However, I do need help. The short stories will be based on a song -

- and I can't choose just one. :P

So! I've turned it over to all you awesome HWers. :D The poll contains all the nominees for potential writing inspiration. Which one would you most love to write a story for? Have at it! :D

Note: I've allowed three options, and if I don't get a definite answer, I'll make another poll with the top results from this one.

I haven't voted yet because I haven't listened to all the music, but I want to present a case for not using music from movie soundtracks. (Or music that was specifically written for movie soundtracks.)

I actually don't have a very good case. But it goes something like this. Because the music is already written for a specific story, and to invoke specific emotions it is a) futile, b) pointless to create something new for this music because it already had a story and the best story you could create to go with it would be the one that's already been created! (If any of that made any sense.)

Like, I said, it's not a very good case.

I did take this into consideration, Katie, however I included it because I know that some people like to write stories to certain movie tracks purely based on the music itself, not the plot of the film. I've left it up to the votes of HWers, since I'm sure their preferences will undoubtedly make it clear which one people want to write original stories to. :)
