Atsui (@Michael): I was second in command of a company in the 52nd foot battalion--

Ada: *with thick sarcasm* Of the grand and glorious army of Vestraten....

Atsui: *glares again* --of an army no more grand and glorious than any other. *gestures to the green thread braided into his hair* This is an indication of my honorable discharge. I have been a farmer for the past several years, but Ada managed to upset my peaceful existence--

Ada: Glad you didn't call it a life, as it certainly wasn't.

Atsui: --by requesting my help in an... information gathering mission. Who are you?

Michael: Mmhmm... *nods* I have not been a part of anything so formal as that, but I do have some skill with a weapon.

Ada: *rolls eyes* 'Some skill with a weapon'. Oh, indeed. *begins toying with her shortstaff*

Atsui: *raises eyebrows* What weapon, precisely, do you have skill with? I am best with a shortsword or crossbow.

Michael: *briefly raises one eyebrow, then regains control* Long-sword. I can use a bow as well, but I'm not very good at it: my training focused on the sword.

Atsui: Excellent. Good swordsmanship can mean the difference between life and death in most encounters.

Ada: *dryly* Unless, of course, a magic-user simply snaps your neck from a distance. I could demonstrate, if you--

Atsui: *touches a small pouch at his waist significantly*

Ada: *glares, but falls silent*

Guilo: We're just here because we're really cool.

Tanner: Yep, that about covers it.

Me: *calling off-thread* Simperer! You may have found a friend! Come back!

*Simperer begrudgingly enters*

Me: Thank you. Now go talk.

Simperer: *avoids Lyrous and company* Salutations. @Ada: I'm interesting? How so?

Me: *sucks Breindel into thread*

Breindel: @Ada: You have a shortstaff? What is the difference between that and a quarterstaff, may I ask? *she twirls her quarterstaff expertly. Noticing the Simperer, she sneakily walks as far away from him as possible*

Alastair: Hello Sir Phil, Sir Will, Sir Michael. I'm Alastair! And...I'm not really sure why I'm here... other than to entertain my author.

(the ‘second’ black rod had split in the middle and each half had snapped into place on the end of the staff) *snaps her wrist backward, and the staff collapses again*

Atsui: *ignores Ada, glances at Phil* Who are you, young one?

Lyrous: So many people so, fast, Head, Spinning. (Shackes him all over) OK good know, greetings all! (Turns to Alister) Because I am a husband and a father. Its my job to lend my family strength and provide a strong foundation upon which they can stand. Don't fathers do that where you came from?

Jach: SO MANY PEOPLE! A room just don't feel right till its filled! If people keep filling this place out it just might begin to feel like home! (Turns to Lady Abigail) How can a place not have families thats, so, sad. Who do they lean on when one of their twenty brothers or sisters dies?

Bellus: (Walks up behind the Simperer and Begins to poke him with a stick)

Me: Leave the henchmen alone Bellus, I'm pretty sure weapons aren't aloud in here.

Simperer: @Ada: I'm pleased at make your acquaintance. Objectionable talents? *smiles* I take it your skill range is something...unusual? I would be most felicitous if you elaborated on your cryptic allusion.

Breindel: That is incredible! I don't believe such weapons exist in my world...such a shame! I'd very much like to learn how one operates...

Alastair: *tilts head* Lend strength? I--don't understand. Fathers where I'm from? No.....I saw my father murder an innocent girl as a sacrifice to one of our gods. Our caste system didn't exactly support nurturing relationships........

Me:@Jach: There are families, but no sense of family loyalty or devotion. They would turn on each other immediately if one was accused of something. (It's for Alace's character arc later). Hmmhmm....Well, believe it or not, most families have many children, (as insurance, if course) and if one died, there would be almost no tears, since there are so many more.

Simperer: *jumps at Bellus's prodding and sends a withering glance over his shoulder*@me: please, please let me--

Me: Nuh-uh. Not in here. Cool your jets.

Simperer:

Simperer: but he poked-

Me:Shah! I said no! Talk to Ada.

Simperer: I'm watching you, Bellus.

Phil: ... *nods a bit* Hi. Good to meet you.

