Apologies if this doesn't go here; I wasn't sure where else to put it.

Basically, I'm trying to think of a name for the Word in my fantasy novel. It's kind of hard for me, admittedly. Character naming is more my strong point. :P

If any of ya'll could give advice or something like that, that would be awesome.

EDIT: Noooo, I didn't mistype 'fantasy' as 'fantasty'. What gave you that idea? >_>

One thing that might help is to consider what possible names for the Bible would fit the essence of your world. For example, a world of mermaids might call the Bible the Ocean Scroll.

Ah, right, right. My world is mainly Elves and Humans, with humans being the most common; the Elves keep to themselves. :P

ESV = The Elvish Standard Version ;)

Not really.

Would The Book or a word that means that in elvish be too lame?

Hmm... I don't think so... lemme look up what 'the book' is in Elvish.

An Leabhar. Hmm. It doesn't have quite the right ring to it... I could always convert from Irish Gaelic to something a little less known... hmm.

If it's a more ancient-type world, scrolls + something would work great. When thinking about the Bible, some words that come to mind are truth, wisdom, everlasting and others along those lines. Or you could translate one of said words into Elvish or another language. I once used The Book of Truth as the Bible's title in one of my created worlds, although it was sci-fi, not fantasy.

Works in progress

The Skyriders Trilogy (outlining)

What Waits in Shadow (fantasy short story--editing)
The Stranger's Gift (fantasy short story--editing)
The Crystal Orb (fantasy short story--writing)
And too many half-started ideas to count

That would be cool. An Leabhan is 'The Book' in Elven, but I don't really like the flow of that... hmm...

Thanks for the suggestion though, it helps!
