I've been wondering. Why do we have to use the names of people on here? Why not make up different names? Perhaps I'm getting a different view of this, but I envision something like Skyrim, where you name your character but your companions already have names.

I'd be happy to offer my previous username, but it's the name of a character in a story I'm working on, which could get confusing...

Er, just one of my projects. She's in a book, under a different name. But I realized that I might mention her real name at some point.

Well, for the purposes of the player controlled characters, we'll quite possibly make all/some of them be entirely made up people, but we're hoping to use the names of people on here for NPCs. (As in the various people around besides the party.)

So Arien and I took some time today to use the character generator part of the program and create faces and sprites for a number of you. (Basically the people who posted on the first page or were on chat when we were doing this.) So! Here's a picture of the sixteen faces we made.

Top row: Amanda Cat-Dragon (Manda Kondrael), Belec Giraffe Virgil (Balec Verge), Milly Manderly (Calista Beth Mimetes), Riniel Jasmina (Lady Kitra Mimetes)
Second row: Katroid (who I never actually asked what name she wanted...anyway, KathrineROID), Leandra Falconwing (me!), Neil the Librarian (Neil of Erk), Suiauthon the Leprechaun King (Suiauthon)
Third row: Sir Arien, Guy of the Rounded Table (Arien Mimetes), Bushmaid, Celestria, Elly
Fourth row: Loki, Renna (Renna the Blue Mimetes), Roager the Ogre, the Bard (Yehoshua Mimetes)

Top two rows were done by me, bottom two by Arien. Please let us know if you have any objections.

By the way, the hair color is based on rank. In case you're confused by the, ah, unusual hair colors. A lot of the eye colors were chosen for the same reason, but not all. And if you want some changes, we won't be offended. Really.

May I ask, where does this take place?

We're still working on that. But it'll be basically inside Holy Worlds (probably rooms with lots of books, a "training arena" where you practice writing, things like that) and we're also considering having areas based off of stories or realms posted (with, of course, permission from the authors).





The program we're using to create the game also has something where you can create pictures and sprites of your characters. So doing it wasn't hard at all; just select various options and voila, a face. Sadly, although the faces are avatar sized, you wouldn't be able to use them as HW avatars, because they're faces.

I'd love to hear more about your plan/plot/story for this.

Want to help us come up with that part? XD *cough* Basically, we don't really have much in the way of plot. We're still working on that.

Also! I didn't really make a proper, likely-to-show-up map, but I wanted to do some screenshots so you could see the way things will look more or less. So. Three screenshots for your viewing enjoyment.

Perhaps you could get books about worlds that hw's have made, then you can get into the world... (yeah I'm thinking way out there ) I shall come back to this.

I can help design new animals specifically for the rpg. Or draw other people's creations, with their permission of course. Unless there are templates for this?


Oh I see. So the rpg maker has a ton of templates I assume.

Also, developing on that idea of delving into books: Perhaps different characters from different books could travel into others and create chaos.

Another question, will animals be able to have their own worlds? If I might be so bold, it would be amazing to have a world filled with my Valloians and the like.

That would be great. It has some sprites for basic animals (wolf, cat, dog, such like) but no templates for making your own.


There are tilesets so you can create your maps, the program for making faces and sprites, and although I wouldn't call this part a template, you can create character classes, skills, weapons, armor, and things like that.


Hmmm...an intriguing possibility. "I have a mission for you. Three villains have escaped their books and hidden inside different stories..."


I'm not quite sure what you mean. A world that's only populated by specific animals?

If you want a random quest to add to the game then you might be interested in this. It sort of started because I got an idea from Neil the Librarian's random advice. We haven't started it yet...I'm sort of waiting for at least to more people to join.

Also, I wouldn't mind having an avatar...Just saying...

What I mean is that in the same way that certain books hold different worlds, I was wondering if one of those worlds could be based off of my animal(ish) fantasy. But then again, the entire idea of books being worlds the character can become isn't official. I should probably drop it until plot and the like becomes a bit more solid since it's pretty much nonexistent.

For things wandering around, sprites are what we need. If any of those things are ever fought, we do need a different type of picture to show the opponent, though.

Makes sense to me. And battler pictures will still be incredibly helpful, because the program only has a limited selection.


Still not sure what place the Hugely Wuthering Creepy Snake will have, but it'll be in there somewhere.

Heh, well, apparently we do the most (only?) work on it when we're actually together, which is, um, not that often these days. I should do some more mapping this next week if/when I have time...more faces, too, 'cause those are just fun.
