A quart-size challenge to help the hungry.

Nowadays with so many people losing their jobs, lots of people (at least here) are having trouble putting food on their families tables, and clothes on their backs.
Dry meals in a jar are one way we can express Christ’s love towards the families struggling around us. Simple, balanced, and healthy, these meals are not only easy to prepare, but are nutritionally balanced, by simply adding water, hot or cold. Join me in the challenge to create recipes, evaluate them and donate the dry meals to those who are needy.

1. Jar meals should be healthy, and, nutritious, simple opposed to extravagant, and contain the proper components of a balanced meal, i.e. the basic food groups.
2. Food must be able to eat with the addition of either boiling or room temperature water. Specify on label/note the steps required, i.e. place in pot with x amount of water and let boil.
3. Food may not contain anything likely to spoil at room temperature, i.e. eggs, dairy (unless powdered) meat, cooked vegetables or cooked fruit.
4. Quart jars are probably the best size for a family, seeing as you could make a mix that would last at least one meal. Or if you only have jelly jars, separating the meal into pint-sized portions would be enough for one person, or multiple children.
5. Label the jars according to the meal, and tell how to prepare it.

The categories for this pint-size challenge are as follows: Breakfast (suggestion: oatmeal) Lunch/Dinner (suggestions: rice, pasta/noodles)

I will try these recipes, and with your permission, donate the recipes as well as meals to those who distribute such things to the families are struggling here on the island.

For each entry, an article of clothing will be donated to a charity clothes closet.

Would you be my pa'tner in spreading the gospel and vanquishing hunger one family at a time?
