Jay, if changing a theme's color is as simple as colorizing the images that make it up I have a pretty easy method to do that, if you need it. :)

I do too. I have done that before.

Thing is that there are hundreds of images that make up a good theme, and not all of them need to be changed. So you have to do it manually. That is time consuming. :D

I'll keep looking for more.
EDIT: These are the ones I've found after going through the whole list.
Rainbow Pearl and Black Pearl, definitely
Twilightbb, possibly.
Absolution
AcidTech and AcidTech Green
Aktif
CA Orbital, definitely
DarkSky
Digital
Frozen Pheonix matched the colors
Getaway Green
Glass Cyan looks really cool and holographic
Hermes is alright
Polyethylene reminds me of warp speed

Ok, first off, I DO NOT like CA orbital. I think we should use Acidtech or Hermes.

This is where things will get nasty.

Do you have a logo, Sir Emeth?

Working on it in between things. :) It will be very similar to the HW logo, though.

Speaking of which. Those of you with skill at sketching, could you draft up concepts for a blaster rifle to use in place of the HW sword?

They're brothers, Varon, they're going to argue more than the rest of us. 'sides, there's no call for anything nasty since we're all just voicing opinions so that Jay can make a decision. It think, if Jay were a king, he'd be called 'the just'. I think that's what just kings are like... :D

Anyway, Digital definitely has promise. But my problem right now is imagery. Most of those themes are just different colors and layouts and they're all, to me, boring. This forum has definite character; borders, patterns, textures, things that most of the other themes don't have. That's why none of them really seem to fit, and the ones that do, have to be squeezed around in my mind, and the ones I lean towards actually have some kind of imagery. I still wonder if we could do something with ClanzDarkness3, I know it's kind of dark, but it is green (one of the colors, right?) and it's definitely unique. We'd have to change the images, obviously, but I like the layout and style of it.

I was wanting to create a sci-fi counterpart to the fantasy sword. The sword is the icon of fantasy in the same way that blasters are the icon of sci-fi.

Some more tips for theme scrounging:

Focus on the icons, the text, the actual forum interface. Those are very involved and hard to edit. If those are stellar, we can work with everything else.

Ignore the header and background images. We will be changing them, most likely.

Man, so many of these themes are boring. I like Hermes, except for the boring icons. CA Orbital is cool with the stars, but even if those go the format looks good. Rainbow Pearl is unique and acceptable. Could we make icons that are spaceships? They could fire for new topics and be exploding for locked ;)

Making icon sets isn't too bad.

If someone other than me does it. :D Haha!

I would suggest small plasma explosions of different colors.

I'd be willing to try some icons. I've never really done Sci-Fi ones, but I'm not bad at Photoshop CS2. If you'd want me to whip something up, I'm available.

@Jay: about the colorizing....I used to do that to make skins for my Palm Pilot. So if you need colorizing (hundreds of images or not) I'd still be willing to do it. :) What I would foresee as more complicated (or time-consuming) would be looking through the html/css and changing colors in the theme to match the colorized images. :)

That actually isn't too bad. With a combination of Firebug and Vim, it shouldn't be too time consuming. The hard part would be to find all the pieces that need changing.

Wow, I like that idea for the icons. :) If I could design Icons, I'd volunteer. but I can't. So I won't. :) Seriously, though, If anything turns up that I could help with I'd love to. The only problem is, I don't know what it would be. :?

We can't guarantee that we will use yours, of course. But we need something to start with. :)

We will be modeling it in 3D, so any format is fine.

I based it off of the DC-15a blaster rifle from Star Wars.

The muzzle and the stock need some work, but I'm fine with the rest. :)

I completely understand.

EDIT: Well, I've done it again. I went and forgot to attach the file. *blushing smilie*

I might be able to model it in 3D, using sketch-up, but I'm not very good at 3d modeling. :?

Ok, I did two outlines on the computer, and am now stuck for ways to make it look realistic. I named them the HU-1.0, and the HU-1.2 Any guesses what that stands for? :)

I think those are ones you're supposed to copy/use for inspiration/make yours look similar to.

I'm done with the outline, but it's a silhouette, I have in my mind some stuff that will make it look better when I draw it. I'm using parts from the gray one to make it. It isn't exactly as boxy as some of those, because I drew one side on and it looked like a box with a handle. :?

EDIT: AAARGH!!! What is it with me and forgetting to attach items??

What if you made it as wide as the stock? As in have it extend down in front of the handle.

I guess you could put it that way. :) The back and middle are good as they are, but if the front was just extruded downwards that would make it great. :)

So, not actually a blaster rifle, but more of a blaster carbine?
