Seymour: [Removes second arrow, but not as easily as the first] It hurts... a lot.

Seymour: Hang on. I'm not going to die yet. I can wait. [Walks over to Emuna and kneels down by her] Are you alright, Emuna?

Aris: [Gently lowers Trina down to the ground.] Don't overdo yourself. I'll be back in a bit, call me if you need anything. [Walks over to Jay] Before you go off and get yourself into more trouble, let's get you bandaged up.

Tesmir: [Finishes cleaning/bandaging Shawn's wounds] There you go, little lady. You should be right as rain in no time.

Me: I think I need more nurses as characters.

Tounon: Alright. [Picks up and sword and watches Elanhil, then thrusts at his right side.]

Me: What does a guard position look like?

Rune: Tesmir, have you found anyone yet?

Tesmir: Uh, yeah. I found Tanner, and possibly Lightning, depending on how his conversation of religion with Orrun goes.

Kimun has vacated the thread.

Me: OO! This is epic character development!

Gavin: You know you really fail at convincing us we're alive...

Me: Oh, shush! I don't have to do everything by that book.

Gavin: Whatever.

Brian: You sure I shouldn't go over there?

Me: No! I know how she reacts if you try to comfort her.

Brian: Uhh...okay?

Emuna: *buries face in knees* *muffled* I'm fine...

Melany: Alright, this is going to sting a lot... *rubs weird goo on Mordir's wounds and bandages them*

Aren: *looks from Melany to Seymour and Emuna to Trina to Shawn* We need more healers or an Ibong.

Kaida: If we were anywhere near Glomweald I'd find one...

Aren: I'm not sure it would be that easy. To enter Glomweald is more than a test of strength...

Seymour: [Gently places his hand on Emuna's shoulder] I wouldn't advise keeping what you feel bottled up inside. It only makes you frustrated when others don't understand, and it makes you more liable to be easily irritated. I want to help you, just as much as I helped Gavin.

Rune: [Looks at Gavin and Brian] They remind me of Tesmir and Tounon.

Mordir: It- ah! [Clenches teeth, trying hard not to move away. Grabs a handful of grass as he does so]

Me: [Gingerly removes Mordir's blade] Just in case.

Mordir: You weren't kidding when you said it'd sting. What is that stuff?

Zurik: Whatever it is, it's probably gonna work. Anything that tastes bad or hurts that's supposed to heal you, it's bound to do something.

Me: Where on earth did you hear that?

Zurik: You, probably. I live in your brain!

Me: That sounds creepy. Stop it.

Cassie: I see now. So I make them do all the hard work, then I'll have enough energy while he's doubled over trying to catch his breath.

Me: For a twelve year-old, she's got an impressive vocabulary.

Rune: She only has on here because it's easier for you.

Tesmir: What's Glomweald?

Me: Must have been in those pages I missed... Oh, well.

Ravork: Aargh! I still haven't a duel! Anyone want to fight?!

Brian: Can't you develop her while I'm trying to help her?

Gavin: *still staring at pretty coins*

Me: Well...assuming she's developing as I'm writing the boo-

Thysal - (bristles so that her scales stand out like ice shards) I really dislike those villains. (Glares meaningfully at Kai and Pirzak)

Niarah - Well don't get yourself worked up over it all. (starts leaning casually against Thysal, but quickly abandons the idea)

Ashrai - (Runs forward, beneath the Meriak so that her aim is off, whirling as he does and slashing across her middle with both knives) You don't give up, do you?

Thysal - There's an original line.

Me - Tenacity is a character trait, methinks.

Niarah - Not quite sure what to say to that.

Rahor - And this is how a friendly duel turns into a life and death battle (Dodges the first thrust, gets impaled through the side by the second, and gets a long slice across his shoulder) Ouch . . . Nice one. (Retaliates by slashing upwards, while wrapping his tail about Roel's leg to pull him off balance)

Niarah - Courtesy only goes so far.

Lightning: it's not as hard as it sounds. Rob a priest, kill some royal person sanctioned by a priest, or rob the wrong house and there you are. Instant death sentence.

Me: not always. Tell him about the priestesses.

Lightning: Don't you dare mention priestesses!

Me: too late. I already did. And now he's curious, and will ask.

Lightning: besides, it's not relevant to the conversation. I have a reputation among the common people too, you know, and their opinion has more weight than the rulers. Sometimes I wonder what the truth is, because it is clearly nothing I've yet seen.

Me: Somewhere in the dungeon of a castle there's-

Trina: *leans back against a tree.* I'm fine, thanks. Friends are rare, I appreciate it.

