I know this is a little early, but I'm super excited because I have a new novel idea and I want to use it for NaNo this year! Who else is planning to participate?

Here's some questions for you to answer. As for me:

What is your NaNoWriMo username?
I go under the username "twylawrites"

How many years have you participated?
This is my second year. Last year I only made it to 200+ words on the site, 700+ words on a document. :P

What sort of story will you be writing?
I will be trying my hand at a Science Fiction/Fantasy novel this year.

~Calen

Oh cool! *is happy to see this thread so early* :dieshappy:

My username on NaNo is RunningWolf. :D (Should we make a list in the first post so it's easier to see everyone's names?)

Um...third year if you don't count my first year which was on the ywp version (when I made a smaller goal than 50,000).

Hmm....I'm thinking it'll be fantasy but I'm still figuring it out. :D

I'll make a point of doing that, Lycanis. :D

Note for everybody:
If you have the ability to, feel free to add your name to the list. If not just shoot me a PM and I can do that for ya. ^^ Either that or I'll check up on here and add them myself.

My NaNo username is Lady Idril Aravis.

I've been doing NaNo for five years now. 2007 was my very first year, I think.

This November, I'll be writing a historical fiction novel about an event that happened during WWII. :)

I'm not planning on participating. I'll be too busy with college and critiquing. And on the off chance I have time to write, I'll be too busy writing to get on a the NaNo forum. ;)

However, I can still answer the questions, I guess. :D

My NaNo username is The Leprechaun King. (Surprise. ;)) (Feel free to friend me, but don't expect me to friend back for a while. XD)

Last year was my first year. I think I made about 200 words then. Maybe less.

If I do write during November, I'll be focusing on a fantasy novel. :D

What is your NaNoWriMo username?
J. Grace Pennington, I believe... if not, I'll change it to that. ;)

How many years have you participated?
This will be my third year. :)

What sort of story will you be writing?
I have not decided yet... it might be the third Firmament novel Machiavellian, it might be Rumpled, one of the books in Aubrey Hansen's and my steampunk fairy tale series, or it might be something new I've been percolating for a few weeks. Or it might be something else. I need to decide. :P

What is your NaNoWriMo username?
I go by Jason Jackson on the YWP site; I don't have an account on the adult site. Not yet, anyway. :)

How many years have you participated?
I've been doing it since 2008, and wrote something for each one except the 2009 one (I couldn't come up with an idea).

What sort of story will you be writing?
I hope to try my hand at a military story, centered around the British SAS.

I have never participated in NaNo and I can't this year either due to my push to publish my first book. A writing challenge sounds like fun, though. How do you all like it?

I like it a lot; it really pushes you to get work done on your projects. And, having friends who are doing it with you helps a ton.

I like it. 'Tis challenging but lots of fun. At the end of 30 days, it might not be ready for publishing, but at least your have a novel (or part of it) in your hands. :)

Yes, it'd be awesome if you do it even if your health is still being naughty. *hopes Joel does get better before Nano though*

I'm doing NaNo! :D

My username is P. Rose Williams

This is my second year, fourth time if you count Camp NaNo. Two out of the three times I've done it I have completed it. :D

I'm going to be writing my fantasy novel, book 1 of the CotK Trilogy.

What is your NaNoWriMo username?: I can't remember. * wry * I can't even remember what my password is, or my email address. * giggles *

How many years have you participated?: Sort of only one year, I did the young writers program for three years before that. And I finished all four times.

What sort of story will you be writing?: I'm not sure I'll do it this year... * wrinkles nose * I'm still trying to decide.

Unfortunately, my doctor just informed me that I'm suffering from an acute form of the condition commonly known as college. Its symptoms include, but are not limited to, extreme fatigue, mild insanity, random blurting of words like "cytoplasm" and "dependent control", and a severe allergenic reaction to NaNoWriMo.

Due to this unfortunate turn of events, I won't be participating in NaNoWriMO this year.

I think I was being a bit ambitious myself, so we'll see if I can get any novel writing in. I may dedicate myself to building the plot, world, and characters during that time. We'll see how my homework goes. :P

I'm rather bummed about this.

