They're guessing it's one of the medications that's keeping her from waking up, so they're going to experiment a little.

All the Holmes are at home catching up on lost sleep and chores, and getting ready for Matthias' birthday tomorrow (!!!).
Mom and I are here, and doing okay, though it's hard at times. Pastor Jim from Cavalry Baptist in Stafford paid Noelle a nice visit a bit ago.
A nurse told us, much to our frustration, that the Neurologist and the Trauma Surgeon can't agree on whether Noelle's injury is DAI or not. Only time will tell, and luckily the proper diagnosis doesn't effect the course of treatment for the momement.
The good thing about brain injuries of any stripe is that there is always hope - our brains are well designed and can mend themselves, building new paths between neurons, given enough time.
Keep praying for everything we've mentioned, and that we can have the patience Noelle deserves from us.

No Changes today....The Holmes are at home celebrating Matthis's birthday(he is seven!) and Eli and I will be here for the next day or so....waiting patiently, praying, quietly singing to her.....knowing the Lord has only good intentions for Noelle and us all.....

Noelle had a new breathing tube put in last night since the other one seemed to be having problems... after that she calmed down a lot and was able to rest. She looks really good and peaceful this morning... her swelling is down.

I know God will get us all through this, and His will shall be done.

We may not see it, but God has a plan for this... As we go through this, we're all being made stronger and shaped into what He wants us to be.
The Facebook page has over 500 "likes", and many more who don't have a Facebook account so as to "like" the page are praying as well. Hundreds of people uniting for one purpose: to lift up their sister in Christ to their God for healing.
God hears us. He will answer our prayers if we are patient and we trust in Him.

The picture! That seems so long ago...when Noelle was well...

Today the doctors decided she must have the diffuse axonal injury. They can't find evidence of it in any of the scans, but they can't find anything else, so they "agreed" that it must be the dai. They will remove the breathing and feeding tubes from her nose and mouth, then place a breathing tube directly into her throat and a feeding tube directly into her stomach. This will be more comfortable for her, especially when she regains consciousness. - Mitch

The primary evidence for DAI *is* this longterm unconsciousness - all head trauma cases where the patient is unconscious for this long should be assumed to be DAI according to recent research. Additionally, the tiny bleeds and chemical releases in the brain are usually not visible on an MRI before a week out - the day after tomorrow.-Eli

I visited the scene of the accident today - it brought the accident to life in a way an online article can't. It was amazing to hear the news that an unamed hero saved Noelle's life at the scene of the accident through CPR and Rescue Breathing - the trucker, and the girlfriend of a paramedic I met at a pizza place in St. John this evening, in addition to the witness who posted here last night have no idea who this mystery woman was. If anyone does have information about her, please let us know! God providentially placed her there to save Noelle's life, and I'd love to thank her.
We are all very happy that Noelle is being evaluated tomorrow for acceptance into one of the top rehab facilities in the nation only five hours away in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is a major praise! They can start physical therapy before she is even conscious, making sure her body is taken care of while her head injury heals.

As is common in cases like this, Noelle has developed pneumonia... not a big issue, but keep it in your prayers. She is doing much better overall without all the tubes in her mouth.

Yet another complication...
Pray, God's people, pray.

Noelle has pneumonia right now and a fever. She had her tubes moved out of her mouth and nose and into her neck and stomach area. That has got to be less bothersome and I won't worry so much about her panicking when she wakes up. The Dr suctioned out her lungs really well while he was moving her tube and could see in there with his scope. -Michelle

Noelle is sleeping the most restful sleep I have seen her in yet since the accident. I helped Nurse Ronnie(my favorite!) bathe her and wash her hair just now. She now is all clean, in a fresh night gown, fresh sheets and freshly washed and braided hair. I also took the opportunity to work her limbs and joints and massage her gently. She was more flexible than she has been the whole time. I even got her to straighten out her right elbow that she has been keeping bent since the accident. Praise the Lord, I am so thankful that she is now sleeping with that arm straight! Thank our heavenly Father with me for all the mercies He is pouring out on our sweet Noelle. Specific requests are...
For her pneumonia to improve quickly
For her to continue to rest peacefully
For heart rates under 100 consistently
For calm, peace, and quiet to be in her surroundings
For her brain to continue to heal as she rests under the guiding hand of God.
That she continues to be restful with very few periods of anxiousness and tightening up her muscles.
That her pain meds will work to keep her free of pain and she won"t have times when it is wearing off, but that they will be able to time it all so she does not have to be in pain at all.
Pray especially that she will get her evaluation from the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE quickly and that they will agree to accept her as a patient and that she will be able to be transported there quickly.
Thank God for her Aunt Amy who suggested Madonna and worked out the details of getting this evaluation

Noelle is looking real good! Pray she rests, and gets the healing she needs. I *can* be patient and wait for her to wake up in her own time, knowing that her brain is healing the longer she rests. God has been so faithful to us, and He wins, no matter what happens between now and Revelation 21's "...neither shall there be any crying, or sorrow, or pain anymore..."

I mentioned elsewhere, but Noelle was also acting like she was trying to lift her head yesterday, and she has also been making faces for the first time since the accident! Mostly faces of disgust when the nurses do things to her, I'll admit, but still!

NOELLE IS STARTING TO OPEN HER EYES!! She's occasionally flickered them a little over the past 18 hours. But just about 5:00 pm today, she opened them up and looked around a little. Then left them squinted for a long while. It was very emotional for Michelle, Eli, Gpa Asher, and me. She has shown a lot of signs of being "near the surface".- Mitch'

This is true! Just be mindful that even if things were not getting better, the Lord would still be answering the prayers, his plan is perfect. When the outcome isn't necessarily what we want or expect, remember that it is just as much an answer. =)