Elanhil: There are several guard positions, the one I am using now is turned slightly to the side, at about a 45 degree angle from you. My right arm is griping the sword, and my hand is positioned forward so that it comes to about the same height as my waist. It is bent slightly at the elbow, and the sword tip is raised to eye level. *flicks the blade to the right, deflecting the blade. Steps back and returns to the guard position.*

Kai: *sneaks up behind Jay and slits his throat*

Me: Ouch.

Kai: I'm an assassin, it's my job.

Me:

Klasina: What's all this stuff about a priestess?

Roel: It was like this from the start, I think. *falls to the ground, but blocks Rahor's sword, then slices at his legs*

Thysal - Jay! (Swiftly pounces on Kai, trapping him under her claws) You're gonna regret that.

Niarah - (Puts distance between herself and the dragon)

Rahor - (Jumps over the blade, but gets one paw cut) Really? Funny you should say that, I never noticed it. Where I come from, duels aren't life or death matters. (Slashes downwards at Roel's head)

Melany: Ground comfry and the juice of crowned jasmine. Prayer is the only thing I've found that heals wounds faster.

Aren: Glomweald is an island in the middle of a river full of crocodiles. Or rather, the forest on that island. It's horribley dark in places. There are creatures there that attack you based on your intentions. At least, that is how the stories go.

Chayn: [Snarls at Kai] You take too many liberties, Phantom.

Aris: I know you don't think it's fine, but that's what everyone says before it gets infected. So just hold still and we'll have it cleaned and covered in a few seconds.

Me: [Trying to visualize the guard position] OK, I think I got it.

Tounon: [Pulls his sword back. Watching Elanhil] Alright, sometihng more complex, then.

Tesmir: Let's define more complex in our author's eyes

Me: [Lands a dictionary on Tesmir] There will be more if you keep talking.

Tounon: [Slams sword into the middle of Enhil's blade, then thrusts forward at his chest]

Mordir: Really? I never knew those two together could sting.

Meriak: [Drops to the ground, laying on her side. One wing is spread out behind her, the other lays partially over her face. Blood can just barely been seen]

Suragore: [Lunges at Rowen]

Rowen: [Roars and swipes at the creatures nose, jumping backward, half flying] Alright, new plan... hold on! [Leaps over the Suragore and spins around, attacking from behind]

Suragore: [Screeches and lashing about, its tail striking Rowen's side, making him back off.]

Rowen: [Takes to the sky, the Suragore following]

Cassie: Inside of a choke? How would I be able to make him do that?

Chayn: [Nuzzles Shawn's arm affectionately, still trying to reassure herself that Shawn's actually there, safe]

Tynx: I'll fight Ravork!

Me: What?!

Tynx: Yeah! I wanna do more fighting!

Me: No. He would be at a disadvantage.

Orrun: [Looks amused at Lightning and Jaynin's conversation] So your occupation would be more or less of an assassin and a thief? What is this about priestesses?

Me: Don't get your head blown off, please.

Tesmir: With any luck, he'll survive. [Looks at Tanner] You ready to beat up Rune? Ravork, would you like to join us?

Rune: Said two-

Tesmir: Aw, come on. At best, you'll have me knocked down within seconds.

Me: I'm glad to see you have a lot of confidence.

Rune: Alright, fine. Three. If Lightning wishes?

Seymour: [Puts his staff down and settles into a more comfortable position] Maybe not, but if you let me, I'll try in any way I can. You did an excellent job of helping Gavin free Brian. I haven't seen anyone so focused on shooting than you.

Zurik: All this emotional stuff is sickening. You people need a life!

Mordir: Don't make them angry at you.

Zurik: I'd like to see them try attack me! Once I get my hands on those tokens, I will be unstoppable! Not even that Daren brat will be able to stop me!

Cassie: Hey!

Zurik: Not you, scrawny, your nosy brother.

Cassie: I'm not scrawny!

Mordir: Really, Zurik? You're picking a fight with a twelve year-old girl?

Kai: *stares fearlessly up at Thysal* Hello, Thysal. How you doin' today? *edging shuriken out of pouch* Really, jumping on an assassin isn't a very wise idea. *suddenly slashes Thysal's side open with the shuriken, pushes him off and leaps away* See?

Roel: *rolls out of the way, tearing and dirtying his clothes some more, and gets to his feet, breathing hard* They are where I come from.

Kai: *wanders over to Chayn* What do you mean by that? *stabs with katana*

Me: @Other authors - If Kai is assassinating too many people and being annoying, I can remove him.

Brian: Hey, Beth?

Me: What?! I need to write what Emuna said!

Brian: Can I have a dagger?

Me: Whatever...on your belt.

