Hello all and everyone else. I thought it might be a good fundraiser for my missions trip to have a sort of raffle over the internet but I'm not wholly sure what to raffle. I know if this were an HW raffle I could give books and fluffy stuffed dragons but I want to extend it to my other spheres as well. With that in mind, if you were a normal person, what would you want to win in a raffle sponsored by a teen with meager funds and the ability to make stuff?

I look forward to all your attempts to be normal (don't hurt yourselves) :D

*sits down* *puts green tartan thinking cap on*

1) Handmade cards. (I'm not exactly sure what you could do here, but thought I'd toss it out there. Maybe an Easter card, depending on what time it goes out?)

2) Coloured pencils.

3) Knitted and/or crocheted things. (If you knit or crochet, that is. ;) )

4) Origami. (There are some rather easy-to-make origami pieces. One problem would be shipping, though... :? )

5) Candle holders. (Glass candle holders aren't very expensive - try a craft store. Paint it and put a small candle inside.)

I'd suggest going to a yard sale to look for small knick-knack things that are in fairly good condition that you can repaint. :D And check craft stores like Joann's or Hobby Lobby for small things.

Homemade cards was what came to my mind too, Elly. :)

Jewellery? Necklaces, bracelet; some of my friends make earings for people, although you might need special tools for that? :?

Yes, to make jewelry you need a couple kinds of minature pliers. There are a lot of options for the tools, but don't think you need every one of them, for it only really takes a couple if you just want to make one style. For making earrings it takes findings such as fish hook wires and other styles, and also little pins shaped like nails that are found with all of the other needed tools in the jewelry making section. Bracelets take wire, crimp beads or crimp tubes, and also require tools. Necklaces take pretty much the same stuff used to make bracelets. With all of this, you can also make things like key chains, too. And, Joann Fabrics has the best quality in the findings, and also runs sales a lot. They even offer jewelry making classes that teach you all of the basics on how to make everything.

(If you're wondering how I know all of this, it is because I make jewelry myself.)

And, if you want to make origami as a prize, if you can figure out how to make a peacock from the instructions, it would be pretty rare and neat. I also do oragami, and I have done a lot, but have never conquered the peacock. It may look easy, but it isn't.

These are good ideas guys. I was thinking the first prize could be a souvenir from Panama and I wanted the other stuff to be rather tropical or at least related to the trip. Keep them coming, this is really helpful!

You could also get some really nice looking round rocks (they even sell rocks such as these at Menards, believe it or not) and then paint them to make garden decorations or pet rocks for paper weights.
