I've been talking this over with Zoe, and right now there are three meeting place candidates for the GA convention set for July, the weekend of the 29th.

Possible dates are Friday (the 27th) or Saturday (the 28th) and the three cities in question are Atlanta, Buford, and Marietta. So, which can you come to? Check all that apply, and please expound on your answers so that the planners can keep an eye on how many are coming, from where, what places or dates have the greater chance of you making it, etc.

Any suggestions for other cities are welcome.

God bless,
Suiauthon

I could definitely make Buford. Marietta and Atlanta are very slim chances. I'd give more details... but I'm one of the chief planners -- I'd be talking to myself.

I somehow missed reading "July" and saw just the "27th". "The twenty-SEVENTH? That's TOMORROW!"

I don't think I can come. Slim chance, though. Not promising anything.

Marietta is like, my back yard, pretty much. Atlanta should be no sweat, and Buford would probably be a possibility. The only thing I'm concerned about is the dates because that could be the time of my summer camp, but I'm not sure.

Honestly, if we have just a few people coming, I would consider asking my mom if we could host the convention at my house. I don't know if she'd say yes, but it's a possibility. We have lots of guests come to our house.

My guess is Shawn could make it, too. Especially if it's at my house.

RubyNessa might could make it, too.

What could also be fun would be to hike Kennesaw Mountain (it's only a mile high) or go to Stone Mountain (though we'd probably have to pay for that, and it's a lot farther away from us).

Some other interesting ideas:

Watch a movie! Whether at a movie theater, someone's house, or on a laptop in a park.

Dress up! We could dress in medieval clothes and talk in British accents all day, just get into some kind of costume, or plan something like that. It's fun to see if anyone notices. :D

Learn dances! I can teach some Scottish dances and get you all utterly confused. ;)

Have a murder mystery party! If we have enough people, and if we could raise 40 dollars, we maybe could have a murder mystery party. Though that's not likely to happen, is it?

I could kidnap everyone and make them work as my slaves! Or... not....

Anywho, I'm full of ideas, especially when it comes to things in my area. OOH! We could go roller skating and play laser tag at this place near us... we get unlimited on Fridays for 12 dollars per person.

@Captain :rofl:

My one concern with a movie would be that it would eat up a horrendous amount of time. Also, anything that costs money would probably be out for me.

Keep the ideas coming. :D My one idea so far has to do with Buford -- there is an awesome coffee shop/fairly large book store I know about that would make a perfect meeting place. ^_^

@Ruby I don't see why not. I set the poll up so that one can change their answer if their situation changes. :D

In that case, if we ended up doing it more near my area, hiking Kennesaw mountain might be a good option. It's free, has a free little Civil War museum (it was a site for a battle during the Civil War), and isn't too big. And perhaps, if Mom says yes (which, if there are few enough of us, she may), and if we wanted to do an overnight deal, we could have it at my house. We've got a nice lake in our back yard (literally), though the July heat may be too much to go on a paddle boat ride (Shawn and I know about that. ;) ).

A coffee shop/book store just sounds so... so... so... *whispers* writerly. ;)

But we may need to do it in the Buford area so that Ruby can come. *shrugs* :D

Bookshop! :D That would be awesome, but I also really like the idea of dressing up! :D

Because it's in July I might be able to drag my mum there (wherever there ends up being), claiming fifteenth birthday present...* whispers * But it's still a sort of slim chance. :P

The convention will be happening in less than three months, and that time is going to go fast. So! I need a headcount to make sure I know who can still come.

Captain
Raven
Me
Ruby
Shawn?

Is that correct? Or am I missing someone?

I think that's correct... And Shawn hasn't really been able to be on HW recently due to school, so I'll ask her *coughattempttodraghercoughcough* if she's planning on coming.

Check the other thread, but I'm pretty certain it's either July 27th or 28th, or both...

Well, what would work for you all?

I think we had narrowed down our choices to Atlanta and Buford. Could any of you only come if it was in Atlanta, only come if it was in Buford, or would both work?

I think I'm good either way. I would suggest Buford because the traffic in Atlanta can be really really bad. o.O Unless it's the same for Buford. But I'm doubting that...

Umm yeah! I live in Buford so Buford would definetly be the best! We could maybe go to Lake Lineir(?) because my house is right next to the lake and I could easily drive over! Plus there is hardly ever any traffic!

Buford would be best for me as well, so sounds good to me. :D

We could maybe go to Lake Lineir(?) because my house is right next to the lake and I could easily drive over! Plus there is hardly ever any traffic!

So choices for meeting so far are a bookstore in the area and Lake Lanier. Any other suggestions?

EDIT: I just realized: this is going to be in July. :P Some place airconditioned would probably be good.

I could help set up the skype session. I have an account available to use.

I like the idea of lake lanier! That would be so fun to go swimming, but I don't know if we'd want to do that. I think we'd more want to go to a book store, coffee shop, park, or someplace like that. Thoughts?

I think part of determining where we're going would be what goals we have in mind for this "meet-up." Is it to discuss writing? Get to know each other more and have fun? Write stuff? Something else? I think determining a goal would help us find a location. :D

Haha! I would think this get together would be to meet everyone and have fun! And I love swimming! But if you guys arent comfortable swimming that's fine! A bookstore would be great! What about The Mall of Georgia? Branes and Nobles is there! I go there all the time and it's nice and big if we just want to talk or something! :) And I think skype is a really great idea!!

Good thoughts. How 'bout all of the above? We could bring some of our best (and worst) writing to show off (and laugh over), discuss our current projects and writing in general, stuff that has helped us out. One of the things I wish the last convention could have had was writing conversation. We could bring our projects and have a time to word war. If we do Skype, Lake Lanier would probably be out (electronics and water don't agree with each other much), so that leaves us with buildings that have working air conditioning.
Mall of Georgia is an idea, but it might be a little crowded/noisy. *must pinpoint where the bookstore is so he can let everyone else know*

Any progress on finding the book store? :beg: Or we could do a coffee shop since they usually have wifi. ^_^ (Especially Starbucks)

I think it is necessary that I attend this convention via skype, since I organized the first. (:

*forgot to find the bookstore* :P

OK, I've asked my Mom, and she says that is not far from I-95 so it should be easy to get to. :D

Does everyone want the bookstore? If so, I can get together with my Mom and send you guys directions sometime in-between now and the convention.

Actually, VERY TRUE!!! It would have been ok if my dad had listened to me and just gone to the actual convention center and stayed put, and if Jordan had't forgotten his phone...
