I am short. Although my Mom likes to call it "Petite" which sounds better, I think. Anyway, I am only 4'11 1/2 (Almost 5'0!) but I can still hope to grow a little more because I am only 14. But my mom comes from a long line of short- I mean petite ladies. My dad is 6'0 but of course I didn't get his height. At least I don't have to worry about younger siblings passing me, as I am the youngest and shortest.

Agreed. Last time I checked I was about 5'8-9 (hard to tell because I have hair on)...and that was how tall I was months ago...I'm 18.

I'm a solid 6' and stopped growing a long time ago.

My father is 6' 3" and my mother and sister are about 5' 5" each.

My younger brothers are 5' 8" (done growing), 6' 3" (still growing), and 5' 7" (still growing.)

My brothers and I are strange in the fact that we look absolutely nothing alike in both height, facial features, and body builds. You put us in a lineup and nobody would know we were related.

I ran into a guy standing in line at a movie theater who was well over 7' tall. I felt like a small child next to him and I don't feel small very often.

I'm sure I'd feel the same way, likely even more so. My height is strange, because so many people are shorter than I am and so many are taller than I am.

Yeah, you're just under average (average is 5' 10"). That would be weird...

I'm so used to being taller than 99.9% of everybody.

My father is 6', mother is 5' 6", my almost-18-year-old brother is 5' 10" or 5' 11", my 15 year old brother is nearing 6' 1", but he's an inch or two behind where I was at his age so I don't think he'll get taller than me. And my younger brother is on the small side...he's ten and not even as tall as I was at age eight. So, it looks like I'll probably always be the tallest in the family by at least an inch or two.

I'm 15 years old and 5'5". So I'm guessing I'm average height. I don't know if I've stopped growing yet or not, though. Hopefully I'll be a couple inches taller. I'm finally almost taller than Shawn.

Oh, that does explain my predicament then, I didn't know that 5'10" was average.

Seems like you should have some time to grow more, at least a couple inches. But then... *shrugs* I don't know when people are supposed to stop growing, I've heard too many ideas about that.

I just remembered seeing a fireman that looked to be at least 7 feet tall (almost had to duck to keep from banging his head on the doorframe), and seeing one of the tallest guys in our church have to tilt his head to talk to him looked weird...

A couple times I saw a guy who had to duck his head to go through the sliding glass door of a major department store. He worked there.

That'd be annoying, I'm glad I'm not that tall. Imagine trying to go caving... *head starts to hurt immediately* No don't, actually.

By the way...how on earth should I know if I'm tall or short for my age? Judging by my friends...(which are pretty much all taller than I am except for some of them that are several years younger)...I guess I'm short for my age. *shrugs*

Google it...you can find charts that show the percentile heights by age. I'm...yeah, among men, about 99.5th percentile. Add girls, and it's even worse.

I actually do not have short people syndrome. I'm short, and I own it.

I've grown 2 inches in two years. So if I grow more, I doubt I'll get any taller than 5'0.

I'm in the 90th percentile according to one chart, the 95th according to another. Nobody ever agrees... even doctors.

I believe 95th-97th is about right for 6' 4". I've done quite a bit of research about it.

*blinks* Um, seeing as you're only 12, I'd be very surprised if you didn't get to be taller than 5'0...You'd have to stop growing a lot sooner than most people, or grow at an absurdly slow crawl for the rest of the time you're growing. And you're around the age that most people start growing faster, I think...

Hey, when I was your age I grew about half an inch in one year...for several years straight. Only fairly recently I started growing a little faster.