Brian: *looks at dagger on belt* Thank you. *grabs dagger* Let's see....from this distance...

*while Brian is aiming dagger*

Brian: Okay...this should work...*throws dagger at Zurik*

Brian: He got me mad. Besides, according to him, he should be fine. *crosses arms and watches dagger whiz through the air*

Tanner: Sure, I'm ready whenever.

Melany: They don't sting unless they're cleaning a wound. It's more so that the wound will always sting than the medecine does. It does hurt more than others but that's because it cleans more. *finishes wrapping wounds* There, that should keep you in one piece for a while. *half smiles*

Me: Best friends are cool. Sometimes cooler than the character itself. *watches in fascination*

Me: You just hush up. @Tesmir: Lightning is now angry enough to do anything, so if you want him weaponless you can have him. Tell him what to do.

Lightning: @Orrun: You could put it that way. They say I'll do anything... if I'm paid enough. Priestesses... well, simply put... the priests of both religions hate me. Any priestess I've met, ordained or not, they simply pray for me. I...

(He give up trying to explain and turns away with a helpless gesture)

Chayn: [Looks down at Kai] I mean, you- ah! [Roars in pain. Snaps at Kai violently, struggling to stand. She slams her down downward, then sweeps it outward, hoping to push Kai away]

Aris: Author!

Me: I know, I know. Alright, here's a temporary nurse. She's a Luvarian, like Seymour.

Corelle: Alright, what's all this now?

Me: A bit of a temporary name. But it'll do.

Aris: Melody, we need your help!

Mordir: [Looks at Melody] Thanks... I'm sorry for snapping at you. I'm not used to being offered help.

Cassie: You're in for it now!

Zurik: [Stares, shocked, at Beduuin] You dare challenge me?

Mordir: I can't believe you just did that. This can't go well.

Zurik: I accept your challenge. I have seen your friend fight. This should be interesting. [Eyes blazing with fury. His cheek stinging from the blow. Catches Brian's dagger and tosses it back] I'll deal with you, boy, later.

Me: Yeah, but he's Kimun's mentor.... I am going to fail miserably.

Tesmir: Pessimist. You're telling me I don't have confidence. [Looks at Tanner] Cool. All we need now are the others.

Zurik: [Draws his blade, pauses for an instant, then springs forward, cutting at Beduuin's side, then twisting his sword upward and thrusting at his arm]

Seymour: [Smiles softly] It's alright. You were doing what you had to. I wouldn't expect anything less. [Lifts Emuna's head gently] You are a very pretty girl, Emuna. This face doesn't need to be marred by tears. Come, let me help you.

Tesmir: Sweet! Come on, then! The more the merrier! [Looks at Lightning] Weaponless? How do you mean?

Orrun: [Laughs slightly] I could see that. Do you enjoy doing what you do?

Me - Isn't that the truth.

Zanya - I owe you, Rowan. (Draws her knife as she watches the Suragore, her hand trembling)

Niarah - Hey!

Me - I'm not annoyed, Amanda. Kai is more amusing than annoying, and besides, I have a similar assassin-for-hire kind of creature. (indicates Ashrai)

Ashrai - (Cleans his blades and walks away)

Niarah - (walks over to inspect the Meriak, rolling her over to see the wounds. She looks relieved) Not poisoned. Are you alive?

Thysal - (Falls backwards) Whoa! (stands up, her scales bristling) First you slew Jay, then you slashed me with a shurikan, then you called me 'he' once more. Now die! (Leaps after Kai with the speed of a panther, snapping at his head)

Me - Let me know if she's too annoying.

Niarah - May I . . .?

Me - No.

Rahor - Ahh. For us, it's a relaxed way of testing our skills against each other. (Coolly waits for Roel to make the next move, slightly breathing heavy)

Ashrai - Finish him!

Rahor - Get a life.

Ashrai - He'll never fight you again.

Rahor - I'm not Ananthi like you.

Ashrai - (shrugs and says nothing)

Rowen: You owe nothing, little one. I'm happy to help. [Whacks Suragore in the face with his tail as it gets too close] But sooner or later we'll need a plan.

Meriak: [Springs up, snarling, and grabs at Niarah's neck]

Me: You're not an oppossum.

Mordir: It worked, didn't it?

Me: Wasn't asking you.

Tesmir: That's you're phrase for us, isn't it?

Me: Seems like it.

Emuna: You....can't help me...*looks back down* It's just the stupid author whom insists on making me develop as the book goes.

Me: I heard the missy!

Emuna: *buries head back into knees* *muffled again* No one can help me...

Me: She's kind of a little out of it right now....call her....depressed.

