Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Out of all the Pirates of the Caribbean films this is my favourite. It was slightly different from the others, still humorous but darker. It is rated at a 12, I was slightly disappointed that they felt it necessary to put those slight innuendos in, they weren’t mega bad but they just weren’t needed and a couple were a little :P There was very little bad language in it.

I loved the Mermaids. They were different. One always sees mermaids as beautiful yes, but I never saw them as deadly. They were beautifully made, I thoroughly enjoyed the part with the mermaid's tear etc. I think it was one of my favourite parts.

The music, by Hans Zimmer, as always was amazing!

So, Jack Sparrow is on his way to find the Fountain of Youth, so is Barbossa and also so is Blackbeard. So funny, yet there is a darker side to this one, Blackbeard is evil, quite scary. I didn’t like the Voodoo doll, I thought that was a bit too evil and very weird, but it wasn’t in it much.

So has anyone seen it? What did you think? If you haven't seen it do you plan to?

Favourite Quotes:

Jack Sparrow: You know that feeling you get when you're standing in a high place... with a sudden urge to jump?... I don't have it.

Jack Sparrow: I thought I should give you warning. We're taking the ship. It's nothing personal.

Jack Sparrow: Captain, I wish to report a mutiny. I can name fingers and point names.

I wanted to go to the midnight release last night, but I had school today and camping tonight.

How are the battles?

There aren't any battleship scenes in it, Varon, but the sword fighting scenes are good. :)

No Will? I want to see it. My older sister watched it and I feared it might be darker than the other three.

Ahhh! I loved it! I went to the midnight showing on Thursday with a friend. A tradition that another friend and I started (she has since moved away) was dressing up to go. I've been to the last 3 movies for the midnight showings.

Sadly, the theater we went to wasn't busy at all, and I was one of the very few dressed up. *shrug* I still had a blast though. :D I'd love to show pictures, but for privacy's sake, you'll have to use your imagination. Least to say, it was an authentic costume I threw together using our rendezvous clothing.

Enough of my rambling. ><

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but I'd say it was worth the money to see it. I found, and still find, that "Dead Man's Chest" was still darker than "On Stranger Tides." But maybe that's just me.

There was good humor and "laugh out loud" moments one expects from the PotC movies.

I always applaud these movies for their minimal gore. Although one person is run through, there isn't any blood (as far as I could tell) on the blade when he removes it from his body. (He was a cursed pirate crew member.) Another person is injured and there is blood covering his chest beneath his shirt, but nothing too overly graphic. (This of course depends of your tolerance. I'm somewhat squeamish and wasn't bothered.)

The mermaids were really neat. I assumed they were sirens originally because of the way they acted, but that is beside the point. ;) Modesty could be a factor for some people. They don't wear clothing but the way it was pulled off they have scales all over their skin, the chest is not as pronounced, and their hair is usually covering their front.

All in all, I am still a hard core fan. :D

The way it ended, it appears to be leading into a fifth movie that I will faithfully dress up and see most likely.

I didn't even notice the mermaids were topless until I watched it the second time. (Yes I have been to see it twice shhhhh) It wasn't noticeable really, Dad and Mum went to see it with me and it didn't make them uncomfortable, but I guess everyone's different. :)

I hope they do make a fifth one Calen! :D

I personally didn't have a problem with it, and for the most part they avoided showing it. ^^

Oh! Oh! I really, really want to see this movie. ^.^ Sadly I'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD. My family only sees movies in theaters every once and a while. :(

But from what I've heard, it sounds awesome. Though, is it true Will's not in it? That's too bad. He was one of my favorites. But good 'ol Jack is still there, so it's obviously still worth seeing. ;)

I'll probably give up seeing this in theater to see Green Lantern in 3D.

It sounds like something I'd love to watch {when it comes out on DVD}, but I have a few questions. First, is it essential to have seen all three other movies? Also, my younger siblings {14/12} want to see it as well. Do you think it would be appropriate for them?

My sister went to see it, she is 15 but we are careful about what she watches. I'd say it would be ok, but maybe you should watch it first, in case our standards are different. :)

Hm, ok. And do ya think it would be necessary to watch all of them to "get it"?

No, this is slightly different; it follows on from the last but I don't think that matters. You could watch it on its own.

I will probably get this sometime depending on how the mermaids are done.

Yeah, and I liked the allusions back to the first three like the fight with the fake Jack that reminded me of Curse of the Black Pearl in the blacksmith.
