5' 5" is average for a woman (5' 4.6", to be precise). 5' 9" is slightly short for a man (5' 10.4" is average).

I am going off of American averages, but in most Western countries they're about the same.

Poor Roager. Good thing a lot of the girls here are...well, of average height. That does not, however, imply that you should be any less fearful of us. After all, they did come up with that phrase "small but terrible." *evil laugh*

Anyhow, I'm around 5'6", and like it just perfectly fine.

I've met Matt and Joel in real life, and yes, they are both quite tall. I've met Milly, too, and don't remember her seeming all that short... *grins*
