I believe this is the right place for this, since it has to do with physical atoms, landmasses, etc...

Do any of you have different natural laws in your worlds? For example, in our world we have gravity, the laws of thermodynamics, etc...

In your fantasy worlds do you ever mix those up a bit? Perhaps energy CAN be destroyed? Creating an apocalyptic end of all we now know? LOL!

In one of my worlds, gravity can be circumvented and there is an actual race of people who are just not affected by it. Which causes some problems when they try to interact with those who are.:D

In my world, there is a portal system, and if you step through it incorrectly, then it actually replicates your matter in six different places. (And kills you.)

Eventually, somewhere forces a huge mass through the portal. That replicates the mass, which upsets the matter/energy balance and triggers the end of the world in a cataclysmic reverse heat death.

The only thing that I'm really going to toy with is the existence of an "exotic matter" which they use, at first, to manipulate what they believe to be magic (and it partly is cobha) and later to weave wormholes and manipulate space and time.

Redemption is to be purchased, to have a price paid. So I was redeemed from my master sin, and from justice, which demanded my death. For He paid the price of sin by becoming sin, and met the demands of justice by dying for us.

For all men have a master. But a man cannot have two masters. For he will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and sin. So I die to the old, as He died, and I am resurrected to the new, as He was resurrected.

Note: Ebed is Hebrew for bondsman, Eleutheros is Greek for unrestrained (not a slave).

Hmm..Right now I'm thinking of possible changes to friction. Like, it's a ton less or more, changing how things slide and rub and the efficiency of machines. But that could be hard to explain in parts.

No, so far all the laws are the same, but that may change in some places. The only difference are there are several other atoms. It is also possible to manipulate atoms if they knew about them, but only certain people have this ability. I haven't quite figured out what laws this would change.

I haven't really thought out changing up laws in my world yet. Our world has just the right balance to sustain life, so that would be pretty tricky...

I have pondered what it would be like to have a law be different in our world, like if water fell up. You would have to completely redesign showers. But, you could still swallow water because of the way the esophagus is designed (you can swallow while upside down). The chemical composition of water would probably have to be changed though.

Oooooh, sweet.

:D

I haven't actually changed the laws per se, but the elements in my world behave strangely. (Earth, Air, Water, Fire) They have different effects on "magic" and on life in general. I'll post some info on those as soon as I figure out what forum to put it in. :?

Would that count as changing the laws?

I know! That sounds cool!

I think it would.

That sounds really intriguing Neil… I’d like to see your post on how all of that works.

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.
