I have no idea how realistic (or not) this idea might be, but I was wondering if you could make the 'edit' button (yeah, the one right next to the quote button) glow red a little bit when your mouse goes over it, so that you can better differentiate it from the 'quote' button right beside it. Just a thought on how we might reduce the vandalized posts casualty rate. ;)

It is actually not a very common thing to have happen, I believe. I know from my own experience that if I had just paid a little more attention I would not have made the mistake.

Making the edit button have red text instead of white might be a good idea.

I only did it once, and after that I decided I'd have to be more careful in future.

The way to tell is if you hit quote there will be quote marks, and if you have pressed edit by accident, there will be no quote marks. :)

You're both right...you don't really see half the forum getting destroyed by crazy editors (and the even crazier Council members- :x did I say that out loud?).
Anyway, I'm just making a suggestion to avoid a problem, I'm not trying to overreact to a small mistake I made...and you're right Elanor...I've only done it once too and have been very careful since. :D Good idea about the quote marks too, thanks!

I think that would really reduce the amount of times people click on it instead of the quote button. If it's not too much trouble for the smallness of the problem, I think I would not be the only one to appreciate it. ;)

But whatever seems best, do what you will.

*wonders what Hannah thinks *

Andrew would be the one to tell you if he can or not. I'm not even sure it is possible, although I assume it is.

It's quite possible, though it'd involve actually replacing the image with another that has red text. I could do it, if y'all think it's necessary.

Well...I guess I don't want you to do it if I'm the only one that thinks it's a good idea...so unless someone else agrees with me that it's a good idea maybe you shouldn't worry about it. :P

Another option would be to move the edit button so that it's not right next to the quote button. That might cause more confusion than necessary, though...just throwing an idea out there. :D

Red might be nice. It would definitely stop any problem, and it's a pretty aesthetic. XD

I, personally, have never actually vandalized someone's post on accident. (Oops. That sounds like I've vandalized someone's post on purpose. ) I've STARTED to several times, but that's different! ;)

Well, I will say I don't think I've even accidentally clicked the edit button since I accidentally vandalized, so maybe it's not necessary...for me right now anyway. So whatever seems best to you. :)