(@Atsui) I- I'm Phil. I'm not really anything special... Except I was one of a few hundred people found to be immune to whatever disease it was that wiped out most of the human population.

Michael: I have seen a few priests in the world I frequent, but I have yet to see them use their magic. *pauses* I take it that pouch holds something that might... counteract magic?

Michael: (@Will) *face twitches and he adjusts glasses* *mutters to self* (Sir Guy...) Your last name wouldn't happen to be Scarlet, would it?

*muffled groan*

Will: (@Atsui) *eyes narrow slightly* Never trust too easily. People aren't worth it. However, it was a false accusation...of course.

Antreo: (@Phil) Don't worry. You'll get used to being here soon enough. Though....you, you don't carry that disease, do you? *flutters handkerchief nervously around face*

Me: (@Mark) Uh oh. I blew it already, didn't I?
Will: (@Michael) What is it to you if it is or isn't?

Phil: *thinks* Well... I think they told me that the disease either latches on to you and starts invading your body, or it has nothing to do with you. So it'd be impossible for an immune person to carry it, unless they had a vial of it or something like that. *shrugs*

Kaida: *covertly hands Bellus a bigger stick*

Me: (@Zoe) Actually, things are going better than I expected. 'Tis not been blown from Michael's perspective at least.

Michael: (@Will) I've heard of both a Will Scarlet before, and also an enemy of his named Sir Guy. Scarlet and the company he kept created quite the reputation for themselves. Your Uncle was especially famous... some might say infamous.

Me: (@Zoe) (Then again... maybe Michael just blew it. XD)

Alastair: *notices Kaida giving Bellus a larger stick* *begins laughing*

Ada (@Breindel): The weapon is dependent on certain elements of our magic system, so I doubt it would work for you.
(@Simperer): Unusual talents? Yes, you could say so. I'm what's known as a wizard-assassin. *takes Simperer aside* The details are not to be known to the general public, but my powers include *fades off into a whisper* *Simperer grows a despicable smile*

Atsui (@Phil): If you are one of but a few to have survived a destructive disease along the lines you speak of, I would say you are 'someone special'.
(@Michael): What I have in the pouch is simply a quasi-magical powder my friend Egisto gave me. I was reminding Ada of what had occurred the last time she grew impatient and tried to kill someone.
(@Will): That is what I assumed. It is not that I do not trust people, but my tendency is to not share much information about myself. Unless, of course, it's in a conclave of other characters overseen by their authors.

Bellus: (Smiles mischievously as he looks at the bigger stick)

Me: I know you dont like people like that Bellus, But, If Lyrous is behaving so can you.

Bellus: (Pokes Ada with bigger stick)

Lyrous: False gods who except human sacrifice we can can deal with that too. (Lyrous face contorts into a fey grin, as he sheaths his hand in flame.

Michael: Pity. Having an advantage over the priests would come in handy.

Phil: *shrugs a bit* *hint of a smile* I suppose...but only at a genetic level, and I really had nothing to do with that.

Michael: One might just as well say you are "a freak of nature."

Me: That... that's a discouraging and morbid way of putting things, but not necessarily true. We don't know Phil's story.

Michael: Come on, you know I'm right.

Me: Not necessarily--

Phil: *right eyebrow quirks a bit* Well.. I suppose some people would call me that, though I don't see it that way. *eyes dart away from Michael and then back* That makes it sound like it was all left to chance.

Will: (@Michael) *eyes narrow momentarily as he watches Michael for a moment* It's Gamwell. Scarlet is an unfortunate nickname Much gave me that stuck. Some would say Robin isn't infamous enough. (@Atsui) If you trust people, they'll betray you.

Michael: I think I'm inclined to agree.

Phil: Apparently there's a genetic trait in my genome that rendered me immune to the virus--I didn't understand all the mechanics of it. Just...whatever it was set me apart from my family enough that they died from it without me.