Emuna: *continues to cry*

Brian: *moves aside so dagger doesn't hit him*

Gavin: *dagger hits his lower leg* Ow! Peasant!!

Brian: What?...you should've seen that coming. If you weren't so busy drooling over your coins!

Brian: Throat, blah, blah, blah. I know. *bends down to take dagger out of Gavin's leg*

Niarah - Ack! (Claws at the Meriak futilely)

Ashrai - Oi. (Spins about and tackles the Meriak, pinning her facedown to the ground and placing his blades at her neck) Niarah! Compassion gets you killed!

Niarah - (Pulls away, her ears pinned back) I thought you killed her.

Ashrai - That's life, princess.

Rahor - Pun intended?

Ashrai - (Growls)

Me - Excellent, everyone.

Thysal - You sound like a villain overlord, you know that?

Niarah - I feel so naive and foolish . . .

Thysal - Say what?

Niarah - Nothing.

Zanya - Hmm. Any thoughts? Maybe we could lose it in the rafters.

Rowen: Hmm, perhaps. With any luck, if we can get it to bash around the rafters so much it might knock itself unconscious. [Makes for the rafters, the Suragore follows closely]

Meriak: [Hisses and tries to turn, but gets pinned down before she gets halfway] Release me!

Me: You think asking will get you free?

Meriak: [Screeches loudly, her wings stiff and trembling with rage. Her wings suddenly snap up vertically, clapping Ashrai on the sides of the face]

Corelle: All this fighting! What's gotten into people these days?

Me: Just go help.

Seymour: [Says nothing, but gently pulls Emuna into a gentle hug, being careful not to get his blood on her]

Brian: *(not so carefully) pulls dagger out of Gavin's leg*

Gavin: Ow! Will you be more careful?!

Brian: *looks up from Gavin's leg* No.

Gavin: *scowls at Brian* Why not?

Brian: Wow...it's sad you can't figure out the answer to that question. *pulls cloth around wound and tugs it tightly*

Emuna: *let's Seymour hug her* You know...you really should get those wounds tended to...

Brian: Why are you so happy? It's almost depressing...

Me: *scowls at Brian* Just go back to taking care of Gavin.

Melany: I appreciate that you accepted it. A noble friend is the best gift and a noble enemy the second best. *Hears herself being called* What's the situation?

Tanner: *stands by Tesmir watching Rune*

Lightning: She made my weapons all disappear.

Me: I disarmed him while he's in this thread so he doesn't run around assassinating people like Kai.

Lighting: I would not!

Me: okay, so that he doesn't' kill the other characters I have here. *looks at Derek*

Derek: what'd I do?

Me: nothing. That's my point.

This thread is getting rather bloody.

Before I respond, would you mind telling me who Zurik is and what he is like? And in particular, his cobha?

Me: Zurik's .... basically human. I haven't gotten far in his details. He doesn't quite have a set world, for cobha (I'm going completely off briefly reading stuff to know what cobha is, so let me know if I've confused it).... hmm, I really don't know what abilities he has.

OK, new plan. Zurik is the villain in a to-be-written series of books. He's the guy who is trying to stop Chase (Cassie's step-brother) form collecting six special items. Zurik wants those items for himself, so he can free/control a monster seemingly far underneath earth (but it isn't really earth, and at the same time it isn't really another world).
Zurik's really just a power-hungry guy. He can stay incredibly calm when facing irritating setbacks (but not for too long, though). He won't hesitate to kill if it's how he can get what he wants.
As for his cobha... he has an almost un-human speed, and can more or less summon up large objects, in a way (boulders, large 'rivers' of water, etc.), but he usually only uses his speed in swordfighting. He'll only use his magic when he feels he's losing.

Tesmir: It's surprising he didn't use 'em right off, then.

Me: That was harder than I first thought. Thanks for asking, now I know a bit of what he can do for the story (might be subject to change, I dunno).

Tesmir: If Lightning feels he can fight Rune without weapons, he's welcome to join us.

Rune: [Smiles] I can't stand here all day, lads.

Chayn: [Smiles slightly, trying not to express her pain]

Aris: Thysal and Chayn need help. And then Seymour.

Corelle: I'll get Seymour taken care of, you two focus on the noble dragons.

Aris: [Walks up to Chayn]

Chayn: No, take care of Thysal first. I'll live until she's tended to.

Aris: We have enough nurses here. Just hold still, alright? Shawn, keep her mind off her wound while I get it cleaned up, OK?

Seymour: [Looks at Emuna] Even I can tell you have a wound bigger than mine. In here. [Seymour taps the area over Emuna's heart] My own needs will wait.

