For my own reference and some secret plans of my own that may or may not involve taking over the world...

How many of you are frequent book buyers? eBook or physical book?
I am talking here only about fiction books, so don't count textbooks, devotional books, or theological type things. Think fiction. You all know what that is ;)

Note that this poll does include books you buy for others! It is the buying habits that count on this one.

Only check one option for print books and one for ebooks. So I would answer like this:
I buy 2-3 print books per year
I buy no ebooks per year

CLARIFICATION: Books that you have requested to have bought for you count, since you are more or less responsible for it being bought.
Free eBooks count, too, since what we are really talking about is the buying power, and that's taking part in the marketing, I suppose.

And you can change your votes if you need.

I pick up a lot of free ebooks from promotions and a number of print books from giveaway or as gifts. For me to spend my own actual money on a book, it must be one amazing book I'd probably previously read at the library.

I think the HW prevalence of broke teens babysitting and mowing lawns might skew your results. ;)

Yes; do books you ask for as gifts count?

I said I buy 2-3 print books a year, although I've definitely bought more than that the last couple of years. On the other hand, just about all of those books have been from used book sales...

I don't think I've ever bought an e-book. I might, if I ever end up with a Kindle or Nook or something, but so far, I haven't really bothered.

Yes, and does it count if you 'buy' a book for free?

Uh...7 or more for me. Books are all I really ask for gifts these days and I buy them from discount piles a lot. I'm just starting to get into ebooks.

I would definitely buy more than seven books in a year if I had the money. Thankfully, we have a great library.

I'm still debating with myself if it's 4-6 printed books per year...or 7 and more. I'm not that much of an ebook person...

I buy no ebooks. I will accept free ones, but would never waste money on them. ;) This year I received two ebooks, but since I would never have obtained them unless they were free, it seems like that voting otherwise would skew the results you are looking for.

The print book result was a little harder to decide on. I voted 2-3. This year I've ended up with much more than that, but a large chunk of my new books were picked up for free from my Aunt. I bought two books as presents for my sister (both of which I will probably read eventually so I suppose that will count towards my total) and have already received four books as presents (three birthday and one early Christmas) with at least one more probably on the way, but again... under normal circumstances, I wouldn't be shelling out money for myself.

I rarely - if ever - buy ebooks. However 7 is a gross understatement for how many print books a year I buy. :P I used to buy many more in fiction, but over the past year, I haven't bought as many as I'm used to. (Turning into my Mum; preferring teaching books over fiction)

I barely buy books since a good 90% of the books I want to read are already owned by friends.

I almost always just ask them to lend them to me. If they can't or don't own it, then I buy. :)

I would say I buy between 4-6 print books a year. I bought more when I had a Kindle, and I used to purchase quite a number of e books until my Kindle broke. :)

I can't say for sure... depends on how much money I have at the time. Rarely buy a brand new book (last one was the 4th Harry Potter book, to complete my set), but I do like going to the resale store for them.

Ebooks I've only downloaded free classics for Kindle.
