Hello everyone, I guess you could almost call this a good bye.
I'm leaving the forums for a unknown amount of time(As the title might suggest).

Why am I leaving? Because I have a little principle I (try to) live by, when I go into something new, I see what I can contribute to it, not what it can contribute to me. And I don't have anything to contribute to the forum except my presence. I realized this when I saw the moderator control panel, I thought it was something new you guys added, so I went on it, and saw a massive amount of times you guys edit my posts (especially when they were about bacon. ) And I don't want to waste your time. So I'm leaving, but will come back someday. Until then here are some things about me and the forum:

I'm scared of Moderators and their green name. But editors are even scarier.

Chat is always fun when you're a chocolate knight.

Shorty: You helped me out a lot in some stuff (Thanks your Highness ).

MIrza: You were one of my first friends on the forum, when everything was new and overwhelming.

Artemis and Green: You two always were ready to talk to when I needed someone.

Amanda: You were the best chocolate princess I have ever met.

Aubrey: You were my go to Marcher Lord when something went wacky.

Airrianna: You where my go to Council member when stuff went really wacky, or if I had an idea. And I quite enjoyed the first message you ever sent me.

Batman: You were there for me when I had some hard times.

Cap't/Nemo: I still haven't had a tour of your submarine, and I would like one someday.

Azlyn: Thanks for showing me the forum and everything.

Raih: You are awesome!

Kingjon: I came back just to do this one. You were a big inspiration to me, of how to be a good writer and person (And awesome).

Thanks a ton everyone who I mentioned, and thanks a lot to those of you I missed. And remember, keep being awesome and eating bacon. -Danko

Danko darling, you contribute a lot to the forum, you just don't realize it. I'm not sure how you got access to the Mod Panel, but we will rectify that soon. As for editing your posts, that is nothing. The Mods and Editors have been known to edit Council Members posts, as well as MLs, Mods, HRM (my beloved HRM were in the Panel quite a bit for a while), and Editors. We edit things in order to make the forum as pristine as possible, because we have agents, publishers, and printing houses scroll through our forum from time to time. And also, the editors and mods love to find typos. If you only knew how crazy the editors get when they can't find anything!!!

We do not judge members based off of their spelling or grammar. If that were true, then many of us would be banned. HW is a comfort place for many of us, and we have the tendency to become slack in editing our own posts. I'm terrible about this when it comes to writing blog posts for HW. You should see the blog team bleed all over my beautiful blog posts!!!

So while I understand if you feel the need to go adventuring without us for a time, I encourage you to do so because you need a break, and not because you feel like you are a burden to our HW family. You are not, and we all mourn the loss of our family members dreadfully. Losing you would be painful; you are such a great friend. Editing your posts is neither pain nor trouble.

In case you don't come back to this thread, which I hope you will, I'll send you an e-mail, just to be on the safe side. We want to make sure you know how much you mean to us.

I agree with Airi. Please don't go.

And...you've started some of the awesomest threads in GD...they are fun, thought-provoking, and have helped me to get to know other HWers, including yourself, a bit better.

Danko! Please don't leave. Please stay. I'm sorry if we have done anything to upset you... for one thing, editors love their job. I'm sure there have been many, many times my posts have been edited. Typos happen to everybody! I've edited several posts by Council Members before, and MLs, and mods... and, of course, HRM & editors. (I've also thought I've seen an error and clicked the edit button only to find out there was no error! Not to mention when I click the edit button instead of the quote button! They're right there next to each other. Just what I get for attempting to multitask.)

But as I was saying - you're a wonderful part of our forum! You're a great member. You're easygoing and friendly to everybody, especially new members! I love the exuberance you show when you welcome new people! And you always make me smile when you use the dies-happy smiley! You fit in perfectly, and you contribute more than you give yourself credit for.

So... even if you go with your decision from before... know that we are going to miss you far more than you expect. I hope you'll reconsider. HW just wouldn't be the same without you.

Yep. I have personally edited a few typos lately for a certain council member. *whistles innocently* What are editors for but to edit mistakes? If you don't make mistakes, we can't edit!

Oh, I just saw something. A certain council member actually made a typo in her explanation of typos . *points to above quote* Sorry, Airi. I hope you don't mind me picking on you,

Danko, you can't base your value on the number of typos you make. That would be like tossing a book idea just because the rough draft needed revising. A few typos in your posts doesn't diminish the impact you have on the forum--nor does it affect how wonderful a friend you are.

