Welcome to Holy Worlds, Lady Abigail! Who are your favorite authors? Is fantasy your favorite genre to write in?

Thank you Elly, Jonathan, and Balec! I'm glad to be here!
Hmm...my three favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Bryan Davis. :book: I hope to be as good an author as they are someday...
Yes, fantasy is my favorite genre, both to read and write, because I get to research interesting things like Aztec civilizations and destroying angel mushrooms! (and create fun monsters like Elquen!) ;)

Tolkien and Lewis are two of my favorite authors. I still need to read Bryan Davis. I hope to soon. :D

The monsters are one of my favorite parts of fantasy, too. ;)

Greetings, Abigail! :salute: What are your current works in progress? Also, how many of Davis' books have you read? Are you one of the ones who have read all of them, or are you like me and slowly catching up with all of the books he's published?

Thank you, Bushmaid and Atrea!
I have one one WIP right now, titled "Alastair: Fireheart" after the title character. I'm hoping to post chapters here for feedback soon!
Well, I own all of Dragons in our Midst, Oracles of Fire, Children of the Bard (that are published so far), and the Dragons of Starlight series (he signed them!! :dieshappy: ) so...I still have to read Tales from Starlight, and the rest of the Children of the Bard books. So...I've read most of them. Which ones have you read, and who's your favorite characters? (For me it's Sapphira Adi for OoF and either Koren or Cassabrie for DoS.)
@Jonathan: yes, you should! They are very good, I particularly like Dragons of Starlight series.
Heehee...the monsters are fun. It's the locations that always kill me though...my locations are always so horrible! o.O :)

Oh boy. Well, you asked for it:
"Alastair: Fireheart" is my attempt to remedy our society's view of true love. Which is funny, because it isn't a romance. But I see love as how God sees us, it's a passion, a sacrifice. We seem to see it as some stupid, mushy, fuzzy feeling that can be tossed out. I hate that. So, Alastair, my MC, is coming from a society of castes and no devotion, and his character arc ends with him giving a great sacrifice to save someone else's life. (I haven't worked out the details yet). The main subplot is that with God on our side, we never have to be afraid. (Alastair goes from being scared of everything to a fearless defender of mankind (hence the name Alastair).)

Thank you, thank you, thank you! :dieshappy: I found out about Holy Worlds through a link on Kingdom Pen, which was referred to me by a friend and fellow writer.
Yes, I do (or used to do...i still practice randomly) foil fencing. Last year I got first place in our group's tournament. :dieshappy: do you fence? I want to learn how to use a quarterstaff.

Welcome to Holy Worlds, Lady Abigail! It's lovely to have you join us here. :)

What part of the writing process do you love the most, as in writing, plotting, character development, world building etc? :)

Oooh, fun! I used to dress up a lot as an Elf, a pirate, a fine lady in a grand dress, a book character, etc. I just don't have time now. :P :(

I've read DioM, Echoes from the Edge, Dragons from Starlight, Tales from Starlight, Oracles of Fire except Bones of Makaidos, and the chapters from Song of the Ovulum that don't have Joran and Selah in them ( :P It's complicated...) I like Nathan Shepherd and Darryl (from Echoes from the Edge) the best, probably. Marcelle from Tales from Starlight is a fascinating character as well, though.

@Jonathan: Hmm...I don't know, they are uninteresting the way I describe them... :P

@Aratrea: Heehee the covers on the "Echoes from the Edge" books freak me out...I've been afraid to pick them up. Are they very good? Ohohoh Tales of Starlight!! I'm dying to read them!! Marcelle? Reallyyyyyyyy.......... :)

@Calenmiriel: well, if one is never proven wrong, then one can never learn, yes? Haha if that's the case, then I need to learn a LOT.....Oh, I think HW is awesome. My family cahn't get me to shut up about it!. :dieshappy:

The pirate costume, I think. :D Or the random, various book characters. :) I would even role play whoever I was dressed as. :D

Thank you, thank you, thank you! ;) I'm glad I joined too! I have learned a lot about writing by peeking in on all y'all's world threads. Yeah, I foil fence. (Foils are the swords in Princess Bride, only ours aren't sharp). :D It's not that hard, it's sortof like....chess and aerobics and....I dunno. All I know is it's fun! :dieshappy: What do you like doing?

 :D Thanks! It IS really fun. I love doing it. I need to get back into practicing...I've slacked off lately...Ooh, I love to draw!! What do you usually end up drawing? *for me it's people, with the occasional dragon*
Rappelling? Oh my. Doesn't that involve...heights? :pale: You're very brave!
One of my friends canoes...I haven't tried it yet. I kinda want to. Is it fun?
. Kansas dursn't have large bodies of water? o.O Where I live there's 5: H.O.M.E.S. ;) *hint hint*

I usually draw humans and dragons too... Only I can't draw men for some reason. :P I think I have a problem with making characters masculine.
Rappelling actually isn't that scary. Once you're on rope, it's very secure. And fun. :dieshappy: I love dropping like a rock and scaring the belayer into thinking I'm falling. :halo:
Yes, canoeing is the greatest fun! :D It's also very tiring if one hasn't worked their arms enough (that'd be me...)
Teehee, there aren't any Great Lakes in Kansas. ;) It's all rolling pastures and fields. And some trees here and there. XD

 :dieshappy: You do? *sparkly glitter streamer cannon goes off* I can do men's faces...the soft lines of women's and children's jawlines I find a little harder...and the long hair... but I can do both if the mood strikes me. Do you prefer drawing realism or manga?
o.O if you say so...I got butterflies just thinking about it... That's hilarious! HeheHeehee!
Canoeing...Hmm. I shall have to investigate this...
OooooOOOOOoooooooo, sounds like a good place for a short film shoot. There aren't any Great Lakes in Kansas? Whaaaaat? *laughs* I never heard of such a thing!

Haha, I can't draw manga to save my life. I'll stick to realism. ;) It's good for book illustrations. *Nod*
It's kind of like flying....down. ;)
*Grins* Well, if you come down to shoot a film, be sure to drop by our place! XD

Oh fine then, rub it in. ;) :D
*scratches head, trying to figure out how in the heck to put up a link* If I knew how, I would, but I don't, so I cahn't.
Aw, I love that video! It's so fun! *and I can sympathize with trying to get girls to look guy-ish...I've done it many times* Probably the most awkward time was when I had to get my BFF to look like Frodo Baggins... :) That was madness.
If I manage to figure out this linky business, I shall post The Adventures of Dr. Disappear.

It's the hyperlink or whatever you call that at the top of the page. You can copy and paste it into a post like so
posting.php?mode=reply&f=22&t=7937
or you can embed it using the URL button like this
Put some words here and take out the space between url and =

Hope that helps! :D
