The Battle for Wesnoth is a free fantasy Turn-Based Strategy game for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It happens to be one of my favorites. You can find it at http://www.wesnoth.org

Anyway, if there's anyone on who plays this or would like to start, we should get some kind of multiplayer group together. It'd be great fun. Some of us could even get our modding skills up and put in our own fantasy races/characters if we felt so inclined.

"The knight is a man of blood and iron, a man familiar with the sight of smashed faces and the ragged stumps of lopped-off limbs; he is also a demure, almost maidenlike, guest in a hall, a gentle, modest, unobtrusive man. Current WIPs include:

The Last Flight Of Captain Calder Scott--A Wanderlust Canon Tale (Steampulp Alternate History Adventure Novelette)

Estimated length: 17,000 words.
Currently Completed Length: In Editing Phase

I wouldn't be able to download it until I get my new laptop, Sam. I'm not sure I'd have time to play much, but I might have a look at it sometime.

When I play computer strategy games (or, really, any "long-form" computer games at all) nowadays, Wesnoth is my usual choice. (FreeCol just isn't stable enough yet, I'm afraid, and Civilization: Call to Power spoiled me for FreeCiv---and I run Linux, so most commercial games would require me to reboot.) But I hardly ever do play any strategy game nowadays, and I really need fewer timesinks, not more ... On the gripping hand, however, I suppose I'd like a game some Sunday afternoon ...

Awesome. What's your name on the server? (I'm Marshlord).

I've actually never been on a public server; when I've played multiplayer games, it's been with my brother over our LAN. So I'd have to create an account first :)

Well, you can, but you don't actually have to. The benefit to having an account is that no one can steal your name, but anyone can get onto the server.
