This is my first try. But seeing everyone else do theirs, I'm curious to try it.

Lorielle
Body.........{Hair...[Color....(Hot Flames)]
.........................[Texture....(Smooth surface of a calm lake)
..........................................(A well-brushed pony)]}
...............{Eyes...[Color....(Bright emeralds)]
..........................[Depth...(A clear shallow pond)]
..........................[Sparkle...(The sun on diamonds)
........................................(Gleam of a cat's eye)
........................................(A child with a new plaything]}
...............{Smile.................(Seeing a long missed friend)}

Spirit............(An eager young foal)
...................(A loyal soldier to his king)
...................(A fragile fawn)

Not a lot. But I'll work on it.

Wow, you caught on really quick! That was great for your first essence map; those were some really good metaphors! My favorites were "a soldier loyal to his king" and "eyes like bright emeralds". Great work!

Is Lorielle your main character?

Thank you, Inesdar. I was kind of like that too, but then I figured I might as well try it, if only just a small one. It's kind of fun, though. Helps me work on descriptive sentences. :)

Hee hee, changed the title so I can add other characters. Here's Seymour's, he's half-elf.

Seymour
Body...........{Hair....[Color...(A hazelnut)]
............................[Texture...(A brushed horse tail)]}
.................{Eyes...[Color...(A tree with faint hints of green moss)]
............................[Sparkle...(The morning sunshine on dew)
..........................................(As dark as stormclouds)]}
...................{Smile....(A kind healer)}

Spirit..........(A watchful lion)
.................(A Candle flame that thrives even in darkness)
.................(A father protective of his daughter)

Any ideas on how else to describe the 'texture' of a guy character's hair? It's easy for girls, but for a guy?

Depends on the actual texture of his hair (literally) ;) .
For instance, for a rough haired person I'd allude to pastures of waving grass, or a lions mane, branches of a willow, things like that. Basically whatever looks hairy or bushy works for me. :D

Or you could PM Lady Eruwaedhiel, she has a long list of metaphors and she could probably help you with hair descriptions.

A mental list hopefully. You went really in-depth with Aaron's essence, that was impressive. I hope you don't mind my recommending your abilities like that, I couldn't help myself. But what I meant was, you are really talented in the metaphor area, so maybe you could help with ideas. :)

My thoughts aren't always worth a penny. ;)

I'm open to any suggestions. Seymour's was a little awkward because he's got longer than normal hair (being in certain situations that make him unable to cut it). But it could just be me.

Lady Eruwaedhiel, I just briefly looked over Aaron's essance. Those were really cool. He seems like a cool guy. (And, Aaron is just a cool name, anyway ;)

Inesdar, have you been to the Character Introduction thread? The last four pages are occupied by Seymour, Aaron, and others. That can pretty much tell you about their personalities. ;)

Here's one of Cory, one of Lorielle's 'guardians' while she's separated from her parents.

Cory
Body....{Hair....[Color...(The brown of a tree trunk)]
.....................[Texture...(Wind through a lion's mane)]}
..........{Eyes...[Color....(The sky on a clear summer afternoon)
.................................(Deep sapphires)]
.....................[Sparkle...(Starlight on calm waters)]}

Spirit....(A brave hunter)
...........(A cheerful brook)
...........(A soldier's protectiveness for a wounded companion)

It's still small, but it works. ;)

Her house is invaded by the antagonist's henchmen and her family is taken away. Cory comes in through a window and takes Lorielle to his world through the trap door under her bed to keep her and a creature the henchmen are after safe. I say guardians because he's almost always with her (when not in the village they stay at). Seymour and a few other young men pose as her 'unofficial' protectors while everyone tries to rescue her family.

Ok, Sorry this has taken so long Zoey!
But I got an avatar done for Lorielle today. :)

You can see the full sized artwork here.

And the avatar here.

Just waiting for Sir Emeth to approve it and then he'll upload it.

Hope you like it!

For they are not the thing itself; they are only the scent of a flower we have not found, the echo of a tune we have not heard, news from a country we have never yet visited.

All the things that have deeply possessed your soul have been but hints of it—tantalising glimpses, promises never quite fulfilled, echoes that died away just as they caught your ear... I liked Tynx's essence. Very good. And yes, everyone does like the little guy. He's the most popular character around! :D

Zaciré: Lucky.

Me: Get back to your word doc. This isn't character introductions!

Thank you, Terra and eruheran! I'm quite pleased with it, too. I never knew he'd be so much fun.

Tynx: You expected less of me?

Get back to your own story, silly.

Tynx: I DIED in mine, silly.

Whatever, go back. I actually got Tynx from an image I found online. It was just a fox - what Tynx looks like - on a balloon, and in the background is the earth. It's just too cute. ^^

Does The Fox play a major part in your story or is he a minor character?

I make him seem like a rather minor character. He was a sort of pet to the queen of the airship, and was sent down to earth for his own protection, since he's the last of his kind (being watched over by a human, who was adopted by one of the people of the race (which has no name) on the airships). But at the end, he was more important than anyone (save for the queen) knew, as he carried the 'core' (a energy thing that sort of powers the air ship).

Tynx carries the core of all the energy? Not surprised. :)

Is that where his bundle of energy comes from?

Terra- Not quite. It's kind of like an energy source for the air ship. His energy just comes from being young. And thank you!
