This is a quest for Lady Kitra Mimetes, Lieutenant Mopa, Lady Katharina Mimetes, and me, Andorin (man...I have a short user name...).

It was started in a character development thread, and I have no idea where it will go. I'll say now that anything goes; well, almost. Try to not make the other characters do anything.

This quest thing will be taking place in a world which I have very little development for, so this will be an interesting combination of on the fly world development and character development.

The world is just a map I made for an RP game a while back in a different forum. *shuffles through digital papers* Ah, here it is.
The characters are Tanner, Jhils, Joshua, Bakar, and any others that we meet along the way.

So here we go! I'm continuing from where we left off in the other chat with Tanner.

-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

"Guys," Bakar began, "it is really nice of you to offer to help, but as you can see," Bakar moved to the door through which he had come into that strange room and placed his hand on the locked handle, "the door is..." as Bakar spoke the handle twisted with one smooth motion and the door opened. A bitter cold air filled the room and flakes of snow blew past Bakar's fingers and spilled about his feet. He quickly threw the door wide open. A bright and clear blue sky was shining above a small mountain pass filled with snow. Dark peeks pierced through the white blanket on the other side of the pass. He stepped out into the snow in amazement. The pass ran between two tall lines of dark peaks: one line was before him and the other, behind. Bakar looked to his left and saw in the distance the tops of thousands of trees in a valley far below the mountain pass; to his right was a great plane with several rivers stretching beyond sight. 'The Northern Realm,' Bakar thought to himself. He quickly found his barrings. He was back in his world in one of the passes that linked the Northern realm with the forest valley which lay north and west of the lesser sea. Bakar turned to face the door through which he had come. "This is my home!" he shouted. "Well not this pass, but all of this." Bakar waved his hand at the world about him. Feeling the cold, Bakar quickly went back inside to get his jacket and other cold weather garments. "I'm really sorry to take off like this," Bakar spoke as he pulled on his clothing, "but I should really take this chance to finish what I started. I would invite you to come along, but I'm afraid I cannot guarantee you would be able to return to your worlds from mine. I'm still new to all of this. At any rate, I need to go." Bakar finally had everything on except for his scarf which he was about to wrap around his face.

-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

(Note: This would be when your character would jump in and say that they still want to come. Or maybe not; you might have a more clever idea up your sleeve, in which case I will be very interest to see what you do with all of this.)

Tanner: *grabs his jacket too* No way, if there's something to do out here. The rules here don't make any sense, so I'll take my chances doing something as soon as wait. *grabs a thicker coat from a chest in the corner of the room*

Wow, I didn't know that door led here.

Jhils blinked once, then another time, "I didn't know that your world was snowy." Then Jhils turned into a brown bear. "This is more comfortable."

Joshua looks around the room. "Hmm, I didn't bring a coat. I don't suppose any of you have an extra." Sees Jihls change into a bear and jumps back. "Y-you can do that?" Sees a coat in the far corner of the room. "Is this anybody's? Do you think anybody will mind if I borrow it?"

Bakar stood knee deep in the snow, examining his new found friends. It seemed unfair to pull them into his personal business, but the thought of what help they might be in this particular quest, as well as their persistence in the matter, caused Bakar to consider allowing them to help. How they would help was still to be determined. “If we are going to pull this off, you all are going to have to follow me. I know these mountains, these forests, this world better than anyone in it, and you would practically be signing your own death sentence if you were to stray too far away or did not listen to my instructions.” Bakar had never made a speech like this – or any speech for that matter. He was beginning to feel like he was getting off topic. “All that being said, we should get off these mountains before it gets dark. We will head for the forest,” Bakar said as he pointed to the east. “The forest is part of Lord Dactin’s domain, so it is likely that the entrance to this pass will be guarded. The weather will warm up once we reach the edge of the forest, so you should not worry about the cold too much. We should reach the forest in a few hours.”
Bakar wasn’t sure if anything else needed to be said; though, he did, in fact, leave out a great bit of detail forgetting that the three men to whom he spoke did not possess any “common knowledge” of this world. He scratched his head nervously for a moment, “Uh…I guess that is it. Let’s move out.” Bakar quickly turned around and began walking toward the eastern part of the pass. He really hoped he wouldn’t have to make anymore speeches; it made him a little sick to his stomach.

((Sorry it is taken so long guys. The internet has been out for almost the whole week.))

Joshua's eyes sparkle in excitement. "I have always wanted to explore new countries. This will be great! And don't worry about me not following you. This place looks a bit treacherous."

Tanner: *grins bemusedly* Is it weird that this is the second time in a week I'm being told that? I got lost in the woods a mile from my house anyway, so I think I can follow on this one. :D

...Of course, the last guide I had did get me eaten by a crocodile, but I guess that turned out alright too...

"I've had a few close encounters with crocodiles -- and a few other large reptiles for that matter. They have their weak points like any other animal." Bakar paused for a moment to think then asked, "How exactly can someone getting eaten by a crocodile 'turn out alright'?"
Bakar continued to walk through the lose knee-deep powder when he heard Jhils's strange question. Straining his neck to see if Jhils's question was directed at him, Bakar spoke up, "Is my world what?"

Bakar smiled at the thought of what such a crazy stunt with a crocodile would look like. "Well, I promise not to do anything like that without filling you in on it first."
Bakar looked out to the horizon where he could faintly make out mountains on the other side of the great valley forest which they were approaching. "The Elves certainly think it is round, the world I mean. It is sort of hard to believe, but an old mentor of mine explained it by reminding me of what you see first when a ship is still a long way out. You always see the very top sails like this," Bakar tried to make his fist as round as possible while he demonstrated what would be a ship coming up over the horizon; his fist, of course, represented the world and the thumb of his other mitten covered hand, the sails of a ship. "Then you see the rest of the ship; like this. Does that make sense? It didn't to me at first, but if you think about it, it is a pretty cool idea."
Bakar turned his attention quickly back to the 'road' ahead. Something wasn't quite right. He quickly retreated to the shadows along the cliffs to the right and waved for the others to take cover along with him. The sun was beginning to sink quite low in the southwest and the northern face of the pass was showing just the slightest hint of a passing day. Bakar turned his gaze back to the east. Far down the hill, there was a mass of powder being kicked up by some sort of rushing mob. Bakar waited just another moment before he could make out what it was. "Brudae? What was a pack of brudae doing in the valley forest?"
The pack came roaring up the pass at an alarming rate. Each was panting and yelping out of their large wolf-like mouths filled with white and yellow teeth. Strong legs pulled their bear-like bodies up the incline of the pass as snow splattered about, entangling itself in matted fur.

((Some visual inspiration for Brudae. Also, singular form is Brudo))

"Brudae? What's a Brudae?" Asked Jhils.

Joshua looks on during Bakar's demonstration. "That's the way my world is, too." Walks forward with the others and hunkers down as soon as Bakar tells him to hide. Joshua watches carefully as the fearsome animals charge toward them down the path. "Pleasant looking creatures, aren't they?"
