I don't know anything about Lulu, but that sounds like a good idea too.

* smiles * The Council is an inner circle of Marcher Lords who are managing the long term goals of HW.

I will look into Lulu.

Congratulations, Janin!

I just noticed how much HW is like a well-run kingdom:
King: Sir Emeth (or would you prefer Regent, a representative of the King of Kings?)
Counsellors: Inner Circle (Proverbs 11:14!)
Dukes and Duchesses: Marcher Lords
Lords and Ladies: Moderators
Pages: HRM

...end of bunny trail. :)

That's an interesting way to look at it Raven.

Man Janin, that mean you skipped a level! Congratulations by the way. I was surprised to go to Chat and see your name in yellow instead of the typical purple. That will help me keep your replies seperate from mine!

How is the project coming along?

Wow! Congrats Janin! Somehow I expected it would come eventually, I just didn't think so soon. Oh, uh, this is supposed to be about fantasy music. Right. Um...

Wow, thanks guys. I didn't realize I was getting congratulated over here! This is why I established the existence of welcoming threads for promotions. :D

In two posts I go from asking what the Council is to being on it... I was instantly overwhelmed upon accepting my appointment which is why I've been neglecting this project, and hence my welcomes. Thanks again. :D

Okay, on topic, I have a cold. But when I get over it I will be getting some recording done and you can all hear how it sounds. :D Meanwhile, anyone else have any status updates on their various songs or are we all busy with the birthday party? Probably much won't be done on this until that's over, really.

Well, I've extended my song; I'm not sure how much longer to make it, and I need to get back in touch with Evening to see if she's still interested in writing the music for it.

And I'm starting another song, so we'll see how that turns out.

I have another song here. It doesn't have any music yet though. (Hint hint. ;))

I am pretty good with piano, but I don't have a good way of recording :( I wrote a song that I titled "Dragon Ride" It is just on the piano and no lyrics though..........
I could take a video or a not good quality recording of it if you would like me to.

Malchus, I think that the fact that the song has no lyrics is fine. I personally like some tracks with no words, they add some variety. I'm not sure what to do about the recording situation though. :?

This topic has been quiet since November, so I decided to wake it up from its winter hibernation ;). Who's still interested in this project, and how far have we come in our individual musical endeavors?

As for me, Evening and I were collaborating on that song for a while, but we went our seperate ways when a wave of life outside HWs hit us. Nothing's come of the other song I was working on, I'm going to redo it.

Anyone else?

I haven't really been following this post until now. Just recently I've started writing a poem "The Cadence of War" that I think could make a pretty good marching song.

How about it? Could you use another song?

I could try a fantasy, instrumental song. I'll have to wait until after I finish "Midnight Train" though.

It's certainly possible, if the fact that most fantasy worlds don't have electric guitars in them isn't a problem. :D

There is a rock style fantasy song by Two Steps from Hell... Eruwaedhiel probably knows which one I'm talking about and could give you the name...

I think it's Dragon Rider, and I think it's in the Dynasty album. I'd find it, but youtube isn't working with me right now . . .

What do y'all think of my "Listen Lullaby"?

Listen to the wind blow {--listen to the wind blow}
Come and meet the creatures {--come and meet the creatures}
Watch the story unfold {--watch the story unfold}
Hear of the author's plans {--hear of the author's plans}

The top one is the chorus, and the rest are the verses. It's my basic idea. :D

I can play the drums, and I don't mean just rock drums. If any of these songs need bongos or timpanis I can add that.

I think we need a plan of what to do next. Should we make a list of songs we want on the album and get people to record them or just get people to send in recordings and compile a list from there?

Greetings.

As you know, this project is suffering from something. I believe it is lack of direction, purpose, but mostly lack of deadlines. Without a deadline interest flags. :(

Well, I have good news and bad news. What I'd like to do is put this project on long term hold. For the next six months or so I'm going to be helping with the Poetry book project. In return, however, when that's done, Airianna is coming back to help with this project. So. Poetry first, then Music. and believe me, when Poetry is done this will get done too. We'll use what we learn about organizing from over there and whip this little project into shape.

Sound good?

It might be a good idea to go ahead and make an official announcement telling songwriters who are interested to work on a song or two during the next six months. Then, when the time for the project comes around, the songwriters can submit their finished songs, and a certain number of songs can be chosen for the project.

I'd love to help write music once the project starts back up.

I can write lyrics. Seer put a tune to my Seeker poem, but neither of us can put it to paper. I can't compose, but if you want something to write the music for, I can pull out something for you. I'm not actually sure if you can use my Seeker poem, though. I'll have to look back at the policy for the anthology it's in, as it was entered in a contest.
(This is, if you're using songs with lyrics. I didn't read the whole thread. It does say fantasy, so maybe Seeker isn't exactly what you're looking for.)

I would love to help. I can also play piano, but I have no means to record.

I have FL Studio for final mixing, and I need some experience. It also has samples of pretty much every instrument, so if we can't find someone to play a certain part but REALLY want that part in the song, I can synthetically insert it. Keep in mind, fake computer instruments don't sound NEARLY as good as the real things. I can play drums and sing, but I think I should stick to the mixing. . . :blush:

. . . I can write lyrics, but probably not the fantasy type.

Sounds good. :)

I can certainly write a song or two, both lyrical and instrumental. :D

I can also sing (both lead and harmonies), and play guitar. And if anyone needs mandolin, I'm not as good at that, but I thought I'd add that, too. I can also play a tiny bit of upright bass. ^.^
