Post all of your questions about the art gallery here! You can also post requests for new features, or report strange and unusual bugs. :D I've summoned Dieki to this thread, so he can not escape answering ya'll.

This is not a question so much as it is a suggestion...

When you get a "new art in the gallery" notification, it takes you to the main Art Gallery page, where the art is sorted by "Magic" by default. This makes it hard to find the new art. I think it would make more sense if the link in the email went to a page where the art was sorted by "Newest." Just a thought. :D

New art in gallery notifications went away a while ago, due to the increasing volume of uploaded art. Users can no longer sign up to subscribe to them, and while existing subscribers will continue to receive notifications, I recommend you switch to our RSS feed, here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/HolyWorldsArtworkGallery

(Note that we have no plans to discontinue the other forms of email notifications [Comments, stock photo use, etc.])

I can't post comments on art, my own or anyone else's, right now. There's a comment box I can type in, but the "post comment" button is gone. Helpeth? Uploading art is working fine.

*raises hand* I'm having trouble. I click upload photos, but then nothing really happens. All I have is the name of my picture next to the upload photos button, and nothing else. Thoughts?

It looks like Flash isn't installed. Have you uploaded to the gallery from this computer before?

Nope. That computer wasn't used frequently for HWs and such, and I don't think flash was installed.

On my personal computer, everything is updated (including Flash). It might work with this one . . .

I just checked. It works.

Thank you! :D

I've been trying to upload my first piece to the Art Gallery, with little success. I uploaded the file, added tags, category, and description, and it appeared to have succeeded ... until I accidentally refreshed the page, at which point it vanished. So I tried again, with similar results: the "upload" page shows it to be there, while my "profile" page says I haven't uploaded anything, and it doesn't show up when I "browse" the gallery, either. Are first submissions moderated? Is there a file size limit (this file, I noted when I thought of that while writing this post, is 1.2 MB)? Is there some button to "add uploaded files to your profile" that I'm missing?

All submissions are approved by Artwork Gallery moderators. It usually takes a few hours. I don't see any to review right now. When the bar is full (meaning it's done), there's an Upload you click. Did you click that? It's a two-step process... adding the file, then uploading.

No, I didn't, as it looks identical to the one I clicked to start the process by selecting the file on my computer. But now I have. Thanks!

One more thing. It has to be .JPG. .PNG isn't showing up.

Sigh. I suppose SVG is out of the question, then? :)

Thanks for your help, and prompt replies!

I'm pretty sure that SVG doesn't work.

You're very welcome. :)

That is correct. They could support PNGs fairly easily (Albeit converted to JPEG first) if they wanted to, but SVG is utterly impossible with their current image library.

(Though do note I'm no longer on the dev team, so this is all just my opinion.)

I hope this is where I should ask this question, if not, I'm sorry. :/ Anyway, I'm wondering how to upload a picture that I want to use for my avatar to the Holy Worlds Development Folder in Google Docs, it's a picture of a running wolf, thought it might be appropriate for my username, can I upload this for my avatar? If so, how do I?
The picture I want to use is linked to below:

You're welcome. :salute:

(Yea, I know I'm not an art gallery person, but I figured I might as well direct people to the right thread)

I noticed that, when you follow a link to an unapproved image in the gallery, the message under the image says "this image needs approved". It should either be "this image needs approval" or "this image needs to be approved".

Bug note! I'm not sure whether this is cookies or just an issue, but when I'm on the main page and I try to switch from "magic" to, say, "newest" or "oldest" in the search box, the page refreshes, but nothing changes. It's still stuck on "magic". Is it just my family's computers?

Thanks!

@Evening: Roger that :salute: Thanks for letting us know :)

@Ciela: Try clearing your cache (On most web browsers it's Ctrl+Shift+Del) and seeing if that fixes the problem. If not...hang tight and I'll see what I can do =)

Eru, I tried deleting my cache (I had no idea I could do it that way. It was a learning experience), and I still have the same problem with the art gallery. It insists that I view everything tagged as "magic". And while I have no objections, now and again I'd like to view something else. ;)

Every time I go to upload art through the gallery, it only loads half of the page so that I can't access any of the options. All I can see is, "I'm hungry for artwork! Use the button below to feed me!" and that is it. I've already tried clearing my cache, deleting cookies, restarting my computer, and all that good stuff, but it still refuses to work . Any suggestions?

Just below that 'I'm hungry for art work' there should be a little button that says 'add files'. Can you not see that button? It isn't a page, all you can see is that grey 'I'm hungry for art work' and the add files button. There isn't a whole page of anything, so I was wondering if you were just missing the small button on the right. :)

Hmmm, I see half of a button that says "browse", but that's it. After I click it and select the file, nothing happens.

Are you signed in when you enter the gallery, Phaidra? I used to have that issue when I wasn't signed into the gallery. :D

The Rainbow in the Storm- My Blog

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Works in progress:

The Diegosian Mark, 115,600 words (Preparing for Publication)
The Diegosian Rider, 121,400 words (Finished)
The Diegosian Warrior, 15,000 (In Progress)

Under the stock photos is a wee notice which says, to quote: This image is licensed under the HW Stock Photo license, and under some conditions may be used without credit or permission.

Eh...what conditions? :?

Also, is it possible, somehow, to just view everything in one category? :( I went through the stockphotos, from newest to oldest just so it wouldn't be either magic or popularity, but when I clicked on one of the categories under stock photos they were almost all new. I can't be sure that I have seen all the ones I want to see. :?

About the conditions thing... :P We're working on the rules and legal things of the Art Gallery. They're in a hubub right now... /:

As for the other thing, I don't really get what you're asking... /: Do you want to be able to see the Stock Photos in with the photomanips and stuff like that?

Oh.... So would it be alright if I printed 'em up and hung 'em on the wall for my brother's birthday?

I mean...is there any way for me to see everything? Not just what the Gallery selects? If I am in the art gallery proper without clicking on any of the categories, I see pictures. They are picked and sorted out according to either oldest, newest, magic, or popular. The same thing is true when I go into any of the categories. But none of them have all the images that are in that category, I have gone through the entire category, done a search for something within it, and come up with something I hadn't seen before.

Of course you can do that. (: We'd be mean to disallow it.

And that's very strange... According to my understanding those buttons were just a different way of sorting everything there...you are aware that there are multiple pages...? That's really the only thing I can think of... /:
