I've read three so far: PlagueMaker, HeadGame, and First the Dead. He writes good action scenes.

Those are probably his three best...but not by much. The rest of the Bug Man novels are great as well. He writes good everything...humor, romance, action, mystery...

And Nick Polchak is like the greatest protagonist ever. :D

Yes, you do. :) Downs is a Christian and his books are very clean...another bonus on top of his super-duper writing which I think is better than Ted Dekker. (Although Dekker has more intriguing stories.)

"Luke the Mindwielder" isn't fantasy? Mindwielder strikes a fantasy vibe to me :)

Indeed this one does :D, but I must admit that Forlendo Alistar was a bit fuzzier. I do like "Luke the Mindwielder" though. I might just have to write up an essence map for this one just for fun.
*Ahem* Marcher Lord got off topic *ahem*

It's not from anything fantasy, if that's what you mean. See www.mindwielders.com.

You mean you don't always get off topic? :o

It sounds fantasy, whatever you crazy people define it as. :D
It makes me think of wizards and mindspeaking and great telepathic feats and... magicians of all things. Like that would be the name of a traveling magic show. :?

Aha. I think I'll use it in a story sometime...it should fit in the Circle of Three series with all the werewolves/shapeshifters, the Bloodkeepers, etc.

Aren't there already like, two other books written called Circle of Three? (not that yours isn't original and you can't call it whatever you like...)

Yeah. I say Dekker is my favorite author, but if Downs would write some more books (Dekker has around 30 and Downs only 8) he might take the top spot for me. :D I just read so fast that when I exhaust a really good author I feel disappointed.

Oh that's right, book of three. There's a circle of three too, by Tamora Pierce I think. I haven't read it, but I know it exists. And of course I'm thinking of the circle series... but that doesn't count. Hm...

Yeah, I know that feeling. it keeps happening to me, over and over. Drives me crazy.

Tamora Pierce's series is called Circle of Magic, not Circle of Three. It's an interesting enough series.

Quote:
Circle Of Three is a series of young adult paperback novels by Michael Thomas Ford under the pseudonym Isobel Bird. It follows the lives of three teenage girls from different social cliques, who come together over a mutual interest in Witchcraft.

Originally released in mass market paperback, the series is currently out of print, though the books are still available used and as eBooks. The eBooks feature bonus material, such as interviews with Isobel Bird, crafts, and magical exercises. Chapter excerpts are available on the HarperCollins website.

Not a series any of us would want to look at, I'm sure. But I've never heard about it before I googled it just now, and anyway it's out of print.

There are a few more elusive books titled Circle of Three, A Circle of Three. It's just a title that can apply to a lot of different things. I have yet to find one that I would even think about reading.

Okay. Like I said, nothing wrong with your title. It just sounded really, really familiar... and it's still bugging me as to why. But that's my problem, not yours, and I'm probably just thinking about Book of Three. Ignore me please.

Jonathan, would you mind my asking if you are related to a Rachel Garner, also known as Lady Nairam?

I don't mind, but as far as I know, I'm not. However, we could be distant cousins, depending on what part of the US she's from.

You know Nairam, Luke? I met her on Story Girl's blog. She's also OYAN friends with my 'editor'.

Yeah, editor as in she picks apart my story as I write it, and tells me how to make it better. Her real name is Zoe Neufeld. I'm not sure what she goes by on OYAN.

I started a blog so that people can read my stories that were published in Fear and Trembling Magazine, since the Fear and Trembling archive is no longer available. So far I've posted my first published story, 'The Coming', which I should probably mention is horror and dealing with the sin of lust, so reader discretion is advised. :D

Yeah, I'm waiting for you to do such; however, I love your ideas for your horror story, so I fully support you finishing that one. I just won’t read it ;)

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9

Nessa- She's given up the veil, the vows she'd sworn, abandoned every effort to conform. Without a word to anyone she's gone her way alone, a dove escaping back into the storm.

Nolan- And though I don't understand why this happened, I know that I will when I look back someday, and see how you've brought beauty from ashes, and made me as gold purified through the flames.

Azriel- And who do you think you are, running round leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts, and tearing love apart? You're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul, so don't come back to me. Don't come back at all...

This intro thread seems to be going the way of mine. Just dragging on forever. But that's ok, mine was just like a ridiculous planning room. Anyway, just thought I'd pop up and say that. XD

I'm fine with it, and I'm a moderator =)

I also liked your story; very well written, and thought provoking...

The general rule on Introductions threads is that nothing is off topic so long as it centers on the person being introduced. Most "off topic" discussions are not off topic in the introduction threads, so you guys are fine. For now ;)

The Rainbow in the Storm- My Blog

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.
