I would be interested to hear y'all's different takes on Charles Dickens and his books. I used to really enjoy Dickens, and read Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities, and part of David Copperfield. Oliver Twist is my favorite, and strange to say, I've read some parts so often I can almost quote them. I find his humor absolutely amazing, and his characters fascinating. Not to mention his interesting "morals". But he can also be a little melodramatic - and well - boring.
Anyway, what do you think?

I love Dickens! He is probably the best characters writer there is.

I read his "A Christmas Carol," and remember finding it mildly interesting, but mostly boring, when I was younger. But I love his stuff now. I'm currently reading "Little Dorrit," which, so far, is very good. I'm only at the very beginning though.

His plots are expertly made, with plot twists galore. (Or, so I've been told. I really haven't read enough of his works to say that solely from my own experience. ) His characters are well thought out and come alive right off the page. His style is smooth and easy to follow, and his descriptions give you a clear picture of what he's trying to say. Though, some of his narrative goes on, and on, which I personally like, but I imagine some people would find it dull.

Dickens takes more mature thinking than a lot of books. When I was a little kid I hated Dickens. But as I grew older and more mature I started liking him quite a lot.

His writing just makes me laugh! "Sitch a rabbit pie, Bill... with such tender limbs that the the wery bones melt in your mouth, and there's no occasion to pick 'em!" Sorry, couldn't resist!

Little dorrit is my favorit! But I do tend to like the movies of his book rather then the actual books (a lot faster!)

@Ana - The movies frustrate me - and my family too, since I'm always growling about the changes they made, and telling what actually happened.
