This thread brought to the Fantasy forum by request.

Princess Arante Weneve of Historical Fiction wrote:
Many of us love to write but hit times when we feel too lazy to write or just put our writing aside. Sometimes this happens because of lack of motivation or a person tends to procrastinate a lot. We are told in the Bible that:

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

We are meant to have someone to be an accountability partner. Having one in the writing aspect can help get a novel or two finished.
I want to dedicate this thread for people who are trying to find an accountability partner. Not just in writing but it can be about life in general.
If you want an accountability partner to help motivate you in your writing sign your name below the dotted line. :)

..............................................................
Accountability partners:

AzlynRose (Aliza Rose Mimetes)
Aleena
RunningWolf (Lycanis Mimetes)
Aldara (Aldara Mimetes
Varon (Varon Netzah Mimetes
Hayley (Elly of Zoriah)
Danko Sandai (Danko Aman Mimetes)
Dreamer Donna (Renna the Gray)
Astronomer
Lord Tarin
Sir Kenton
Lord_Herobrine
..............................................................

EDIT: Sienna on the historical side came up with a very good system for this. Here's what we did:

Sienna wrote:
1. On the list of names above, find the names directly above AND below your name. (Note: if you are the latest member, you will be added to the bottom of the list. You need only PM the person above you. When the next person joins, they will PM you, and that will complete your quota of 2 partners.)

2. PM that/those people and ask them a) what their writing goals are, and b) how you can pray for them in their writing.

3. Continue to PM them regularly, as a reminder that you have been praying for them. Ask them to keep you updated on their progress and their new obstacles or hardships. Allow them to freely rant their frustrations or delight with them in moments of freely-flowing prose.

4. Ask them if there is a goal they would like you to hold them accountable to. If they tell you a goal, make sure you know the deadline for it. Then continue to pray, and send them reminders as necessary.

New members can add themselves on the bottom of the list. They'll begin with one parter (the person above them), and then when someone new joins, they will be able to have 2 partners.

Happy keeping each other accountable, guys! :D

Blessings, Sienna and Azlyn.

Count me in!
How exactly are we doing this? By pm? Or are we all just prodding each other on a regular basis with encouragement? Any ideas?

Azlyn: I think stickying it was a good idea.

I'm not even sure if the HF side had figured out those questions or not.

Ehh, good question. :? I think it might help if we each put down some ideas/what we want from this system. I need motivation to write/edit/world build every day except Sunday and any other day I mention ahead of time. So for the most part, if I had a accountability partner that wanted those same things, I think we would do something like this: We set a minimum amount of writing/amount of text edited or proof-read, and try to meet that goal each day, sending the completed work in a PM. We wouldn't have to read through the whole thing especially if either of us did a lot that day, just make sure that it's not something like : aldkfjqekfjaklrgro9gbuwejnmdfoj. o.O Of course, there are ways people could 'cheat', but hopefully those that join this wouldn't do that.

If the daily requirement isn't met, there are several made-up names to call your accountability partner, and vise versa. :D Oh, ok, maybe not that. Hmm, I guess there are many ways to motivate eachother to keep from failing, and that will have to be figured out between each team, but here is a possibility:

Competition: each day that you meet the requirement, you get a certain number of points, for writing extra you get a few more points. Whoever has the least points at the end of a given time must, uhh, do something? Or maybe the person with less points just loses. A variation could be where teams combine points and compete against eachother, but this would require someone that keeps an eye on the teams to make sure no one cheats...the rules can be changed a number of ways, and I'm sure there are better ideas people will come up with once this has started and they get a chance to experiment...I hope this helps at least a little. :/

Oh, and another idea is, if time allows for both accountability partners in a given team, they could ask eachother to help revise or share thoughts on a piece of writing as well.

Just a few questions I've been thinking about...

How should we 'pair up' or whatever? Like how should we decide who to team up with and keep accountable?

When should we do this? We have an even number of people now, do we need to wait for more?

I'm not trying to be impatient by any means, I just was curious. (does anyone even know the answers to my questions? :beg: :D )

Wolf, I can try and answer, but really, we still have lots of stuff to figure out with this system.

I think this thread is mainly for people who are looking for someone in particular to hold them accountable. I think we can start choosing partners whenever, it is based on personal opinion. From my point of view, the purpose of this thread is find a accountability partner and let people know you are looking for one. It doesn't exactly have to be other people on the list if you don't want it to. Then you and your partner (when you find one) can communicate privately to push each other on to your goals. At least, that's it from what I've gathered.

Thank you for the answers, I realize we're still figuring this out, I just wanted to have a better idea of how it might work.

Sienna on the historical side (Evenstar on here) had a wonderful idea about this. I said I would bring it over here long, long, long, LONG, ago, but I never did. :P It's here now, though.

Sienna wrote:
1. on the list of names above, find the ones above and below (or the one nearest, if you're on the top/bottom).

New members can add themselves on the bottom of the list and keep up the chain via PMs.

What we ended up doing on that side was bolding the names of those who had responded to this thread to make sure they are actually living and breathing before PMing them and pairing up with people. :D I'll do that on here.

I like that idea! So by commenting on this thread again, we're affirming that we're still active and interested in this plan?

So how long do we want to wait before those of us that have reaffirmed our need of this go ahead and get started? Do you feel the same as I do, that even with the awesom Dangerous Quest we would still benefit from PM accountability?

I think the three of us could go ahead and start, and if more people come they can jump in too. Whaddayallthink?

I think PM accountability's in the way Sienna suggested on the other forum is still very beneficial. :D

Should we PM people that 'signed up' here, in case they signed up and forgot to subscribe? Or should we just keep waiting and seeing if they show up again? :?

There's no harm in poking them, to remind them to check the thread. :)

Probably PM those who have bolded names, because the people who have not been here most likely don't know about the new system.

Teehee! I think the idea is that everyone ends up with two accountability partners each. So go ahead and PM whoever you want. I have a HWHF accountability partner there too, and it's really fun.

Since 'all' is Aldara and I with bolded names, that is fine with me. :D You can go ahead and send PMs without asking on this thread if you want, understanding that those with bolded names will know what you are talking about. :D

There's a new system?

Yes, and I think this is what it is:

1. on the list of names above, find the ones above and below (or the one nearest, if you're on the top/bottom).

New members can add themselves on the bottom of the list and keep up the chain via PMs.

What we ended up doing on that side was bolding the names of those who had responded to this thread to make sure they are actually living and breathing before PMing them and pairing up with people. :D I'll do that on here.

Are you gonna join us?

Cool. :D We've started, so when you're ready you can PM the people that have bolded names adjacent (sort of) to your name.

I can give it a shot, even though I haven't been on HWHF in ages.

Edit: I think this is the one.

By the way, I have edited in the system we are using into the first post as well, to make it more compatible with people who are new to the system. Carry on! :D
