Here are the different races and people in my world of Enderion. EDIT: Just for clarity- the first name in bold is the name that I had used in the original version of the story. The second name is the one I've settled on for the rewrite. I just included the original names for comparison.

Monarchy of Sannahet
Uses two languages, the one in the East is the more proper and the west uses a new dialect that is not the official language but more widely used. The people there are strong and good, and are the last 'pure' civilization in their thinking, since Nerandia has fallen. (Not including the Enclave, which they don't count as a country)
This nation is based on: Norway
This country's Name: Sannahet (based off of the word 'truth' in Norwegian)
The people's names: The Sann
Old Name: Hayyim

-----

Tarbiyaan
A nation of incredible horsemen but they usually stay behind the mountains. When they do ride to battle, though, the world should cringe as they are highly disciplined. Though Qaluros has the larger military, Tarbiyaan is more deadly.
This nation is based on: Arabian/Turkish nations
This country's Name: Tarbiyaan (based on the Turkish/Central Asian word for discipline)
The people's name: The Tarbiyaans.
Old Name: Munkaan

-----

Electory of Culvinis
A landlocked country in the center of the world and where most if the trade and commerce occurs. The people are highly cultured yet somewhat easily beguiled by convincing rulers of other nations, in other words, fairly gullible.
This nation is based on: Italy
This country's Name: Culvinis
The people's name: The Culvinians.
Old Name: Vitnea

-----

Nerandia
Was the most powerful nation in the world in ages long past. In the current times it is nothing more but a ruin, the territory is a wasteland. The people were highly intelligent and very strong; most people of Andevianite descent today live in Hayyim or the Enclave.
This nation is based on: Great Britain and the United States
This country's Name: Nerandia (no reason why, just like it).
The people's name: The Nerandians
Old Name: Andevian

-----

Shibaar
The remnants of a civilization in the former territory of Andevian. Through oppression by many of the other nations, the tree-men keep largely to themselves and do not trust others. Their vocabulary and language is simple and is roughly based on the language of Andevian. These are not humans, but do look human-like in form. They do not live in trees but are strong and burly like trees.
This nation is based off of: African languages, specifically Somali
The country's Name: Shibaar (In Somali, 'baar' is tree and 'shib' is silence....so this mish-mash means like Silent tree)
The people's name: The Shibaar
Old Name: Tree-men

-----

The Enclave
A small nation in the far southeast of the world. They are descendants of both the Hayyim and of the Andevianites, and are very proud of their past. They have stayed out of wars in the past but they will play a large part in the final war. They are called the Enclave because they have resisted all communication with the outer world.
This nation is based off of: Switzerland/Denmark (because of the connection to Hayyim)
The country's Name: The Enclave
The people's name: People of the Enclave
Old Name: The Enclave (unchanged)

-----

Véhonas
A nation to the east of all others that has few defining features. The men are powerful warriors and control a vast strip of land even though their population is few. Were they to be attacked head on, Kreatan would probably lose much land but in small combats they are unstoppable. The people are highly emotional but when they have a goal they will not abandon it.
This nation is based off of: Native American culture, specifically the Cheyenne.
The country's name: Véhonas (based on the Cheyenne word for 'noble')
The people's name: The Véhonans
Old Name: Kreatan

-----

Qaluros
The nation which Srugoz has dominion and is the most powerful in the world after the fall of Andevian. Their population is huge and they are very powerful warriors. Using their massive advantage of numbers and organized maneuvers, Zalkorian soldiers are usually very efficient in battle.
This nation is based off of: China/Tibet
The country's name: Qaluros
The people's name: The Qalurans
Old Name: Zalkor

-----

There they are...all about seven or eight of them, I guess. When I gave the original to my Dad to read, he said one of the hard things to remember was all the country names, so I'm hoping to make them a lot more developed in the rewrite.

OK, I guess there are some things I need to clear up. I'll hit your questions one by one: :)

1) The only non-human beings are the dwarves. I forgot to mention them, but they aren't major characters in the story. There are three races of dwarves. The River-Dwarves live in the south close to the enclave, the Mountain Dwarves live close to Tarbiyaan, and the Forest Dwarves live in Culvinis/Vehonás.

2) Tree-men actually doesn't mean people who live in trees. That's why I was so eager to change that name. It means more like tree-like people, who are tall and strong but don't talk much. They aren't actually human but they walk on two legs and look fairly human (i.e. head, arms, etc).

3) The Enclave is called the Enclave because a) they are one of the few pure countries left in the world (The other is Sannahet) that hasn't given in at all to Srugoz (Who rules Qaluros)

4) There are two names because the first name that shows up in each paragraph is what I called it originally. I wasn't happy with the original names and came up with the others (the second bolded names) that are what I'm using now.

So all of these have been conquered by the villain, except for Enclave and Sannahet? Why doesn't Sannahet consider Enclave a country? How did the villain conquer Tibayaan if they are protected by mountains and have the best military? These countries sound awesome! :D

The villain has conquered Culvinis and overrun about two thirds of Vehonás...but Vehonián warriors still resist in the far south-east. But in reality, Vehonàs is overrun, because there is no semblance of government or order, just some guerilla warriors...think of like Indian braves losing their territory. They can still make life miserable for the settlers, but they don't really still 'own' it.

Tarbiyaan....ah, the tale of Tarbiyaan is a sad one. Srugoz (the villain) bought Tarbiyaan's allegiance with money. So they're sort of like mercenaries. (But I wanted it that way because I might make them defect to the other side... :D) So yeah, Tarbiyaan still retains their normal country and order and stuff but they're on Srugoz's 'side'.

Sannahet does not consider the Enclave a country for a few reasons. Firstly, the Enclave was made out of refugees fleeing from the destruction of Nerandia. The Sannahet were descended from the same people as the Nerandians, (the Atí) and thus considered themselves pure. Even though the Enclave people were descended from the Nerandians, who were brothers of the Sannahet, they were refugees in a different place. Because they abandoned the land of Nerandia, the Sannahet no longer considers them descendants of the Atí. Hope that makes sense.

The second reason they don't consider them an actual nation is because up until now, the Enclave has done absolutely nothing in world events. Sannahet has fought several wars for good and is bitter that the Enclave has not joined them in these.

So there's my very, um, long-winded explanation about Sannahet/Enclave. . .if I'm making things as clear as mud, let me know and I'll stop. And if I'm rambling...again, let me know. I could talk for hours about Enderion! :D

You're doing a great job explaining!

Thanks! I really do need to buckle down and write a complete history for Enderion soon. Large chunks of it I've written out for my book but the rest really should be fleshed out so that I CAN explain these things better. :D

Right now, though, I've been working on developing each nation individually (hence the overflow of threads in this forum) and once I'm done with all of those I'll go over them in more detail to make sure I didn't accidentally conflict with my book by mistake. :) Then I'll get to work on the history.

I really like how much work you've put into this history. Great work!
