So here's the thing: I used to like bacon quite a lot. Not that I ate it much, but I liked it. And then this year, I had bacon as part of breakfast on my birthday, and I was all happy about that because it had been so long. But I came to realize that morning that I don't actually like bacon, and haven't liked it since. Way too much fat and grease for one thing...makes me feel awful if I eat it.

Bad heart history runs in my dad's family. I try to avoid things that might make me more susceptible...

This thread *is* hilarious. I love how there's like a language barrier between the folks who think fat and grease are nasty, and those who just love it to death.

*Chuckles*

Who likes their bacon burnt? Mother never understands why I make my bacon so dark, but for me it just has to be really crispy and burnt.

I like my bacon....

Burnt, broiled, fried, boiled, baked, cooked, steamed, grilled, microwaved, deep-fried; even raw.

Okay, not raw, and I haven't tried everything up there, but still. Bacon is good.

I love filling out questions! :dieshappy:

Do you like bacon?
Pretty sure it's the best thing in the whole world, I'm also pretty sure that it's food of God. (I can totally envision a bacon-eating Jesus?)

What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten with bacon?
Mmmm... one time we had this chocolate fondue... and we had bacon... so... You put those two together!

What's the most bacon you have ever had in one day?
Oddly enough; only like 5-6. Though I always feel like I didn't have enough bacon!

Bacon fun fact?
I only eat turkey bacon. According to my loving mother, 'regular' bacon has "ginormous" amounts of sodium and fat and any little unhealthy particle one could think of. So I've managed to not have no bacon but turkey bacon in my house for most of my life. And I love turkey-bacon!

Oh, my friend! You have missed out! Though I totally respect your parent's decision. I like turkey bacon, but compared to real bacon, it tastes almost like cardboard. But, again, totally understand your parent's choice there.

Turkey jerky....like I said. :D

It's better than the regular stuff, though, IMHO.

I like my bacon quite the opposite of burnt. It hurts your tongue when it's too harshly cooked. I like it verrrrrry juicy and verrrrry... ... ...springy.

Yea, my parents don't let me grill their bacon anymore. They like it like that, and if I cook it it ends up exactly the opposite.

Due to my PRP, I have had to go off of all pork products in order to ensure toxicity in my body stays lower. Pork is very, very toxic.

I miss some things, though. :D Turkey bacon just does not taste the same. :P

In heaven we'll have pork trees, and the bark will be bacon. And it won't be toxic, and the fat and grease won't affect you. (: Or so I like to speculate.

I don't think so...people would buy it even if you weren't selling it, and it doesn't necessarily hurt someone unless they misuse it (or overuse it). Otherwise you could feel guilty for selling most anything since you could hurt yourself with almost anything. ;)

Yeah...I kinda don't think we'll have meat in the new Heaven and Earth, it seems like if God were going to make things perfect again he would remove all signs/results of the fall--and eating meat is the result of a result of the fall and requires a result of the fall to work (at least, in the way it always has worked--killing something).

Heh...sorry for getting off topic...

(random silly question to qualify my post as at least partially on topic:)
What color would bacon have to be to keep you from eating it?

I don't think there will be slaughtering pigs in the New World either. Which is why I said we'd have better things. :)

Let's see...

I don't think bacon could be any color where I wouldn't eat it. It would depend on WHY it was that color. (Mold, radiation poisoning, etc...)

Someone could food color it any shade they wanted and it'd still taste just as good and not be poisonous. :P

Kinda thought that was what you were getting at. :)

Good answer! I think some food coloring is bad for you, though...but anyway I agree, it depends on why it is the color it is. ;)

Give me one good reason why meat in heaven has to come from an animal. ;) More seriously, I wouldn't be surprised either way. And I'm pretty sure we won't mind, no matter which way it is.

In the new world, there will be a bacon tree. No slaughtered pigs required. ^_^

It's like I said....meat will grow on trees, and bacon will be the tree bark... (:

I kinda think there might still be slaughter of animals on the new earth....wouldn't that be a great reminder of Christ's sacrifice? As sure as the holes in his hands and feet, we'll never want to forget that.

EDIT: Aaand...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3DAjQhChRs (: "It tastes like heaven, but it looks like Bacon!" xD

:bawl:

Eating animals is a result of post-fall man. (Noah was the first.) Why would we mimic that in heaven? Also...we'll have Jesus. There's no way we're going to forget. We don't need animal sacrifice here to remind us. Not to mention, I hate to think of eating bacon as somehow similar to Christ's amazing gift...

Plus...if cows and horses are being killed, it's not heaven. It's sad. :P

Anyway. :D I shall desist from derailment of thread. ;)

Funny, meat is mentioned as part of the great wedding feast we'll take part in. And oh yes, I bet they'll have bacon there. If it's not on the menu, I'll publically request it:

"Dear Lord... thank you for dying for us, for making us your bride. In complete seriousness, I humbly request that bacon will be on the menu. Thank you so much! Amen."

(That was completely serious, and no, I'm not concerned by the fact that this is my 666th post.)

Just a wee reminder that if we want to discuss theology, then let's do it in theology :) Then again....you might give Nemo a heart attack when she comes back and see's a thread titled "BACON!! Will It Be In Heaven?!"
