Terra (or Teresse) is my MC, so I named myself after her :D

Wow, I actually like Calenmirel spelled backwards... Lerimnelac looks cool! :D

Mine would be weird Lady Terra= Arret Ydal

I like my real name spelled backwards better. Autumn= Nmutua

That would be more interesting if the names didn't both start with the same letter :P

Yelhsa... now that one's weird :P

I really like Saira Selym! I don't think PrincessoftheKing would work backwards... Gnikehtfossecnirp... yeah.

My real name backwards would be Ybba .

Gnikeht foss ecnirp...not too bad if you break it up into different words. Sounds like the alien words for 'mashed potatoes' or something. :D

Hey, cool, another Werdna! :D Nice to know I'm in good company :D

Oh cool, so now everyone is trying their names backwards?

I'd be Aleic Esor on HW, and Nerual in real life. Neither of them are particularly inspiring.

I think it's cool how names sound when they're backwards! :) Imagine if everything was like that... oh, I feel a story idea coming on ;)

If you're going to type backwards, wouldn't the word order be backwards as well?

(by the way, don't forget this thread is about usernames ;) try not to be off-topic too long)

Haha, wow. How did I miss all of this? :)

I think I may have already written on this topic, but I'll do it again.

Taiven Knight is the MC in my story. (I know, I'm very original. hehehe)

And I think Taiven Knight would look like this if it was backwards right? Thgink Neviat

The first word looks too much like think... though I kind of like Neviat :)

My real name is kinda weird spelt backwards: Ylloh. (which would be Holly in normal spelling)

My username didn't take long to pick, as it's the one I use pretty much everywhere. I got my it from my sister-- I believe it's a character from one of her pet stories... :) The full name is Amanda Lynn Kondrael, but I didn't want to sound like I played/was the mandolin, which I don't/am not,(actually, I play the piano) so I shortened it to just Amanda Kondrael. :D Spelled backwards it'd be Leardnok Nnyl Adnama. Hmmm. Kinda boring.

Fellows All,

I love classical music. While listening to a piece called "Pavane in F-Sharp Minor, Op. 50" (a pavane is a slow, medieval dance) by the French composer Gabriel Faure, I was visited with the name Pavalini. I thought the name too good to not use in my book, and gave it to one of my character's who was formerly named Evangard.

Pavalini is an old sage-like man. On his forehead he bears the symbol of three green strokes outspreading from his brown like petals on a flower. He tends the Garden of Shabbathell (which means Sabbath in Hebrew), wherein resides talking animals. If you have read my previous posts on Beings and Beasts, you will know that every animal in the Garden was taught to speak by Pavalini himself. They wear clothing, cook their food, carve furniture for their burrows, and speak as fluidly as a human. In his Garden is a special flower called the Livia Blossom. Small, brilliantly colored birds called Faeries (which are no bigger than a honey-bird) feast on these flowers - petals, core, stem, seed, and root - and goblins, who long to eat Faeries, thoroughly detest them and refuse to cross a line of the Blossoms. Pavalini then uses the flowers as a wall around the garden, so that no goblins may enter and attack his beloved Faeries. However, he must be careful of how many flowers the Faerie eat, for the silly creatures would consume the whole lot and imperil themselves to the goblins who prowl just outside.

The flowers serve a second purpose: Once in a lifetime, one of the blossoms will grow with brilliant emerald green petals instead of white. This blossom, when crushed and burned and its ashes mingled with water, will make a green watery paint. If you receive a mark from this paint, it will never wash off (the mark on Pavalini's forehead was done with such paint), and if you drink the remaining paint, then wherever you are, if you utter the name of the Garden, Shabbathell, and a nearby Faerie hears you, it will bring others and come to your aid.

That's probably a longer answer than desired. But Pavalini, to me, represents the prayerful man in the Sabbath Gardens. I strive to become a man of prayer, and Pavalini is a good manifestation of that desire. Any time I listen to "Pavane in F-Sharp Minor," I get the feeling of slowly walking down the sweet waters of the Elim alongside my Savior. What else is prayer but this?

Desiderio Domini,
Pavalini

P.S. If you are interested in learning what the Elim is, read Exodus 15:22-27.

My username is Melody Kondrael; one of the MC's of a book series a friend and I are writing together.

Yes, Amanda in the book is Melody's sister. But Kondrael is not actually their last name, it's their Rank name - pretty much their tribe's name.

And it is kind of a pet story, kind of not. ;) I dare you to tell RP that it's a pet story... ;) She might get after you, Amanda. ;)

All of Melody's siblings have musical names. Melody, Franz (which I keep trying to get my brother Dieki to use but to no avail...), Amanda Lynn, Viola, Vivace, and the rest I can't recall. :) Big musical family. :)

What gave the idea for your username? A story character? Your own name in Elvish? Give us the story. ;)

I got mine from a character that will be for some story which has no certain plot line at the moment.

Mine's easy. But confusing all the same. Janin of Yen is the main character of my second novel; the Prince of Yen. It's also one of the first names I've made up, which is interesting because it's still one of my favorites.

