Me: It's not very sportsman like if you think that he just commanded Devon to kill someone.

Emuna: *whispers so low almost no one can hear* He's not my father...not really...he's j-just...*sigh*

Devon: (@Terminus) *eyes Davien* Gladly! But, he has a sword, and I don't.
Me: *makes Devon's rapier appear*
Devon: Great. Not this thing. *picks it up gingerly, feeling its weight*

Terminus: *crosses arms and watches*

Emuna: This isn't going to end well...this really can't end well...

Brian: I don't know. Davien seems like a good fighter to me.

Emuna: Devon isn't exactly a fair fighter, Brian...

Brian: So? I still beat him.

Terminus: Stop arguing like children and just watch!

Emuna: *cowers back reflexively*

Brian: Or you'll do what?! Bethy put a rule down! You can't touch us now! So, ha!

Terminus: *glares at Brian* I can't touch you know...but I will. Just wait.

Emuna: *begins to quiver but forces herself to stop* B-Brian.

Brian: It's fine. He's bluffing.

Me: Bluffing? Didn't know you knew that word.

Davien (@Terminus): I'll get to you, later. *Faces Devon* I'll try to go easy on you, boy.

Terminus: *gestures Devon* I think you'll be fighting him today.

Me: Uh, where did Raven go?

Me: She's technically still here, Aemi. Sometimes it takes a day or so for someone to respond. Life, you know.

Me: Sorry! Here I am....I was replying in your "How do I look" thread, Aemi.

Devon: Easy! *pompously* That won't be necessary.

Me: What kind of sword does Davien have? Any cobha?

Me:(@Beth) Oooh! Terminus is starting to sound like Gisbourne. Now I'm anxious to get to him in your book and see how alike they really are! *is working on Chapter 2 as we speak*

Ark: *wanders over to Brian and Emuna* Will you be able to ignore him better if you have someone to speak with?

Me: (@Raven) *chuckles* There actually isn't nearly as much of Terminus in book one as I'm planning on having in book two.

Emuna: I don't know...m-maybe...

Brian: Yes! It would be very helpful, indeed! Right, Emuna?

Emuna: *nods slightly*

Gavin: HAHAHAHAHA! Terminus already has Devon doing his dirty wo-

Me: *whacks Gavin with book* It is ungentlemen-like (and out of character if I'm going by you at the end of the book) to take joy in another's folly.

Gavin: Ow! Come on! Why do you keep whacking people?

Me: 'Tis fun!

Me: Davien has a sword similar to a broadsword, but a little lighter, for easy carrying. No cobha, just practice and long experience. And a strong, fully mature body. (He's about 34.)

Davien (@Devon): Come on, now. Why do you hesitate?

Me: Hmm. Not sure how a rapier will stand up to a broadsword, but I'll work with it. Is he skilled in any other fighting?

Devon: I'm not. My author is. She finding things out about you.

Ark: (@Brian and Emuna) *nods slightly* Tell me about yourselves.

Me: Uh, he's pretty good at wrestling. And probably fist-fighting.

Brian: Well, there isn't much to tell about me. I come from Realta were Emuna and Gavin also hail from. Technically, I am supposed to be a soldier and while I am trained and well capable in the task I find scholarly activities to be of much greater enjoyment...and less risk.

Me: Can't tell you anything about his family because I haven't gone into detail on that in the book yet...not until book two.

Emuna: I don't tell much...

Brian: Don't take offense...I don't Know very much of her past either.

Davien: *starts tapping foot impatiently* These authors are so...restrictive. We aren't allowed to do anything without them.

Me: Sorry, sir. I guess we might as well tell more about you, while we wait.

Davien: *exhales forcefully*

*Mahlia walks in*
Mahlia: Hi, Davien! What's going on?

Davien: Mahlia! I told you to stay put and wait for me!

Me: OK. Looks like Devon has his work cut out for him. Would you like the first move?

Ark: (@Brian) No offense taken at all. I too prefer to keep quiet about my own past. *tries to think of something else to talk about*

Me: Uh, okay.

Davien: Mahlia! Go back, now!

Mahlia: No.

Davien: Stay over there, then. *takes a hacking swing at Devon*

Devon: *blocks with the strong part of his rapier and shoves Davien's sword to the ground*

Davien: *keeps arms locked and slings Devon over shoulder*

Me: Wait, what? If the slash was coming down, and Devon blocked it, how would that give Davien the leverage? Just trying to understand.

Me: Sorry, he twisted his sword quickly around Devon's, so that his arms were under Devon's.

*Mahlia goes over to stand by Emuna*

Me: OK, I'll work with that.

