I've made a character for my fantasy novel but he needs some development... I'm going to guess that this is a decent spot to do it.

Name: Nikki
Gender: Male
Species: Valloian (dragon)
Age: 16
Height: 5'6"
Build: Rather skinny, skin and bones. Long but not broad wingspan. Think of a seabird.
Hair: Has short blue and green quills from top of head to tail tip.
Appearence: He is a deep red color with blind, silver eyes. His wings and arms are the same limb. Instead of just a wing claw, there is a hand.
Personality: Why don't I just introduce him? This is getting boring anyway.

Nikki: So, is it time yet?

Me: Soon. All we have to do is wait. Which from what I hear you're very good at.

Nikki: *waves wing* Of course. How else do I survive Zip? The little rascal has me running for my money!

Me: *laughs*

Nikki: Oh what now? You laugh at my torture?

Me: Don't be so naive. I have a bigger rascal at my place so quit complaining.

Nikki: Make me.

Me: Oh? A challenge? I'd normally not, but I accept. *grabs nearest object and throws it at Nikki*

Nikki: *ducks* *wags finger* That's not very lady-like!

Me: Teasing a lady isn't very gentlemenly either. *grins*

Nikki: Touche.

So, you can interact with him all you can. I'm sure he's willing to chat. And just because he's blind doesn't mean he can't see what you're doing!

*a man in a black cloak walks in, eyeing Nikki* Can I have this one, Nick?

Me: That's up to the author. Maybe you could talk to him first.

Vetis: *shrugs* Perhaps. *to Nikki* Greetings. I am Vetis.

Nikki: Nice name Vetis! You can call me Nik, or Snickers like Sea does.

Me: Yes, he has lots of nicknames. And yes... He does snicker a lot.

Nikki: It's the truth, I don't deny it one bit.

Vetis: I'll call you Nikki, if you don't mind. *He approaches slowly* What exactly are you?

Nikki: A Valloian silly! V-a-l-l-o-i-a-n. *smiles broadly*

Me: When did you learn how to spell in English? I though you only knew the Val alphabet.

Nikki: I learn fast alph'a bet!

Me: ??? I half got that...

Vetis: *faintly amused* And what is a Valloian? I've never seen one before.

Nikki: I'm me! That's what I am!

Me: Uh... Nikki? This isn't exactly Facetime...

Nikki: Oh. Of course! I'm a big dragon with HUGE claws and-

Me: Quit scaring him! ==' He's just a human-sized dragon. He looks like a velociraptor with bird legs...

Nikki:

Me: Oh, and wings. Don't forget that there are hands on the wings where the wing claw would be.

Vetis: Interesting. *He circles Nikki, examining him* How strong are you, compared to a human?

Me: Dude... Quite circling him like a vulture.

Nikki: Depends. If it's Sea we're talking about, then most definetly yes.

Me: HEY! Hurtful much?

Nikki: Nah. I'm no superhero... But I can fly just the same!

Me: He's like a vulture in more ways than that.

Vetis: Interesting. *he sits on a rock that wasn't there a moment before* What's your story, Nikki?

Nikki: I'll tell you, if you tell me how you did that! *points to materialized rock* That's cool!

Me: I'm curious as well. How'd you do that?

Vetis: Oh, it isn't true rock. I can manipulate dark versions of all elements. Dark earth formed this stone I sit on. Didn't I tell you? I'm a demon.

Me: WHOA! WHAT?! Get back!

Nikki: I don't know this girl.

Me: *facepalm* This is what I get for having a character that doesn't take anything seriously... Hey NICK!! WHAT kind of work is this? Are you trying to get Nikki possessed or something???

Nikki: She's panicky. So a demon? Cool. So what else can you do?

Me: *pulls out dagger* I've never used this... BUT IN THE NAME OF ELOHIM I SHALL BANISH YOU FROM THIS THREAD!!! *charges* *trips*

Nikki: Need help?


(Whoa. That really caught me off guard.)

Vetis: *spreads his hands in a placating gesture* Relax, Seabird. Nick has my wings clipped, so to speak. I can't cause any real trouble. *To Nikki* Though, if I was free, I could do almost anything I wish.

Me: *sheepish grin* Yeeaah, probably should have mentioned that. Maybe I should hang a sign around his neck, "Warning: Demon". But yeah. He's almost as big a character in his story as the main hero, and he's very complex. So I like to have him meet people.

Me:

Nikki: Well, isn't that convient.

Me: You know he's a bad guy right?

Nikki: He is? Uh... I knew that! ^^'

Me: This must make your novel very interesting. Well... Um... I'm going to go read a book or something. Hollar if you need me Snickers, 'kay?

Nikki: Roger. Hey Vetis, if you're such a baddie, where's your weapon?

Vetis: *looks to me for permission*

Me: *nods*

Vetis: *stands, makes as thought to grab and pull something that isn't there. A massive black blade, wreathed in purple flame and etched with demonic runes, appears in his hands. As the blade appears, a faint, distant howling can be heard, as though of a hundred thousand souls in torment, far away* Right here.

Nikki: *drools* That's... EPIC. Hey, can I hold it?

Me: *Glances up from Ink Heart to Nick*

Vetis: No. You wouldn't even be able to touch it; you'd burn your hands. Even if you could withstand the fires, you couldn't lift it; you'd dislocate your shoulders first. Even if you could find the strength to lift it, you'd go mad from the dark power within it.

Me: *looks back at you* That's a good book.

Me: Meh. I personally like Inkspell the best. I think this one drags on a bit too much if you ask me. But it's a decent read anyway.

Nikki: Dark powers? Wait... That sounds a lot like the sorcerers that summon Vách... *shudders* Not a very nice bunch.

Me: Well, there's one thing he DOES take seriously. *mumbles* *continues to read on bean bag*

Nikki: What, you reading that again?

Me: *doesn't like to be bothered while reading* Yes.

Nikki: Wouldn't it be cool if you got sucked into my world?

Me: I suppose... Hm... That would be cool.

Vetis: *dark chuckle* I'm not very nice, either. Though I can put on a very good act.

Me: *mild glare at him*

Me: No kidding.

Nikki: Be a lady Sea.

Me: He doesn't deserve it.

Nikki: Neither do you.

Me: Still. He's a demon. Enough said.

Vetis: *sweeps a bow to Seabird* You wound me, fair lady. You form assumptions about me without taking the time to know me. I am not the average demon. I seek to reform the Underworld, and largely leave humankind alone. I bear them no malice.

Me: Riiiiight. Says the one who can put up a good act. I don't give a rat's butt about reforms. Never liked politics anyway. Oh, and I'd gladly do it again.

Nikki: ... Chill Bird, he can't do any harm here anyway.

Me: ... Knowing demons enough, I'd find it hard to 'chill'.

Nikki: *concerned* Careful. You know you're prone to stress.

Me: I know, but once you read This Present Darkness your perspective of the spiritual will change.

Nikki: I thought you were reading Inkheart.

Me: Let's just remove stereotypes so that I can ENJOY this conversation.

Nikki: *glomps Sea*

Me: *does a Bethany and falls* Oof! *can't help but smile* What was that?

Nikki: My way of cheering you up.

Vetis: *laughs softly* Don't worry. Even if I did seek to harm you, I could not, here. *he gestures* This place is public. My evil works in secret.

Me: That certainly would make a good villan. I have to admit, I expect a great antagonist from you.

Nikki: Well, villans will be villans no matter what.

Me: THANK YOU FOR DEVELOPING A SENSE OF REALISM.

Me: He actually becomes an angel in another story. The good guy.

Vetis: *smiles* You see? Not entirely without redemption.

Me: Whoa. Didn't see that one coming. My own personal view on demons is that they are unable to become angels again. But that just makes sense in my world. But I guess your's is a ton brighter.

Nikki: Well, isn't this swell!

Me: Well, in the real world they can't, but in his world, they can. The demons were less at fault for becoming demons in this story.

Vetis: *nods* We were corrupted by the Darkness. It was not a prideful rebellion.

Me: *critical thinking mode* Be careful with that... Who knows what kind of message could be portrayed? I'm sorry. Just out of concern. We wouldn't want to lie to our readers.

Nikki: She's trying to say that the idea is great, but be sure to not bend Elohim's truth.

Me: Well put.

Nikki: I try.

Me: Let's see... Well, I have to make sure that Nikki has a tad more realism... But still a lack of tacking things seriously... Like disciplining his brother. Oh! Just talking out loud.

Nikki: Well, I don't like to make the kid sad.

Me: Perfect!

Nikki: Besides, his pranks are rather funny.

Me: Oh, I'm very firmly establishing that that part of it is in no way true.

Vetis: *idly sculpting black fire*

Nikki: Hey! My friend Klydin can breath fire!

Me: You're not supposed to know that yet. >:L

Nikki: Oh. Right. There's the legend about a fire-breathing dragon that led our ancestors from underground, but that's just a myth. There's no way we came from underground.

Me: *giggles* If only you knew...

Vetis: That's interesting. *blows out a thin stream of fire to wrap around his statue*

Me: What are you making this time?

Nikki: It looks like a fish with a rabbit head.

Me: Ignore him. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Nikki: Yes I do!

Me: I hate to burst your bubble but you're... well... blind.

Nikki: *shadow across face* I know that.

Vetis: *who is actually sculpting a dragon wreathed in its own flame, not a fish with a rabbit head* Come here, Nikki. See with your hands.

Me: It's rather pretty. *strokes its chin* Smooth as a baby's bottom.

Nikki: *makes click noise* Oh! Those weren't rabbit ears. Those are horns. It's great! The solid material is easy for me to pick up. Great work on the scale texture. I'm not much for art. Can't do it. But I can write!

Me: Yes, he's a writer too.

Vetis: *chuckles, dispelling the fire statue* Man of many talents.

Me: Who, Nik or you?

Nikki: Himself. No, he was talking about me obviously~! *jokingly*

Me: *slight smile* You're both good.

Vetis: I was talking about him, but it applies to me also.

Me: *lol*

Nikki: Thanks! I enjoy writing. What would your hobbies include?

Vetis: Manipulating mortals. Torturing the damned. Plotting the overthrow of the King of the Underworld.

Me: *goes back to reading*

Nikki: Who's the king? I'm curious. What bone do you have to pick with him?

Vetis: He's been the king for so long, his name has been forgotten. The bone I have to pick is that he is a mindless thug who serves only his own whims and not the good of the Underworld.

Nikki: Oh. I get it. Luckily, Kind Andrel is kind, although I have to question his tax increase. >_> Okay really... Gold doesn't grow on trees! That'd be nice. That'd be really nice.

Vetis: *snaps his fingers*

*A tree grows from the ground, with dark bark and purple buds. One of the buds opens, revealing a gold nugget*

Nikki: *takes gold for the rent* You work quick. Oh the irony!

Me: Be sure you use that for the rent.

Nikki: I will.

Me: .... Yea right.

Vetis: *soft laugh* No need to be so concerned. *he knocks on the bark of the tree. Hundreds of buds open, each with a gold nugget*

Nikki: *lunges for gold*

Me: *grabs Nikki's tail*

Nikki: *falls over*

Me: You don't need it. *looks at Vetis* Can you please put it away? It's a temptation to both of us.

Nikki: *struggles*

Me: Now would be a good time! *holds Nikki down to the best of her ability*

Vetis: *telepathically to Nikki* You can have it whenever you want it, away from her. *he snaps his fingers and the tree vanishes* Of course, Seabird.

Me: *brushes off dirt* Thanks.

Nikki: Whoa, what? What is this? You would do that?? Please! I'll get Demiri that firgul she wanted! And maybe I'll get a cake. A big cake for me. >w< *drools*

Me: *snaps fingers* Earth to Nik!

Nikki: Wha? Oh. Uh. Thanks for the rent. And maybe those fancy braces. *_*

Vetis: As easily as you can get away from your writer, you can have unlimited funds. Don't mention it, Nikki.