I sometimes feel bad for my failure to be imaginative with my user name, but there's a method behind my blah-ness. ;) I am doing everything I can to keep my identity the same in all of my online destinations, so that if I ever get my name on the cover of a novel-length book, I'll be recognizable. I've been shocked just how many people I've met online who I have the potential of running into at the writer's conference I'm attending next month. It will be much easier to say "Hi, I'm Becky Minor...we know eachother from [insert name of forum here.]" Might work better than, "Hey, I'm Delquessa Ildonian." :D

I do similarly to you, Becky. :D Except Melody isn't my real name, though I keep it consistent over all my internet stuff (either as Kondrael or Melody Kondrael)

Melody Kondrael is the name of 'my' character in a book that a beloved friend and I are working on, and have been throughout our friendship. :) Kondrael is a word that another mutual friend (Calenmiriel!) made up, so I know that no one else on the internet has it. :)

Mine is elvish that means "silver deer." I was acually pretty happy with how it turned out, it's short, and manages to be a shout-out to LotR, silver, deer, and slightly Narnia. Plus, it acually sounds nice, it's not something hugely strange like Wilwarinhwesta (butterfly breeze)

Wasn't there another, older thread about this; time was when? Anyways. eruheran is Elvish (unsurprisingly). When I first signed up I 'panicked'....I didn't want to name my username after my MC in my novel (Zaciré) but I wanted an original name. I decided on an elvish name. Eruheran is elvish for Dominic and means 'bound to the Lord'. Simple as that.

And now it's spread to other forums, so I guess eruheran is a good name for me. :)

Wow, that's funny. Not your name, but the fact that I actually know a girl who's real name is Amanda Lynn (because her grandfather plays the mandolin.) Another musical compound name is Claire Annette (clarinet).

Mine backwards is Nepsa Gnosnoil Gnineve.

That's funny. I didn't know names could sound like musical instruments. Why exactly are we all spelling our names backwards? I'm too lazy to read back... but it's too funny to not give it a shot and see what it looks like. :?

Janin of Yen
Ney Fo Ninaj

Eitak is my real name, that's actually kind of cool looking...

I can't remember if I posted in here before, my quick glance didn't show anything.

Shawn Henderson was a character from a short story I had written recently for school. I figured I would write a fantasy story with that name, but lo and behold, I had a story with a character named Dani instead! By then everyone was calling me Shawn, and I didn't really want to change it. And now I have a character named Shawn Henderson in another story I'm writing. Anyway, I'll stop rambling now. ;)

Unfortunately it enticed Neil of Erk and Sir Emeth to giggle fits every time they read it, which turned out to be distracting so they asked me to change it.

I understand the change, but I still like when Mr. Squishy is revived in threads and brought back up :D

I've had a dozen nicknames that sorta lead up to my username here (and many other user names elsewhere. Well first I went by LJ for a while even though it had nothing to do with my name... then my best buddy started calling me Lotus Elise (after my middle name) so I took Lotus and added it to LJ and came up with Lotus Jasmina Maverick as an alias (though not a character yet) It didn't sound fantasy enough here so I added my first name in elven (please don't go looking it up, I love incognito) and got Riniel Jasmina. I think I'm creating a flower after that name though :D

*is late to the party*

hm... usernames? I've had a variety of usernames over the years. A few of the memorable being Unbridled Spirit (from the "slogan" or something of Kentucky), Elusive Impresser (I even wrote a poem to go with this one. Alas, it has long been lost :() and Silmë (this one was short lived because if you swap one letter... my name suddenly became "Slime" :P)
Of course, I now hold the name of Vilissë :) it's the Tolkien Elvish word for "A person's general personality or spirit" I liked the meaning and the word, so I ran with it :)

You may also find me as Anaeo-Vale (such as on DA) Anaeo-Vili (a mash of my two current usernames) or AV.

note:
Vilisse is Quenya for a person's spirit or general personality.
Mimetes is Greek for an imitator or follower.

and so my spirit is one of a follower

I love this thread!!

My username is from Lord of the Rings; in Lothlorien there is a small golden flower called the Elanor and it is also what Sam names his daughter at the end of the books so yea, that's where I got mine from. :)

I recently changed my username from "Brinkstrigg" which is the name of my MC in my fantasy book.
It is now just my name.

Writing Joe will be so much easier ;)

@Villi: No way! You've been called an unbridled spirit before! I don't feel so alone now :)

I just use some version of my name, of which there are many.

I never got the internet identity paranoia... if someone wants to know my name, they may, I'm me, and I'm here ready to confront anyone who needs my name for some odd ulterior purpose, the point of which I can't imagine. :D

Reiyen is my favorite character from my book. When I first wrote with my four MC's, I also happened to have three good friends, so we each sort of "got" one of them as "ours." Reiyen was assigned as mine. I might even answer to this name if someone were to say it to me...

Wow, everybody has a different story behind their usernames. My username has absolutely no symbolism...I think. It's just my first name and my middle name, since I like they way they sound together and it's my writer's name. Hence, it's also my name on TheRebelution forum...and any other account I make. Unless I'm feeling particularly creative that day in which case I put "Juliet Faith" since I like the name Juliet. And that's my username. :D

I'd respond to Airianna, or any of my other variations, because I'm so used to seeing it in reference to me now.
