Ladies and gentlemen! The time you have been so eagerly waiting for has come! I present to you....week one of our quest to slay the procrastination dragon!

Brave warriors! Your quest this week is to write a drabble on the theme of "longing."

As a reminder:
The Rules wrote:
1. All challenges must be declared completed by midnight Saturday in your timezone (please specify your timezone when you sign up).
2. Personal challenges must be declared by midnight Monday in your timezone.
3. Personal challenges cannot be repeated.
4. The organizer reserves the right to veto any challenges that seem too simple. (i.e. writing a sentence)

Also, I would like to remind everyone that any weekly challenge pieces that are posted on the forum will be eligible to be featured in our newsletter once it gets off its feet. Please post a link in this thread if you would like it to be considered.

If you could write your sign-up post in a similar format to the following, it would be appreciated:
Goal: weekly challenge (or whatever you decide to do)
Timezone: PDT

On your mark! Get set! Go!!! *fires pistol*

(for those who are wondering, I am not participating this week due to extreme busy-ness)

Was midnight Saturday supposed to be March 31? If it was, how are we supposed to post it before midnight when this thread isn't started until 1 hour and 10 minutes before midnight? Just curious.

Goal: Write 1000 words in my novel.
Timezone: CDT

It means next Saturday, not this Saturday just gone, I think.

I'm still slightly misunderstanding the rules; can you do a personal goal and the weekly goal? If so, do you list both or...

I finished mine too... sort of. Days ago. I only succeeded in finishing because I decided to chop the chapter in half, though... :P

Going through the story one more time and then putting it on the forum! (I also have to go over the story that goes before it, so that people can read them in order if they want to).

I decided I had too much on this week, by the way, to join in. I'll hopefully do it next week.

If your goal was a story, you should go to the short stories forum in the fireside shortstories

and if you want it considered for submission to the newsletter when it starts, you should post a link here. Hope that helps! :D

I hate failing goals. And yet I am forced to declare my personal goal for this week - 500 words of world building - not yet finished and therefore failed. :bawl: I tried, but there was too much stress and busyness. I'll set a smaller goal for next week.

I'll take my penalty for not completing and and try to catch up. *Sigh* I didn't want to start this with minus points after the first week, but...

Great job, everyone! :D

M/L/S: If you would like it to be considered for inclusion in the monthly feature in the newsletter, then please post it in the short stories room and include the link here.

Elly: That's all right! Join us next week! Which is actually this week now. :P :beg:

Aubrey: *happily eats cupcake*

Elanor: I hope you can join us! :D

Azlyn: Awww! I'm sorry! Since it's the very first week, and I feel compelled to be lenient at the moment, I won't put you in the negative points. ;) But I warn you all that this is the only week I will be lenient.

Also, just a clarification; only the pieces created as part of the weekly challenge will be considered for the newsletter.

You don't have to be lenient if you don't want to. If you give me minus points, it will give me more motivation to work harder.
