I'm not scared of talking on phones, I just hate it, like Lycanis. :P There was only one time in my life that I was actually scared of talking on the phone, and that was not because of the phone, it was because of what I was going to talk about.

Yeah, that definitely affects the way I approach the phone as well, if I were going to get to talk with a friend or something (practically never happens), I wouldn't be hating or fearing it in the least.

People hate phones? In the past week I've spent more then 8 hours talking on the phone, I love talking to random people on the phone, like the other day, I ordered food for my family(It was at a bar....) When random numbers call, I normally answer then, because no one else wants to talk to a random person. Well then again, I'm the kid that would go with anyone when I was younger. And I also want to be a door to door salesman when I grow up.

I'm not really scared of talking on phones, I just don't like it because I've had many bad conversations by phone (although I've had some through different means as well...). I am an introvert, and I like having time to think about responses before giving them. Phone conversations don't let me do that as well as, say, emails, do. It feels safer, and introverts love feeling safe! *burrows back through thick walls into her comfort zone*

As has already been mentioned here by others, talking on the phone isn't my favorite pasttime. I wouldn't call it a phobia, though.

*pulls chin and thinks of phobias*

I detest spiders, but I'm not necessarily afraid of them.
I don't like heights either.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head...

Oh wait, one's just come to me. I am terrified of the thought of swimming in the ocean and being pulled far out from shore by a rip current, where anything might lurk in the deeps beneath me. Thinking about that makes me shudder. :pale:

I have quite a few phobias. Necrophobia; monophobia; and a few I can't remember the names of.

Necrophobia is the fear of death. It literally scares me senseless just thinking about it. Me dying, someone I love dying... if I even think about it for a few minutes, I forget the trick of how to breathe...

Monophobia is the fear of being alone, I believe. This kind of is coupled with necrophobia; I'm afraid of everybody I care about basically disappearing or forgetting about me. I can't be alone, like, at all, without panicking. Which is why I have a hard time falling asleep at night (also because I have a fear of the dark, which... I don't remember the name for...).

Other phobias I have but don't remember the names of are: clowns (don't laugh), the dark, heights, ghosts, deep water (like oceans and seas and lakes), and other stuff I can't remember right now. :P

I know, I have really stupid phobias.

That is very interesting. How does it manifest itself?

Reduced breathing helps you live longer.

I think I may have claustromania, anti-claustrophobia, I love small, shut up places, and I have since I was little. When we went to hotels I would (if I could) make my bed and sleep in the little crack between the big bed and the wall, sometimes less than a foot wide I think. I loved going to hotels, because I got to sleep in the crack.

Er... well, I always got scared really easily. I kind of still do. Give me a book or movie that's even remotely scary, and I can't sleep for about a week.

I accidentally came upon several stories online about clowns. One of them was some story (a really ridiculous one...) about this lady who was babysitting for a friend, and she saw this clown with a knife outside the window. She freaked out, called the police, and they told her to go outside. When they got there, apparently, the clown hadn't been outside. That had been a trick of a mirror, and some lights. It had been inside. Yes, it's a dumb story. And I read it when I was thirteen. But I freaked out and still get kind of spooked.

...

Looking back on what I just wrote, I sound like such a moron. :P

I think I've got a fear of falling.
It's not the same as a fear of heights. I don't mind heights so much. I love airplanes and rock-climbing. And there are times when I can stand on a high place and enjoy the view...and then there are times when I just shake all over. Sometimes, I shake when going down a flight of stairs, or when I see a manhole that's open. That's why I think I have a fear of falling instead of a fear of heights (and I think I know how I got it too. :P ).

I watched a sci-fi horror movie (pretty tame for horror though, I think), and the thing that stuck with me most was the clicking noise the extra terrestrials "spoke" and the wind chimes. o.O

Add me to the list. I used to be paranoid about the craziest things, like robbers slipping in through the window I was sleeping with my back to, or something drastic happening downstairs when Mom didn't come up when expected to say goodnight.

Y'know, I thought I was the only one who was paranoid about that. I still am when my mom doesn't come in when expected. I also can never have my window open, no matter how hot it is, because of the fear of robbers or monsters.

Yeah, that's exactly what I am. You know people write these stories about meting their characters in real life somehow? I imagine that happening, and my first instinct would be to hide behind the nearest large object and cower in unparalleled terror.

I thought that has never crossed my mind. But that might be because my characters aren't real enough to me, or because I know they could never make it to our world. ;)

No, I love open spaces too, though I do not usually get opportunities to experience them.

I may have an undeveloped phobia of food getting spilled or something some one made getting broken. But I do not think it is a proper phobia because it causes an irrational grief rather than fear.

I know how that is. I still sleep with two nightlights on. I used to have three... and my mom put an end to that. But I can't sleep without two nightlights on, or I hyperventilate. Like, literally. One time, just a year ago, the bulb in one of them burned out--in the middle of the night. I was hyperventilating, I couldn't breathe, I was shaking like crazy, and all teary-eyed. It was terrible. :P

That does sound scary, Renna!

I always have a night light on. I hate the dark.

I like it to be pitch black myself, unless I'm walking up a staircase; if it's even semi-dark it freaks me out a bit.

Speaking of phobias....I dreamed about spiders last night. * shudders * One kept falling in my lap, and my Dad wouldn't kill it for me... o.O

I went through a time when I liked it to be pitch black. I'm not sure when that changed. I used to close the door, and not have any light coming through at all. Now I can't sleep in the dark. Funny how one changes!

That sounds like a dreadful nightmare! D:

I'm the opposite: a dark room used to freak me out, but now they don't bother me.

And just for the record, I've never had any ligth coming through my door. ;)

:D :salute:

You never know, ligth could morphe into a made-up word with possibilities of importance in a series somewhere.

I sympathize greatly with you, my dear. :P

I like my room pitch black now. The dark doesn't bother me at all; I go outside and tie the dogs up without any light. I guess all the carrots I ate as a child gave me better night vision. ;)

A phobia I have, is that people will stop liking me if I do something stupid.

I used to feel a bit like that all the time, Danko. I couldn't even hold a conversation with someone without thinking continually to myself 'I'm not very interesting, they must think I sound silly, is this stupid? Maybe I shouldn't say this' and so on; I drove myself insane with it all. I used to hate seeing people because of it in the end. :P But I've gotten over it now. :) I'm much better.

Huh, doing stupid things is why my friends like me. I am the comedy relief, moral voice and negative influence all rolled into one.
but I've also never backed down when a friend was in danger.

My phobia has it's own theme song.