Lyrous: I'm a kinetic. I can sense and manipulate the flow and transference of energy around my self. For example I can convert the chemical energy in my body into the heat energy within this flame. (causes the flame to expand) Or disperse the heat energy within this flame extinguishing it. (The flame disperses) It is a genetic trait that occurs in humans, Van, and animals in Skalahseh. It is considered a blessing from Yah (God) by the Faith, Some however might call me a freak of nature. (@Micheal)

Me: They are Warrior Clergy, And as a group have a wide verity of skills, However beyond banishing demons, Aiding in the arrest of Criminals, And Overthrowing false gods. They are kind of useless. Try asking one for advice on woman and watch the blank stares you get. Well Lyrous will probably give you some pseudo-philosophical weirdness but hes just as clueless as the rest.

Ada: *whirls and whacks Bellus' hand away, sending the stick flying*

Me: Don't! No further! There is to be no fighting in this room.

Ada (@Me): Caea dy geg! *glares and turns back to Simperer*

Atsui (@Michael): That seems to me to be an absurd over-generalization.
(@Lucado): You, sir, strike me as a mastermind of some type. *casually rests hand on the hilt of his sword* Perhaps you would care to discuss what you do?

Alastair: Kine- what? This is beyond me. I understand about the energy thing, though...Well...a little...Ok not really.

Me: *implants understanding of what Lyrous said into Alastair's brain*

Alastair: Oh! That's cool!

Breindel: Freak of nature conversation? I'd better join the club. *winks mischievously*

Me: Did Breindel just wink?? I missed something!

Simperer: *smiles at Ada's outburst* You read my mind exactly. @Jakorosin: No fighting? Says who? Does torture count...?

Me: @DawnBringer: haha nice description there...your book sounds really awesome. I'd like to read it someday if it's published. If it's not...publish it so I can read about Lyrous's adventures!

Lyrous: (@ Simperer and Ada) You don't want to fight Bellus, he cheats. Trust me hes seen so much combat in his time. He is the least of us as a warrior, but the most of us as a tactician. You'd be best to ignore his prodding he is trying to geode you, people in your line of work have earned a special place in his heart. Early in his life he and his sister where tortured by bandits, His sisters face was disfigured because of this. More recently he was captured and tortured by Deamonists seeking to gain information from him about our order. Knowing no man can stand up to torture without cracking he bit out his own tongue. Torture is the most despicable of tactics to him. Same way I feel about Lawyers, but thats another story altogether.

Bellus: (Smiles wide , @ Simperer A wicked cunning shimmering in his eyes)

Jach: (Looks worried violence might erupt) On a lighter note, Anyone want to see me juggle scimitars?

Kaida: *listens to all Lyrous has to say* *hands Bellus a pointier stick*

Me and Jach: (IN Unison) Don't encourage him!

Kaida: Why not?

Will: (@Michael) *short laugh* How would you have him be more infamous. Me: randomish question, I grant you. Could go somewhere interesting, though...
Me: (@Mark) *now intensely curious* Do tell!

Phil: *nods, and tries to keep a blank expression* What...if I can ask...what happened in your case?

Michael: (@Will) *waves hand dismissively* Oh, there are ways. But tell me, is there-- is there any way I can be of service to you and your friends?

Me: (@Zoe) Um... never mind. Michael said the wrong thing 'cause I misread Will's words. Maybe I was tired. Anyway, /now/ it is probably good that Will can read Michael's mind (or hear this conversation) because Michael just insinuated Robin's ability to create an unethical change in bandit-policy. At least he's smart enough to be obtuse and brush off the matter.

Simperer: *scowls at Bellus*

Me: wow, congratulations, Bellus. You unnerved him. He's got nothing to say.

Alastair: *grinning ear-to-ear and plopping down near Jach's feet* I do!!!

Me: (@Mark) Oh, it didn't seem like he said the wrong thing...

Antreo: (@Phil) It was nothing so devastating, I'm sure. But my father died recently, before his time, I suspect through my uncle's machinations. And his death makes me constantly afraid for my sister's life.

Phil: *nods* That sounds very unnerving. *quietly* And sad. *breaks eye contact* ...I had a sister, too. So I know what it's like worrying about one.

Guilo: I have a brother, somewhere... But I don't know what happened to him.