Devon: *lands lightly on his feet behind Davien* *taps him on the shoulder* *quickly lunges as Davien turns*

*Davien spins around, blocking Devon's lunge and at the same time pushing him back to the front.*

Devon: *backs off, taking the defensive*

*Davien takes a low swing at Devon's legs.*

Me: *is extremely tempted to insert a Taekwondo move, but Devon doesn't know it, so I can't*

Devon: *jumps up as the sword passes under his legs* *pushes his sword against Davien's collarbone as he's (Davien) still bending over, causing a small wound*

Me: I don't plan on killing him, even if Devon has a chance....unless you don't care

Davien: *His sword passes under Devon's legs, and he continues the swing, spinning all the way around, so twists away from Devon's sword. Backs off.*

Davien: See what I mean about authors being restrictive? *Lunges forward again to knock Devon's blade out of the way*

Me: But this is educational. I guess it's okay to make a killing stroke, because he won't die. But he would feel humiliated.

Devon: *shrugs and gets rid of the sword* *steps to the side and grabs the guard of Davien's sword and twists, disarming him*

Me: I'm so sorry, Aemi, but I shall have to leave you there. I'm logging off for the night now. Check back around 9am PST tomorrow, and I'll hopefully have posted something new.

Me: That's okay. I need to go to bed, anyway.

Me: I'm back! Okay, Raven, time out, time out.

*time stops, all characters freeze in place*

So, did Devon use his hand to twist Davien's sword away? Does he really have enough strength and leverage to make him drop it? Also, by "gets rid of sword", do you mean gets rid of his own sword?

Me: Hehe...I missed a lot...*grumbles* early bedtimes are the worse. Anyways, *catches up* *nods* Okay...

Terminus: *watches fight sternly*

Brian: (@Ark) What about this new villain? Umm...Fallen?

Emuna: Hey, Bethy, didn't you have a villain named Fallen?

Me: No!...okay...yes, but it's a working process and it's not even in your book... How did you know about that?

Emuna: I'm in your head. I know all.

Me:

Brian: *chuckles* Stop trying to scare her, Emuna. She can get revenge with the pen and ink...

Me: Yup!

Gavin: Who we talking about?

Me: *whacks Gavin with book* Keep up!

Interesting. But a dance battle would be more interesting.

Define dance battle. It sounds intriguing.

Since most of the original inhabitants of this thread are gone, I'm considering bringing back my original charries . . . but I'm not sure . . .

*While Davien and Devon are frozen, Mahlia starts a conversation with Emuna*

Mahlia: Davien is the best sword fighter ever. The best I've ever seen. Although...he's the only one I've ever seen. Til now.
You have pretty hair, Emuna.

It is just like a regular duel, but non-lethal (unless you want it to be, like in LXD). Think of it like a competition between two musicians, like dueling banjos.

Just dancing. Freestyle.

I would pull in a bunch more of my characters, heroes and villains, if we were going to do that. A League of Heroes against the Forces of Darkness.

A dance battle or a game of hide-and-seek would be interesting. Not at all sure how it would work, though.


Ark: (@Brian) What about her? *tight voice*

Me: (@Aemi) Broadswords have guards poking out on either side of the blade. Devon grabbed the guards, and used them to twist Davien's hand palm-up, and then even farther to the outside of his body, to make him drop the sword. It's a...modification of a Taekwondo self-defense. I think he would have been strong enough. And yes, he got rid of his own sword. He was never very schooled in sword, so he got to a place where he wasn't sure what to do. He's always more comfortable with grappling-type fighting. Anyway, there's what happened. You can decide if it passes or not.

Me: It passes. Time in! *characters unfreeze*

Davien: *high kick, leaps up, hooks leg around Devon's neck. They start to go down*

Me: Cool move, Davien!

Me: OK. This is out of my training experience now, so I'm going to have to make something up. *thinks hard*

Devon: *spins as he falls so that he lands on his back instead of his face* *breakfalls* *brings one hand up so it holds onto Davien's leg so he's not choked* *punches Davien's side hard with the hand that's closest* *uses the temporary decrease in strength caused by the surprise of the punch to use Davien's leg as leverage to roll him over onto his stomach* *leaps up and onto Davien's back, straddling him*

Me: Good one, Aemi! That was hard to figure out. I realize that I did a lot of moves there, so you can feel free to interrupt them.

Me: I am so behind....if I miss your comment my apologies a million times!

Brian: (@Ark) I don't know...why is she so evil?

Emuna: (@Mahlia) He does seem like a good fighter. Though, be forewarned...Devon isn't exactly fair in his ways.

Me: Okay...I think I replied to everyone in those posts...

Alexis: (@Emuna and Mahlia) I'm not sure if Devon can get unfair this time. No switchblade, and no way for my author to pluck one out of thin air.
Me: Hey!
Alexis: *chuckles*

Emuna: Well....I think the one he used on Brian is still lying on the ground....

Alexis: Brian has it.

Brian: Uhh...okay. Evidently I do have it.

Terminus: *mumbles* Stupid boy.

Griffin: (raises sword so the tip is pointed slightly up readying himself for an attack)

Me: Sorry it took me so long to respond, we didn't have internet for a week!
