Go for it! If it takes longer, so be it, but give it your best shot. That's my preferred methodology. :D

Well, I made it. :D I have now finished the rewrites and edits of the first book in my trilogy, bringing it to a total of 122,000+ words. I am very relieved it is done, and I am very pleased with my changes.

Which means, when I get home, it is time to start queries. It is amazing to finally be ready to start that process for my trilogy. I've waiting till the right moment, knowing I would know when the book was ready. And now it is.

I think my betas will be very pleased with all the newness, and that I played off of some of their favorite scenes and parts in the book. :)

Jonathan, you will be very happy to know that I also wrote a scene for my third book. It is very rough and only a skeleton, but it is a scene, none the less.

And I've been working on a second one... but I'm trying to decide if it really progresses the story or not...

*comes in for her monthly report*

Chapter two is done, with last chapter's lovely wordcount. In two chapters, I've surpassed the wordcount of my first, horrible "book" ^_^ I also wrote a pivotal scene that I've been muchly looking forward to.

November's goal: chapter three!

Well, my new goal is to finish revising Book 1 (again) in time to do Nano. Yes, I know I only have four days. Yes I know this one is already over. Yes, I know I should work on Book 2. Shut up.

I haven't exactly done my goal...but I have been outlining. :D I downloaded a free trial version of Scrivener and am loving it. I have 9 chapters outlined. :dieshappy:
My goal is to get to 15 chapters before Nov. 1st, and to try and do a couple scene descriptions too.

Oh, yes. Very productive. I made a last minute decision to do NaNo and I have a map and three sentences partially finished to prep for it.

Yessss... I love writing... but I'm the biggest procrastinator on earth! With novels, poems, schoolwork, or roleplays! And Varon can testify to the bit about roleplays!

Here's a tip, Renna. Whenever you are tempted to procrastinate, put it off until tomorrow.

Oh, yes, JJ is the only person except NN whom I can usually assume to join my often far-out-there roleplays on NaNo YWP. (And roleplays are writing with other people.)

Right now, I'm organizing my NaNo novel into 500 word journal entries for each day with a major crisis point every 10 days.

Yep, I always join his roleplays. And just as often proctastinate on them. I always end up feeling guilty...

Ren, you should make a small goal on here (and one on the weekly challenge thread), accomplish it, and make another, working up. :D It helps me to start small, anyway.

And (*attempting to keep thread on track* ;)), I actually only had 8 chapters outlined (I was accidentally counting another file in addition to the chapters). But I've outlined two chapters so far today so now I'm at ten. :D

Well, it unfortunately looks like I might have to reconsider my goal to finish my book by the end of the year. :P I'm working with an editor on my first book, and it's clear that the entire plot of the series is in need of revision, as well as several of the themes in the first book. :P So yeah, I might not even continue writing my current book until all that is worked out. I'll have to see.

So my new novel goal is to whip the first book into shape as quickly as possible so I can get it published by December. *sighs* It will be a crazy next several weeks. :(

Editing like a crazy editing person... have to get this to my formatter today! And less than a month for publishing. Really crazy here. o.O

Also thinking about NaNo, though I never do very much planning for it.

Are you paying for an editor?

Yes, and I have to say that the cost was well worthwhile.

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Works in progress:

The Diegosian Mark, 115,600 words (Preparing for Publication)
The Diegosian Rider, 121,400 words (Finished)
The Diegosian Warrior, 15,000 (In Progress)

I've done a good bit of research, and one of the things I hear repeated over and over again, is that if you're going to self-publish, you need to get your book professionally edited. Technically, it wasn't even an edit, but a critique. It was good to hear from a professional standpoint what's popular in the industry right now, which styles work and which don't, and what I need to do to improve. So I'm kinda bummed with all the unexpected work in my future, but at the same time I'm glad I took the time to put my book through the proverbial wringer, which ultimately kept me from publishing a subpar book. And at the end of the day, no matter how long it takes, I want to publish a solid, engaging book that readers will love and that will glorify God.

Ah! You are going to self publish? That was a very wise move then, I think!

My novel goal is to write 50,000 words on a novel in November, then finish the first draft of the novel in December.

My goal is 15,000, and hopefully pit through HW's wringer. It ties in to my Rapunzel rewrite, so I'll probably put it on HWSF, even though I can't really categorize it as any of the three genres.

Over nine thousand views? What an awesome thread!

I'm at 22% editing Kaimerus. Not sure about goals but I'd like to be done by Feb 1.

Wow, that's a big goal, Tim! I bet you can make it, though. :)

Well, after I finish my recordings, I'm going to work some more on the third book in my trilogy. I don't have a goal yet, though....

Good. Steady progress might be enough of a goal to start with. :D
