As of recently, people in chat have been subject to odd problems and visual damage. One of the council recommended that I tell people what I'm doing with chat, so this is the announcement.

I will post what I'm doing in this thread, so that people don't think chat is turning into some sort of monster. ;)

March 2nd, 2012-Easy Styles

This is my current project; styles that can be applied just like in a forum post. My plan is to make buttons for font sizes, bold, italic, underline, quote, images (upon recommendation from Vanya), and maybe a few basic colors. (Dark Red, Light Red, Red, Green, Dark Green, Light Green, etc.)

Questions about the latest project? Ideas? :)

Thank you for doing this, Jay! :D

Styles in chat would be awesome! My only thought is that simple, gchat-style shortcuts might be more practical than buttons. But you're the one doing the tech work, so ultimately it's up to you, methinks. :)

I'm thinking about those. But for the moment, these buttons work well. :)

A button for an image embed would be nice.

Minimization button for PC! *pounces* Thanks, Vace! That is one thing that would be very helpful. :D

Thanks for doing this, Jay. Could you put some or all of the smilies on there so we don't have to try to figure out what all the codes are? I know a lot of people already have them memorized, but I am not good with all these different codes for everything. I can remember some of them, but only the ones I have used a lot :D.

Really? I have them memorized. Though I think it might be a good idea too, if you can fit them in.

I'll create something similar to a PC box, that can be closed or opened instantly. You'll be able to enter the smilies into the regular chat only though, but it should help. :)

Oh, one more thing - could you get it so that the newer smileys show up in PC?

Suggestion: New "Status Jewel."
In addition to being able to be Online, Busy, or Invisible, I think that an "On-Hand for Business" button would be useful. It could (I am not techy) work like this.
I am online, and want to be available if people need help writing, need help with how HW works, have a question, etc. but don't want to just hang out with HWers because I am an anti-social villain (or because I am otherwise busy but interrupt-able).
If I go invisible, no one will know I am there to help. If I stay "Online" nice people will want to chat. If I am "Busy" no one knows what that means, it could mean I am in chat but don't want to talk, am in chat but replying slowly, or am not actually paying any attention at all. There could be something hopefully relatively simple like a sound-cue or something that could request the attention of any "On Hand" individuals present.

Sound like something anyone would feel like doing?
