We don't lose any traffic at all by getting the .com. It actually increases traffic, because people instinctively use .com instead of .org when they are looking for something. They will both go to the same place.

The other reason that we need it is because Holy Worlds is going to become a company eventually.

The subdomains is actually not a good idea for a few reasons which I don't really have time to explain. The sub-directories system works better.

Maybe so someone doesn't but holyworlds.com and make it into something we don't want associated with us.

All very good reasons. I guess I just didn't see a reason to spread the site out between both...but I guess you're the one in charge. :D

It basically just provides two doors to get into one house. Easier access. :)

Yeah, and as soon I can figure out how to save my scanned images as things other than pdf. files, I'll scan the blaster up.

I haven't read the whole thread. >.< But I'd join it in a heartbeat. And post wildly as well. ^_^ Can't say I'd be able to help any other way though at the moment anyways.

Well we got past the domain name shift, so that is good. We just need to find the time to set it all up.

Do you happen to know anything about phpbb and have some time on your hands? ;)

You know I don't know anything about that Sir Emeth, that's for sure! However I'd be interested to know what it is in relation to the site. No detailed explanation, just a brief description. :D I’d appreciate it for my own educational purposes.

Basically I need someone to use the admin panel for phpbb3 (which is the software that is running the forums) to create groups, categories, rooms, etc., and get their permissions all set up. Most can be copied from this forum's setup, just with different names. We have the names pretty much figured out.

Does it require lots of coding and such?

I can do probably do that, and since I'm still technically in middle school, I don't have to worry about interfering with work.

Projects. Yup, that's what I've got. So many books to read, so many books and short stories to write, so many cool pieces of music to arrange or write, etc. :?

I registered on the sci-fi forum...

Tell me you don't have that time during the day! I envy you! I keep my computer on all the time, so whenever I have a spare moment I pop on, otherwise the majority of my stuff on the site is done at night (my mom says if I keep cutting into my sleep I'll start getting ugly bags under my eyes and walk around the house like a zombie).

I can help too. I should have plenty of time, especially since I stay up late all the time and haven't been on facebook much. I don't know coding of any sort really (although I might be able to learn a little bit), but typing and clicking and moving stuff I can do :P
What kind of stuff needs done?

I can!! I did that a bit on the Debugger Forum and I didn't break anything...

Did we ever decide what even we're setting up the rooms and stuff as? Names that is. There was still disagreement over whether it was space themed or just sciences offices or what.

Umm, I don't remember when or where he told me that. I think it was in a post on the forum, and it wasn't actually directed at me, It was a generalized statement. I’m pretty sure. The times I’ve talked with Sir Emeth it hasn’t been about that. You must have missed it, I’m sure.

Hmm... I shall get to the bottom of this!

Right away! Tomorrow! Er.... night! Tomorrow night!

Wow, alright.

Everyone who wants to help go register at holyworlds.org/scifi. I or one of the other admins will activate you.

In the creation of the site ranking will be odd. We will be making a lot of people full admins so they can help get it set up, but when it does get set up, those permissions will be revoked, and all ranking will be decided based on how people are doing. No hard feelings. :)

When you get activated drop me a pm on there letting me know what you want to help with, and I will give you the appropriate permissions.

We are still fiddling with the names for everything, since we can change them as needed. ;) We are relatively settled on what we are going to use for now, though. Suggestions are still welcome.

When you get permissions on the scifi forum, I will also add you to the Management google docs folder that we are using to organize naming systems.

Any questions I missed?

Nope, I think you did a good job clearing the waters.

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Works in progress:

The Diegosian Mark, 115,600 words (Preparing for Publication)
The Diegosian Rider, 121,400 words (Finished)
The Diegosian Warrior, 15,000 (In Progress)

Oh, I see. There's another mysterious and elusive Google doc folder.
*happy again* Okay! See you over there!

I just got here, but I'm excited there will soon be a sci-fi extension! I've been alternating between fantasy and sci-fi since I started writing.

What, pray tell, do you still need volunteers for? Beside posting. :) I don't know if I can commit to anything (though I might be able to take on a greater responsibility after Christmas), but I'd like to consider it. I am clueless anything technical, but I'm a ready writer and organizer.

Welcome aboard Heri! Glad you are excited about the sci-fi forum.

Mainly what you would be good at is getting conversations off to a running start. :)

Now here is an exciting tid-bit: A prominent, published (really great too) author is not only interested in HW, but is excited about the pending sci-fi forum, and wants to join!

Oh, Janin of Yen knows how to do sub-forums. Would you mind helping Varon with the forum set up?
