Azlyn, can you compile a list of those people, and send them through to me? I need them for Andrew. Basically, it thinks the user no longer exists, so it's 'disappeared' their posts. So I need to send them to Andrew, so he can fix it.

Yeah, that's pretty much what happened from a technical standpoint. Unfortunately that was something neither Andrew nor I saw coming in the least... Every big tech project's gotta have one huge mishap... hopefully that's our only one.

A note to people changing threads: Please update the other mods on what threads/rooms you have already worked through so that people do not duplicate your work and change the posters around again. If in doubt, check the Moderation Control Panel for that room. If someone's been changing post authors, it'll show up in the log.

You read the posts and find out who really wrote them...either from memory, or whatever other detective skills you have. At least that's the only way I know of.

Elanor has come up with some other ways of determining who wrote what... But it didn't all stick in my head. Feel free to ask her or join us in the mod room if you want to help out, Lady E.

Yeah, that's pretty much all I do. You can also look at user notes to see if there's any name changes to tell you who it is.

Was your short story on sci-fi, Lady E? If so, none of your posts should have vanished--they should just be under LukeLC's name. Did you check the archives just in case?

Chat is probably irreparable at this point. It is in need of a complete overhaul, but that's a separate phase. In the meantime we will make sure one chat remains functional, but it probably won't be Fantasy's, as Fantasy's is having issues that the other forums aren't.

You can still talk into fantasy and be heard in Sci-fi though. It's like a two-way mirror! *has fun doing that*

Is anyone else having a problem with having to login every time you come back after being gone for a couple hours or longer? Even when I check the box to stay logged in, I still have to login again the next time I come back.

Check your cookies, and search for holyworlds.org. You should see a few in there, prepended with "phpbb3". Make sure you're not blocking cookies for this site.

I'm just wondering if it is just me, but I when I press the View your posts button in HF, nothing comes out even though I have an account still.

Mopa, I think it's because your posts are under a different username. On mine it is only showing up the posts I made on HF after the change.

I haven't posted anything in SF, or HF after the change.

So that is why nothing appears in "View you posts," because your posts aren't showing up as yours right now.

New posts you make will register under your current name, unless I am mistaken. Moderators will just have to be careful to not change the author identities of posts made after the Great Change.

Here's an ... oddity ... I discovered:

My UCP on HWSF seems to list multiple boxes of PM drafts and to let me put myself in any of several restricted groups. Screenshot attached (of the whole page, while the static background image only appears in one place, which explains why the background is largely white).

The multiple PM drafts problem has existed for quite a while.

Nope! I have it too, right now, so I just steer clear of the ML hall.


As Mark said, the multiple PM drafts buttons on SF is a known problem from awhile ago. As for the rest, what it is showing you is all the groups. But if you tried to join them, it wouldn't work. I tried it, and the forum won't let you select anything. It's showing that to me, too, but without the white.

That's just bizarre...

Andrew is working on the disappeared users/posts glitch, so hopefully he'll turn something up. Sorry about that, E!

Updated ML permissions on SF. Poor people had no powers at all.
Seriously, I only know how to check part of these permissions by rote; what I do best is trouble-shooting. So other things might be messed up, but going through it all piece by piece is.... not worth my time. So if you run into something, just holler at me and I'll go track it down. It's like a treasure hunt.

That should settle everything you've mentioned so far. Better now?

Andrew made a post about this I don't remember the details of. Basically, they're back; now you just have to change the poster to the original author of the post.

If he made a post about it, I can't find it, but it's good that they are back.

Crow's Nest (Sentries)

I am none of those...I'm just an editor here on Fantasy - I'm a normal...whatever users are called on the SF side.

Now that the forums have been merged, all users have been given a single ranking. Since before the merge your highest (not importance, only elevation ) ranking across the forums was editor, you should now have access to the editor's room/Crow's Nest/etc on each forum.
