I don't know if any of you guys have ever considered making a Facebook page for one of your characters, but it can be a really fun way to keep friends posted on how your writing is coming... or even to brainstorm ideas by stepping into their shoes. What do you think? Ever done it/ considered it? For it? Against it? Pros and cons?

P.S. If you have a page for a character, let me know, I'll be their friend. :D

I have one for Whitaker Riley (a non-fantasy character) and will soon have one for Reuel Dreamseer.

Lady Eruwaedhiel and I were discussing this. It would be so cool to have a FB for our charries, but would we be doing a single account for each character, or would characters be sharing pages? If we did a single account for each person, it might be a little difficult for those of us with multiple MCs ;) . What do you think?

Personally, I've been having FB issues (my account was disabled, through no fault of my own), but I guess this way I'd personally have more than one account to play with. :D

I usually just make one, but if you have more than one MC it wouldn't be too hard to make a few accounts. You don't have to spend a lot of time on it, it's just for fun. :D You do need to make a new email address for each, though.

I have noticed, however that things can get a little strange. Tim (aka Reueldreamseer) ends up talking about himself in the third person on Whitaker's account, I think it's hilarious :D

Wow, that's really funny! If nothing else, this will be very entertaining for our friends. :D

I think that would be really funny! I'd guess Facebook would hate us for making accounts for imaginary characters! Hahahaha! XD

I really don't think FB would care as long as we followed rules. Lots of people have false names on there.

Mine would be difficult, as my characters are unhuman. Do you think they'd object to felines with facebook?

Well yeah, one of the rules is to give your real name. But that's just to make it easier for your own friends to find you.

Can't you sign up with your own name, but have a different username that everyone else will see?

If anyone else is doing the FB for their charries, and nothing that prevents from using a false name, than I'm in. ;)

Oh, Facebook has no problem with fake people. I have a friend who made one for his pet dog, so felines would be fine. :D And thanks, Andrew (aka Armorbearer) for pointing out how just plain entertaining it can be to see the true insanity that lurks in your friends' minds when they get into it. XD I would definitely encourage you guys to try this out, and don't forget to post here with a link to your page when you do!

Lots of people have pets on FB, and if you type in a celebrity you'll get 10 different accounts... so you know they're not using their real names :o

I think that would be amusing... Malka on FB would look like: "Malka is nodding".... Hehe! :D ;)

Well, it's been a while, but I have successfully created a facebook account for my MC, Azura Sylvir. I know that Lady Terra, Taiven Knight, and Lady Eruwaedhiel have made FBs for their charries as well.

It is tons of fun. :D

It is very fun! Here, I'll have Taiven tell you how much fun it is...

Taiven: Uh, what am I doing in this forum? *reads above* Oh. Yes, it is really fun! :) :D

LOL! I love this idea. And I may actually end up doing it ... problem is, I'd have to pick and choose who's allowed on Facebook. ;) My fantasy MCs would probably have to wait since they're not doing much at the moment, just getting backstory and setting completely cemented. But my November novel characters ... hmm. I'll have to consider that. ^.^

Awesome! :)
One of these days I'll have to make a facebook for my characters and add your guys' characters. Although making a new email address every time would be a pain...

I made a Gmail account, it seemed like the best kind of email to make for her :D

Yes, Gmail is pretty good. I'm just too lazy to make an email account I'll never use, to be honest  :D

This is a very interesting idea! However, I will warn you. I believe it is against Facebook's TOU to make an account for fake people. It is also against the rules to share an account amongst multiple people (i.e., an account that both a husband and wife use, or an entire family uses), though few people follow this rule. An actual FB account is to be under one person's name and used only by that person, and each person is only allowed one account. You'll want to check Facebook's TOU page to confirm that, but be careful that you're not violating site rules with your character development.

Facebook PAGES, however, are different. Also, Twitter has no such rules on multiple accounts/accounts for fake people. But from a liability and honesty standpoint, I would make sure that you mention in the bio that this is a FICTITIOUS account. I read in a book about blogs that blogs written from the POV of a fictitious being have gotten in legal trouble because they didn't state that their persona was fictitious. :P