Besides, if we're regulating people based on typos, we might as well kick 75% of the Council out immediately. Truth be told I think I personally edit more CM posts than I do of any other rank. *resists the urge to name names*

You're awesome, okay? You're so much fun to talk to, to have around. I don't know why you would think yourself such a burden.
Yes, we've edited your posts. But it's okay. For goodness' sake, I've even edited Jaynin and Airianna's posts (sorry, girls, had to pick on someone), and I've only been an editor for what, a month or two? Everyone makes mistakes. MY posts have been edited, I'm sure, though I've never gone to check.
Seriously, you add a lot to the forum. Your creatures in the Bestiary are well thought-out, and it's so much fun to discuss them with you. RUN! IT'S A BOHEMIAN TIGER BEETLE JUMPING SPIDER!!! And the headless trees, and the Furzzuang, and just... everything. You're so smart, and you're so much fun to talk to. You always try to encourage people. You care about people, and that's awesome. You're not a burden to anyone! Us editors LIKE finding typos. We don't look down on people whose posts we have to edit! We consider it an honor to do our duty!

None of us want you to leave, bud. We're not just saying that. It's sad when we lose any HW member, and it's especially sad when they're an awesome one like you.
Please don't leave us, Danketh. We all love you. We understand if you need to take a break, but please don't leave for good. I'm going to PM this to you too, since I'm not sure what you're checking. I tried your email, and it didn't work. Can I have your email address, at least? Even if you do decide to take a break from, or leave Holy Worlds altogether, I'm still going to want to talk to you. I get sad, every time I see our old Skype conversations, that we haven't been able to talk like that for a while. I may be a bit older, but I still think you're awesome and wise beyond your years.
I really hope you won't leave us. HW wouldn't be the same without you.

I understand if you think you should leave for a while, but don't do it because of too many edits to fix typos! If that starts happening, the editors will have to go on strike to prevent people from leaving, and then we won't be able to fix typos anymore! (Besides, this lets me practice my editing skills.)


I saw it too. Only like a good editor, I removed it. (Oh, and you started your bold in the space before fine, which is just weird. ) And I also just took out an ML typo, so really, don't worry about typos. I mean, go ahead and work on avoiding them if you want, but don't leave because of them. I've never been unhappy to be fixing typos. Actually, usually I'm pleased because it means I'm not just going along missing all of them, which I sometimes worry I'm doing. So, yeah, if you think you should take a break for a while, or even leave permanently, well, it's your choice, but don't do it because of typos.

*shrugs * I post more than any other Council Member. Goodness, I post more than any other member, for that matter, so it never shocks me when people find typos. With that many posts, you're bound to have typos, especially because I am a very busy person and normally multi-tasking when I am on the forum (unless I'm writing a monster post- I need full brain capacity for that). I'm okay with not being perfect, and I'm okay with being so busy that at times I can't double check my posts. That’s why I rely on editors to do their jobs. So that I can do mine. If I had to worry about every little typo in order to maintain my rank, I’d be a much less productive forum member. *shrugs * So productivity and forum usefulness have nothing to do with typos, Danko.

What’s really bad is when I don’t even type a word. My brain works faster than I can type. So, at times, I completely skip a word when I type.

That's the reality of the situation, though. Nobody's perfect. It's okay. And we have editors who would have nothing to do and no reason to be blue ranked if it weren't for busy people like me.

I don't really have anything to add, so I'll just echo other people. Please don't leave.

You can't know how I adore finding typos. *grins* It makes me feel I'm doing my job. And you're such fun, Danko -- a lot of us will be very sad if you leave, and you don't want that right?

I hope if you do decide to leave, Danko, that it won't be for long. And that you can return very soon to us, and cheer us with your happy smile, and joyful posts.

Everyone can make a typo, it's not a big deal. See, it can just be something very small: an Editor might just add in one comma, and that will show up in the Mod CP. It's the Editor's job to add in those missing commas, and fix those small typos. So you mustn't feel that you are causing any trouble. You're not. And we would be very, very sad to see you go. *Hugs*

I'm sorry you feel the way you do, and I sincerely hope we haven't driven you away.