Corelle: You two can have your heart-to-heart talk while I bandage you up. Honestly, Prince, I've had to patch you up more times than I care to count.

Seymour: [Sits back enough to let Corelle work, but still close to Emuna] You try being a Luvarian Prince for a day. All those attempted assassinations can really take their toll.

Corelle: Funny thing is, you mind your own business, so you give no reason for others to try to kill you.

Mordir: [Looks at Kai] You really know how to make people mad, don't you?

Me: It's what villains do best.

Mordir: [Rolls his eyes]

Alright. Bëduuín does not use magic, only the cobha of the elves. Let me do one possible response and you can let me know if it works or not.

There is a shining flash as Zurik's sword is knocked to the side, leaving his wrist turned towards Bëduuin. There is a glimmer along the ground like sun shining on a sheet of water, and Zurik's feet and legs are whipped out from under him. At the same time Bëduuín's left hand suddenly extends and makes a twisting motion with his fingers. There is a sickening crack, and Zurik's blade drops from his hand as the bones in his wrist shatter. "You make too much noise. Think on the ground."

Me: *throws bucket of water on Brian*

Brian: *stands up* What in the name of- Bethany!

Me: What? I can't have bad days too?!

Brian: *scowls* You need to go back to bed and try waking up on the right side this time...

Me: Nope! I need to finish chapter thirteen.

Brian: As long as your grouchiness doesn't effect your writing....

Gavin: She just threw a bucket of water on you, what do you think?

Brian: *sigh* That shall be an interesting chapter...

Me: *skips around dripping wet Brian* *sings* I know what Emuna would say!

Brian: No, duh! You created her!

Emuna: *pushes Seymour's hand away* I would rather wear my scars outside...

Kai: *glares at Thysal* It was Amanda's fault I called you 'he'. *dodges Thysal's lunge* I'm guessing this means we are dueling?

Roel: *keeps guard up, but doesn't make a move so he can catch his breath* You must have few enemies to have time for such things.

Thysal - Duel nothing. (Swats Kai with her claws, then snaps at him again.)

Ashrai - Hey! None of that, Meriak, or you'll find holes in your wings pretty soon. I don't have any purpose for you, but I don't dare release you. (Raises his knife so that it rests beneath her jawline) Maybe we could work something out for your freedom.

Sylvia - @Klasina: So how'd you meet up with Kai? You don't appear to be a rogue like him.

Ember - (Growls at no one in particular)

Niarah - It has gotten a little extreme in here. Is anyone up for a game of any sort?

Rahor - Currently the only enemies I have hate me simply because my father is Arctax Stormclaw. Most of them leave Ilaria alone, though.

Me - Until now.

Rahor - Until my author created Sharthi. Right. (is in a relaxed guard position) Would you like to call a draw, Roel?

Chayn: We can do loops like a spring in a bed mattress. [Winces a growls sharply]

Aris: Sorry. I'll be more careful. I'm not the best of healers, but I know some.

Tounon: [Turns and backs up, deflecting Elanhil's blade, trying to put a bit of distance between them] There's gotta be some way through...

Seymour: Outward scars could hurt just as much as inward ones do. But the best thing about wounds, they always heal.

Me: [Hugs Bethany] Don't be sad!

Tesmir: Shouldn't you be focusing on Zurik?

Me: Oh yeah.

Zurik: [Grunts in pain. Then kicks out at Beduuin's middle. He quickly retrieves his sword, using his unhurt hand. His injured arm hidden in his cloak.] For your information, oh mighty warrior, I had no intention of harming the little runt. [Backs up and looks at Beduuin closely. Then lunges forward, cutting diagonally at Beduuin's left side]

Mordir: You really got yourself into a fine mess, didn't you?

Zurik: [Ignores him]

Kai: *drops to the ground and rolls, making Thysal miss completely* Oh, you mean, you just want me to kill you out right? Fine. *jumps on top of Thysal and slashes her neck open with his katana*

Kai: *jumps up into the rafters* So.... anyone else want to challenge me?

Klasina: @Sylvia - Hey, Kai is nice!

Me: *glances at all the people Kai just killed*

Klasina: After I meet him, I mean. We were both captured by the... uh... author hasn't named them yet. Badguys that were invading our country. Roel released us, and all three of us fled. Over the next few months, Kai and I became good friends.

Kai: And then she killed you.

Klasina: Uh... yah.

Kai: Which I will kill her for.

Klasina: Hopefully not!

Kai: Why?

Klasina: Then we will no longer exist!

Me: *hugs Aris back* I'm fine. HW is like motrin, always makes you feel better and it's grape flavored!
