I just got a new strat on christmas :) Normally I play an Ibanez rg series, but the strat has a beautiful warm and mellow sound when played without distortion and I think I'll use it to re record some softer parts on the music I'm working on. I'll still do the heavy rockin with the Ibanez... it's my baby. I love the new axe (that's guitar player slang for guitar) though... sounds great and plays as well as the ibanez so I'm happy...

Sounds like a great guitar. :D

I'm pretty thrilled at the moment. I had my guitar in DADGAD tuning, and figured out how to play a Jason Gray song in that tuning without having any chords, just the song in my head. :D

I saw an electric/acoustic guitar at a junk shop up at our holidaying location last week, and I very nearly bought it. It was $160, and it was a dark walnut kind of colour, steel string, and I can't quite remember the brand name... Kaylee, or something. I find it hard to walk past guitars. :P

What? A thread about guitars and I haven't posted?

Believe it or not, my skills are not merely limited to loglines! ;)

I've been playing guitar for... *counts on hands* Six or seven years now, it'd have to be.

I can't say how good I am, but I can say that I have a kind of interesting style that's geared toward playing traditional hymns at my church where the "band" consists of an organ, a piano, a flute, two violins, and two guitars. On days when everyone's there.

Though you could judge my abilities for yourselves, I suppose... There are three videos in this playlist that involve me playing guitar: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF668912E0A0BA1CA

A style geared towards playing traditional hymns sounds good to me. :D

No electric acoustic yet. I'm looking at getting the Seagull full-wood Maritime guitar.

A guy at church did give me a Squire stratocaster though, so I've also been playing that. It's fire engine red.

I've heard that stratocasters are good.

My brother just bought himself a Variax, James Tyler, electric guitar. It's very cool. :D It works digitally though. It can make the sound of any electric guitar that has been made. :D It's pretty amazing.

Jacob took it to music practise last night. :D It was really funny, because there's been an ongoing sort-of joke between Jacob and the drummer (who is also a good guitarist) about how bad his old electric didn't stay in tune. He would do his best to tune it, then hand it back to Jacob shaking his head and laughing. He was very impressed with his new one, and as he was looking it over, he strummed it and said, "It sounds very nicely in tune," with a smirk, and we laughed. :D

Everyone on the team were pretty interested in it, and they stopped and started playing around with it together, and Jo had to pull everyone into line saying, "Come on! Enough with the $1,600!"

Jacob is very pleased with it, especially that it stays in such good tune. :D

Whoops! Haven't been here in a while.

I've been learning a couple new things on my own because the guy who was teaching me didn't know anything else to teach me. I've learned a couple more songs and have been working on my singing more. I took a couple videos, but I don't get a chance to upload them often. I may do another soon so y'all can hear.

Did you end up doing another video?

Yup! http://www.youtube.com/ashleygailmusic

Need to get some new stuff up soon.

It went pretty good, actually. I have a couple more I'm doing here in the next few months, gotta pick out some songs.

I play the guitar. Just a few chords though. It's a classic guitar, it's not mine, it belongs to Idril. :D Do most of you make albums?

Would you use cover songs or original songs for it?

No, I don't make albums, and I can't say I really want to either. I play pretty much for fun. I wouldn't mind playing in some jazz jams though. That would be fun.
