Everyone remember the four steps to to fixing problems:

1. Identify the problem. (Recognize there is a problem.)
2. Talk about it. (Think about it. Hash it out and find it's limits.)
3. Make a plan. (And set a goal. One scene a month? Finish this fallacy this week?)
4. Enact the plan. (Also known as "Fix the problem".)

I came up with that in chat this afternoon with Grace, and thought it might be useful info for all ye goal setters. :D

Goals for this month? I don't know. Probably get an outline for DWoDEGG written. I'm testing being a planner now.

My goal is to get the first four scenes of my third book done.

If only it were as easy as writing what I just wrote. :P

Awesome list, Katie. :D Thanks for sharing that here!

I hear you, Airianna. :P However, I am always very happy to hear about progress on your trilogy, in part because I know what it means to you, and in part because I have a novel that's behaving similarly. :D ;)

That's cool, Varon! If you write an outline, can I read it? :beg:

Would y'all mind keeping me accountable for my goal of finishing my novel 'Last of the Shifters' this year? :)

Right now, I'm in the process of creating an outline for it... and I want to finish that by the end of this week.

Yes, you can read it. I'll probably post it somewhere on HWSF.

I'll also be doing world-building on a new fantasyish project that hasn't gotten me this excited about fantasy since I finished reading LotR for the first time.

I'm planning on working on it after swim practice today... around 8:45. I would work on it earlier, but my mom keeps insisting that schoolwork is more important. ;)

Well, I've sat down today and hammered out a solid sequence of events, so I think it is going fairly well, all things considering. But yes, this third book has started out being "one of those".

Now I have to flesh everything out. :D

Yes! Go, Abby! Write! :D

As for me, well, umm..... *Long moment of silence* I still need to figure out my goals for the month and how novel writing and the WWW short story challenge will work out. I want to get lots done on True Freedom, but I want to enter the challenge too. For now I'll just write, and work on more of the specifics later.

*frowns and shoves more cupcakes at Abby* Come on now, dear!

Last week did not go well for novel-writing, but this week I'm making myself work on Peter's Angel every day (except Sunday). Even if it's not a lot, I'll work on it, and eventually I'll get back into the flow.

Okay, I've done the math, and I've figured out I need to finish the second draft of Peter's Angel no later than the end of March, if I want to reach my June publication goal. Who's going to keep me accountable?

Well, I only made it partway into chapter ten. I am halfway done the draft, though!

This month's goal is to finish ten and do eleven and twelve. The silly thing has also decided to turn itself on its head, so I also need to figure out how to fix it - hopefully permanently.

Okay, I've done the math, and I've figured out I need to finish the second draft of Peter's Angel no later than the end of March, if I want to reach my June publication goal. Who's going to keep me accountable?

*Jumps up and down with hand raised* Oh! I will! I will! :D

And Firmament is finished and is in my parents' and my final test reader's inboxes. *faints*

While I nervously wait for that feedback, I'm going to be either working on Machiavellian or polishing Never -- not sure which yet. I'll also be worldbuilding for my cyberpunk novel this month.

Maybe. ;) Depends on what my parents and the reader have to say. I guess we'll see! :)

It's time I got back to work on my novel. I've had a big difficult scene that I've been shying away from too long. Right now I'm doing some outlining to figure out how exactly to take this scene, but I'm going to work on it a little bit each day. Even if it's just some outlining or freewriting. Poke me, peoples. I need it.

Once I know where I am going with this hard scene and what comes right after it, I'll set a more specific word count goal, which you guys can also help keep me accountable for. ;)

That sounds like a good plan, Mae. :) So, what do you plan to with it today? Outline?

I iz going to race Aubrey, that's what I'm going to do. Originally I was going to say I would finish part one of PoY before she finished part two of PA, but now she's going to finish Part One before moving on to part two, so that messed me up, but one way or another I shall keep pace. (Which I think means completely finishing the rewrite before she publishes the third book... *sigh* She works faster than me.)

She used "iz" in combination with the "twisted" smilie. I'm worried now. o.O

*is happy with any goal that involves PoY* :dieshappy: Well, for a rough estimate, I'm hoping to publish book 1 in June, book two in the winter/spring, and then book 3 at the end of next year... Theoretically.

'kay then... I just have to finish PoY Part One by June. That's 3.5 chapters... I could do it in a week if I could get my act together.

If I could have the whole thing publishable by the time you finish the third volume of PA I would be happy indeed. But I'm not holding my breath or anything. I seem to revise at a snail's pace.

Haha! Well, I haven't got anything read yet, but when I do I'll certainly want you. :D

*scurries away from Leah's twisty face* I'm working on LR right now, though!