*covers head* Nonononononoooooooooooooo not already! :x

I nearly killed myself trying to win last year. I got to 29k and decided to validate on my YWP account. This year I will be too old for YWP and won't have that to fall back on if I can't make it to 50k. This scares me.

On the other hand, I have become acquainted with Word Warring, and I can average about 10k a week without breaking a sweat. So many I'll try it again this year.

My username is Alpina'sQuill. http://nanowrimo.org/en/participants/alpina-squill

I pretty much have no clue if I'll be ready. I should work on my Sci Fi but I need to do lots of World Building.

*shrug*

I've started my novel, otherwise this would have been great! I could always pretend to be joining in and write 50k words on my present novel. ;)

My Nano name is Kypie27,

This is my first year, I just signed up yesterday. I've never so much as written one chapter of a book, so I'm hoping to fix that. :D

Well I've got a few ideas. I'm going to spend the next month working on plot and setting and stuff.

I'm in college, but really, I'll be happy with 5000 words, so time's not important. BTW do you have to wait until November to start?

What is your NaNoWriMo username?
Idk if they still have my last year's account up. But when I get my account I'll be Aratrea.

How many years have you participated?
This will be my second year of doing it; I reached 50k last year.

What sort of story will you be writing?
I'll be completely rewriting last year's NaNo from scratch. I'll be trying to avoid Nano-style writing (aka, the 'quickly-write-whatever-you-can-think-of-on-the-page weak kind of writing ;)) so I'm not sure if I'll reach the goal this year since I'll be trying to be more deliberate in word choice and such, but we'll see... My sort of story is fantasy, of course.

To be official, yeah you just write during November. :) It starts midnight the 31st. :D

Story Genre: Steampunk with a heavy dose of Fantasy, because I've never written a Sci-fi. XD

*is so excited* :dieshappy: I've been world-building, plot-outlining, and character-constructing for ages, but I still have a lot more to get done before November.

First, may I mention we are having an official Pre-NaNo planning chat session. :D You may thank Katie for the "official" part. ;) This thread tells all.

Well, I've decided I'll probably be doing it. In some form, at least. So:

Username: Thorondor
Years participated: Um, three? Four? I forget.
What sort of story: Well, probably my current fantasy idea that I hesitate to call a work in progress. Yes, I know you're supposed to do something new, but I can't really justify abandoning this, so...

You're a NaNo rebel then! :o I didn't know HW had any members in those proud ranks.

I was a rebel for both June and August Camp NaNo, and I recall that Elly was one for August too. ;)

I've never done NaNoWriMo before, and I am tentatively considering seeking to write 50,000 words on a novel in November, but I have a question: Is there any benefit to officially signing up for NaNoWriMo, instead of just writing the 50,000 words?

Cool!

I think so, but it depends on the person I guess. The NaNo site lets you see your progress, how many words you need per day to finish on time, your stats so far...and all that info for anyone you've buddied (other HWers mostly, for me) so you can poke people.
Also there are busy forums there that can be helpful (though of course we all have HW as well, their forum can also be useful ;) :D).

Thanks for the info. I'll probably join, though I don't know how active I'll be there. ;)

I like signing up just because you get a handy page to track progress, can see things like how much to write per day, have a page to see the stats of all your writing buddies, and other things. Personally, I don't even use the forum. I've maybe been on the forum part three or four times.

 You're welcome. (I don't know how active I'll be there either, other than to update my word count ;))

I'm an OCR, so I'm on the forums a lot. Even if I'm not doing NaNo.

I'll probably be doing it this year if I can get an idea to work on.

My username is:
Madefree

I've participated:
Last year.

The kind of story I'm writing is:
The one I manage to come up with. *doesn't have any ideas yet*

NaNo username: Roager

I'm going to compete again this year. I've competed three times and I'm batting 2 out of 3. Last year I only wrote 3,000 words and that was the first time I went in with a plan and outline. This year I plan to jump in cold like I did the other 2 times I completed 50k. ^_^
