Hmmm. I'm torn. Because I can't choose between them, my four favorite hymns are Oh, the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus, Come ye Sinners, Be Thou My Vision, and Come Thou Fount. I tend to gravitate towards songs with a haunting sound to them, and the lyrics to all of these hymns just really speak to me.

Of my favorite hymns, two are on my mind at the moment: "I greet thee, who my sure Redeemer art" (text by John Calvin!), and the Pentecost hymn "Come, Holy Ghost, God and Lord."
Relatedly, about the same time as I joined HW I became aware of a group that produces albums of new hymn settings and "new hymns" and releases them, mostly (I think) for "pay-what-you-want" (possibly free): Cardiphonia.

I'm Orthodox. I can't tell for sure where one hymn ends and the next one begins, nor whether what I'm singing ought to be classified as a hymn or a prayer. But I'll take my best shot...
I like:
O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance! Grant Thou to Orthodox Christians victory over enemies, and by the power of Thy Cross do Thou preserve Thy commonwealth!
But I'm picky. I don't like the alternate translation:

I heard the story behind It Is Well With my Soul today. It was really touching. I was looking for a You Tube video of the hymn, and I found one with the story of why it was written on it. Definitely one of my favourite hymns.

My current favourite hymn is "Come Thou Fount", specifically the adaption by Owl City (Adam Young). I love this verse:
