My characters are Dani and Aryn. They are sister and brother, and Dani has a mind of her own. Aryn is much more cooperative with me (the author). So please, have a conversation with them, and watch out for Dani's tongue. The only thing matching it's speed is her daggers she throws.

Here is a basic description of each.

Aryn: Aryn fits the typical description of a Arian, with dark wavy hair, clear blue eyes, peaked ears, and freckles. He is 6'1", a bit taller than average. He also has a Grecian nose and a deeper complexion than other Arians. These differences were typical of the Kandra family. (I haven't figured out Aryn's attire yet.) He is skilled with almost weapon, but prefers his bow.

Dani: Dani is very much like her older brother. Her eyes are a darker, deeper blue that sparkle when she is excited. She is 5'7". She has short brown glossy curls, and she has tiny flashing stones in her ears. She wears a shirt, tunic and belt, leggings, and supple boots. (See attached picture.) She throws daggers and knives with deadly accuracy and speed.

So, here is a starter for conversations:

Dani: "Why are all these people here?"

Aryn: "Don't be rude!" *bows* "Allow me to introduce myself. I am-"

Dani: "He's stubborn."

Aryn: "Stubborn? I am not stubborn!"

Dani: "You are too, and thank you for proving my point."

Aryn: "Dani..."

Dani: "Don't be rude! Introduce me."

Aryn: "Fine. My name is Aryn. This," *gestures* "is my sister, Dani. She runs the swiftest, throws daggers the fastest anyone has ever seen, and is the wildest Arian to ever roam the world. She is a trouble maker, essentially."

Dani: "I'm the best story teller."

Aryn: "She is also the cockiest."

Dani: "Aren't you the one causing trouble now?"

Aryn: *sighs* "How about you have a conversation with someone else, Dani?"

Dani: "Hmph! Older brothers. They are so impatient. So, what are your names?"

So are they both your protagonists? Or does the story focus more on one or the other? I'd like to hear a little more about them...their dreams, desires, fears...all the good stuff!

Me: For now my story is focused more on Dani, although Aryn comes into the story a good bit, I think. It is still in progress...

Aryn: What do you mean, "my story is focused more on Dani"? Outrageous! I am older!

Dani: Exactly! So now I get a turn!

Aryn: This is the first turn!

Me: Guys, why don't you give some more information about yourselves without fighting?

Dani: I dream of freedom, and I also have a bit of rebellious personality to me. It is not a good characteristic in a slave, and it often provides *glares at author* disciplinary action.

Aryn: The author hasn't figured mine out yet! *frowns fiercely*

Me: Strike that about Aryn being less trouble...

Aryn: Hey! You could at least figure out my looks!

Dani: My point exactly. Although you are aggravating on occasion *rolls eyes*, I happen to be very protective of you.

Aryn: Which is odd, because I am the oldest anyway.

Dani: Are you afraid of anything, Aryn?

Aryn: Don't you dare tell-

Dani: Look! A spider!

Aryn: AAAHHH! Where?!

Dani: Somewhere.

Aryn: Grrr...

Yes, you can't always predict how characters will enmesh themselves into the story.

It sounds like you're well on your way with developing your characters (though it is an unending process of digging deeper). Thanks for sharing!

Aryn: "What's... spare time? Like, when I'm not working?"

Dani: "Um... I learn about life."

Dani: "Um... Sword fighting, manners, planning to get my brother out of slavery..."

Aryn: "I'm still-"

Dani: "Talk to the Authoress!"

Me: "You guys aren't being very talkative today."
