Here is one of my newer characters, Dimitri. He is seventeen (one of my most favorite ages for my younger heroes), and is blind. He has a very special gift though: he has the ability of echolocation, like unto a dolphin. Like a dolphin, he can make out the shapes, materials, and even the colors, of the things around him. His story is still coming, and he is the only truly developed character at this time.

Dimitri: Hello all.

Me: Let us see how this goes...

Sila: So how do you pronounce your name? I know about a lot of languages, but that one really doesn't make sense with my mouth. It keeps wanting to say 'dih mi tree' and that is not how it is spelled. And how do you tell color by making sound? I know Elves can see color with their eyes shut, and Dwarves can see shapes with their eyes shut, and Sylphs can make all kinds of sounds, but I don't know how you could mix them all together to get you and still be able to do anything. Oh! Maybe you are like those Blessed Swords or Blades or whatever that the wanderers from Raschith and Altrusca tell me about. They have no eyes, so they see in all directions, you see. But I do not know if I believe that. Of course, you are not in Ithelak, so you are of course different. That is funny, us talking when we are not in the same world. * peeks into the forum * I think I like mine best...

Me: Alright, that is enough talking for now, you need to let Dmitri answer.

Sila: But I want to ask him if he likes to play with swords and climb trees...

Me: Sila, I am very busy, and I do not have time to let you stay here and talk all day.

Sila: Dmitri! Can you run fast? I used to race with Kimun...

Me: Sila, come away now!

Sila: You are mean.

Me: I can kill you sooner you know.

Sila: * pouts * I still don't think that is fair, just because I

Me: Goodbye all, I need to get Sila back to the dishes, and me back to my programming.

Me: I'm going to introduce one of my characters I haven't tried yet. So wish me luck.

Nat: Hey, Dimitri! I'm Nat. How are you?

Me: Nice, Nat! Keep up the courtesy!

Nat: No problem. So, how do your eyes work? In the Suzerain Realm, you're either blind or not. How's that work?

Dimitri: Sila, you pronounces my name correctly. It does sound like "duh-me-tree", you just slur it together and say it faster.

Me: In answer to the site question, I don't have the answer. Like I said, his echolocation is like a dolphin's. Scientists have yet to figure out how their echolocation can tell the difference between colors and materials, but they do know from many tests and experiments with dolphins, that they can.

Dimitri: I'm not really a sword person. I prefer my sais. I don't have the opportunity to climb trees very often, but I do enjoy going up the sides of houses, and running from rooftop to rooftop. *laugh* I can run fairly fast. No one has caught me yet, so I guess I must.

Me: He is quite fast. *pats Dimitri*

Dimitri: Hello, Nat. I'm doing quite well, thank you.

Nat: Glad to hear that. So, do you have any family?

Me: Don't even try to explain yours.

Nat: Shush! They don't know yet!

Me: Whoops, sorry!

Dimitri: I was an only child, and ten years ago, both of my parents were killed. The only person who is left is my bodyguard.

Sila: Ooooh! Kimun can do that! And what is a sais? I know about a lot of weapons, but not that one. I do not use weapons really, my father never let me. But I can hit really hard, but it hurts my fist. I tried to knock Kimun off of a log once, but he tripped me. So I am not that good. Not that he is not good, just I am not. I wish you could meet him, but he is away, and he probably wouldn't talk much. I like to talk.

Me: Yes, you do. Now I have to get back to programming. Say goodbye.

Sila: Farewell! Oh! Sorry about your parents. Kimun doesn't have a father either.

Dimitri: A sai is a kind of fighting knife. I carry six of them at times. *laugh* I'm sure you could be good if you keep trying.

Sila: I probably could, but he isn't here anymore * pout * He ran away because of his mean mother (at least I think she was mean). How long is a sai and what shape is it? Do you throw it or use it like a sword? Can you wrestle? Why do you have six?

Me: Enough Sila, come on

Sila: You are no fun.

Me: Right.

Dimitri: They can be thrown, or used as a short sword. Lengths differ from sai to sai as the user wants them. I carry six because... I don't want to run out in the middle of a fight. One in each boot, two on the back of my belt, and one on each shoulder.
