Who's excited about this movie? I AM!!!! And here are my nerdy reasons why:

1. Michael Caine is in it, who is one of the most EPIC actors EVER! Plus, he was Captain Nemo in the 1997 3 hour long version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, originally a mini-series.

2. Dwayne Johnson is in it, and he is pretty awesome, too.

3. Josh Hutcherson is in it, and he was really awesome in the first movie, and was really really awesome in Bridge to Terebithia.

4. It's based off of the Mysterious Island, which is the sequel to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. (Ironically they find the Nautilus, which Caine destroyed in his version of the film... I wonder how ironic it was for him when they filmed it... or if he even made the connection...)

5. It's the sequel to the all awesome Journey to the Center of the Earth (which I love!)

6. It looks AWESOME!

What are y'all's thoughts about it? Are you as excited as myself?

Warning: The girl does dress not-the-best, so if you look it up, keep that in mind...

I loved the book 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and I also liked Journey to the Center of the Earth; but I have never watched the films etc.

I'll have to look it up. :D

I don't like Michael Caine, though. :P

The Journey to the Center of the Earth was not directly "the book" per-say... I like the way they did it because no one could really complain that they didn't "follow the book." I like it a lot, though I understand many don't appreciate it. :p

*nod nod* Understandable. I really like him, though... partly because he was an epic Captain Nemo, but also what I've seen him in he's been spectacular, in my opinion. :D

Just curious, why don't you like him?

Most of what I've seen him in he tends to swear badly, and say disgusting things a lot. So I have a very low opinion of him. :P

Oooooh! Well that makes more sense, now!

The 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea he's in does have some language in it, but I actually appreciated that he wasn't as foul-mouthed as some of the others. I think he only made one remark using God's name in vain, as far as I remember, and that's as bad as he got in that.

A few movies I recommend seeing/hearing him in: Cars 2 (He's Finn McMissile), Gnomeo and Juliet (He's Lord Redbrick), and The Muppet Christmas Carol (as Scrooge).

I know he's in the Batman movies as Alfred, but I haven't seen any of those yet.

Michael Cane doesn't really pick the best movies to be in. He is a very good actor though. I saw the journey to the center of the earth and thought it was pretty shallow. (Not to mention the technical horrors it had which I won't bore you with.)

This one doesn't look great to me. Though Cane is a good actor and Josh Hutcherson is getting better.

(Michael Cane as Alfred is really really excellent by the by.)

I just saw Journey to the Center of the Earth last night, and I wasn't a fan. I know it was a sci-fi movie and with that comes suspension of reality, but my over-analyzing brain kept poking holes in the plot. Also, I'm not a huge fan of live-action movies with a ton of CGI.
However, I'll probably end up seeing the sequel, since my best friend loves Josh Hutcherson and will probably drag me along to the theater with her. So I guess we'll see how it is...

I loved him in the Game Plan, too. :)

I'm wondering how the movie will be, since the only character who has stayed the same is Josh Hutcherson's character. Everyone else seems to have disappeared.

That was due to scheduling conflicts...

Dwayne Johnson's character is Josh's step-dad, and Caine is his grandfather.

So who has watched this movie now then? I have seen it. :) It was pretty good!

My family and I saw this on the weekend. It was... okay, I guess. :D I liked it, but I was kinda loyal to the first movie, and I was a bit sad that Brendan Fraser wasn't in it. (Basically, another director wanted to do the second movie, so they did it outside of the original director, so Brendan Fraser stayed loyal to the first director and didn't end up in the second movie. If that made... any... sense) It was funny, and pretty cool. But didn't measure up to the first one in my opinion. The best part of the movie was Luis Guzmán. He's a hilarious actor! I like him in most of the movies I've seen him in.

So I'd probably give this movie 6-7 stars out of 10. I liked the essence of the first Journey movie better than this one. :)

I agree, Bushy. The first was definitely better, but the second one is great. Especially when you're a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea obsessed nerd like I am. Then that makes it even better.

But... yeah. I would have loved Brendan Fraser to have been in it. But... sadly... he wasn't. :( It wasn't a spectacular movie, but it was good and fun. :D I would agree that the essence of the first movie was much better. It was more suspenseful/adventurous. And what was reaalllly cool was the first one actually references a lot in the original book. But it was brilliant in that no one could complain it wasn't like the book with any changes because it wasn't meant to be the book in the first place! :dieshappy: But I can talk more about that in the thread about Journey 1.

What were your favorite parts, Bushy?

Agreed. :D I loved the fact Journey 1 wasn't supposed to be like the book, but the book was a central focal point for the movie anyway. :D

Favourite part, hrmm... I've only seen Journey 2 once, so it's hard to say for sure. I loved how all the maps out of all the books joined up at the beginning, that was pretty cool. I also thought it was funny when the girl's dad was trying to dig up that nugget of gold.

I loved the first one, and I love Dwayn Johnson, but I didn't like this one. :( It was okay, but it was not great.

Also: Josh Hutcherson = Peeta. :dieshappy:

That being said, I didn't actually like this movie. :( Loved the first one, though.
