I'm going to see the movie tonight (It's finally out in the cheap theatre  ), and will let you guys know what I think. I've decided to try something, and that is watching the movie first before reading the books.

*Laughs at Varon* Just this once. ;)

I came out of the theatre with mixed feelings. Both my dad and I were glad we had waited until it came out in the cheap theatres and only spent two dollars each to get in.

The whole concept is.... disturbing. It is rather gory.... and I was closing my eyes quite a bit. I want to find out what happens next, but I am not sure if I should, because I don't know if I should expose myself to that kind of stuff. So yeah, mixed feelings about it. I shall have to ponder it some more before deciding if I will read the whole trilogy or not.

I was somewhat disappointed with the ending.
If it had ended "happily" I wouldn't have liked it because there was basically no way of having a happy ending.
But on the other hand it it could have had a sad ending which is in my opinion would have been more effective and actually less depressing then the actual ending that was sort of in between happy and sad.

Agreed %100!

 Gack! Peeta fan! *runs away* ;) I liked Gale better and hated how the author just dropped him right out of the story. o.O

How could she have kept Gale in the story when it was Katniss's POV and she was nowhere near him? He's in the second and third a lot, and he's epic.
(I like Peeta... :P )

(I like Peeta too... Mind you, I also really like Gale)

*Laughs* It wasn't that bad, Rosey.... Was it? My brain has been slightly twisted after watching/reading so many violent movies/books....and having two older brothers who I do everything with.... :P
The books are good. I would encourage you to read them, even if it was only to broaden the styles of literature that you've read... Just my opinion though, you can leave it or take it :D

I read the first book in about four hours and loved it. :D I love the fact that it's very easy to read and a quick read. My parents say I can see the movie now. *excited* :D (Oh, and for all you who didn't see the movie, but have netflix - it's on netflix now. :D )

At first I didn't like Peeta very much, but he grew on me. Gale is alright. It did get a little annoying as Katniss kept rambling on about her feelings about Peeta - is he going to kill me? does he love me? is the romance staged, or does he really care for me? I hope the movie lives up to my expectations. We'll see. As for the book, it's going on my 'favorite books' shelf. :D

I thought Katniss pondering if the romance was staged was the pot calling the kettle black. :P She never cared for Peeta, and staged all the romance mostly by herself. [/rant] :x

Doesn't she end up with him in the final book?

She does. :P Personally I thought it was a rather paltry ending, relationship-wise. Gale flits off and... yeah, no one really knows what happens to him. Amnesiac Peeta moves in with Katniss and Katniss... loves him? o.O When did that actually happen? [/rant again] ;)

I didn't like Peeta in the films at all, so not happy about this. ;) But in the film, you don't see much of Gale really. I haven't ever read the books.

That was after Gale came up with the two stage bomb idea to kill the medics that killed Prim. So, he goes off and lives his own life while Katniss and Peeta try to put themselves back together. When did Katniss start to love Peeta? Probably in the second book somewhere.

I think it was in the first book, while she was helping him in the Games and stuff. She was just denying it to herself.
And the books are infinitely better than the movies. (The first one, anyway. Obviously I haven't seen the second one yet.) Steph, you should definitely read them.

Okay, that's what I wasn't quite sure of.
