Hello, I'm back.
See, I've been playing with GIMP, trying out the filters, seeing what I can do with it, and I decided to make avatars out of my experiments. Here are two more I've come up with:

And then here is my "Handprint" series. This is so fun!

P.S. The white hand print won't show up when you click on it, but it looks like the others, only white. I could have done a red hand print, but I decided not to.

GIMP is doing good things for me; I'm learning a lot. Here are two more:

Hey... Do you make those images transparent to make the gray beneath come through? That's... cool.

Would this one be allowed? I want it to be private.

I hate to be picky... but... I decided to erase that little annoying shadow. xD

So... the third and final version of hopefully my soon-to-be avatar.

It looks good, Eli! Just one little thing... It has to be 145x145 for fantasy. 170x170 is for historical. Sorry to make you edit it again.

Hmph. I don't have an easy way to change its size and preserve the transparency of the .PNG form... I'm going to have to Google around... but right now, I'm off to work.

I used a higher quality compressor though, that preserved my original transparency. xD I'm OCD about Photo-manip stuff. It has to be perfect, or I don't do it at all.

I can add a better-looking shadow to it if you want, using alpha blending so that it actually looks like a shadow, and not some opaque object down there.....

If you'd like to try, you're welcome to. I'd like to see what the plain bowtie looks like as an avatar though. I'm torn, and I'd like to compare the visual styles.

'k...I uploaded it. With the margins removed off the edges of the bowtie, it actually didn't need to be resized. I added an alpha-version of the shadow, but I can remove that if you want. I'm not sure what I think of it myself.

I like it best with shadow. Thank you very much.
