I currently have "Vord" as my land name, but it's not what I am looking for. It's the name of the land that is ruled by the Great King. It is no match for Tarragon Meadow and Dakalden... will you guys help?

My world.... I don't have a name for at all... I will have to work on that.

I like to help with names,
but I have to have something to go on.
What kind of place is it geographically?
Are the people there sophisticated or homey?
Do they have technology?
Are they primarily farmers?
factory workers?
magicians?
Is it a rich country or a poor country?
Do the majority of the people there believe in the one true God?
Do they mostly live in cities or in a rural setting?
What is the climate like?
Hot? Cold? Windy? Dry? Jungle?
Some things to get you started thinking!

The books or the music in which we thought the beauty was located will betray us if we trust to them; it was not in them, it only came through them, and what came through them was longing. These things—the beauty, the memory of our own past—are good images of what we really desire; but if they are mistaken for the thing itself they turn into dumb idols, breaking the hearts of their worshippers. For they are not the thing itself; they are only the scent of a flower we have not found, the echo of a tune we have not heard, news from a country we have never yet visited.

All the things that have deeply possessed your soul have been but hints of it—tantalising glimpses, promises never quite fulfilled, echoes that died away just as they caught your ear... We cannot tell each other about it. It is the secret signature of each soul, the incommunicable and unappeasable want . . . which we shall still desire on our deathbeds . . . ~C.S. Lewis

I shall do my best!

This particular kingdom is pretty flat with rolling hills and meadows, and a few rivers and streams. I am not sure about oceans yet... I have to map this place out in detail....

They are quite homey.

No, they do not have technology, as we think of it to day. Think Middle Ages... that is the time period it is most similar to.

They are primarily farmers, no factory workers, and no magicians.

It is neither. They all live in houses that are decent, but not huge, but not small. They have everything they need. Not too little, not too much.

My story is an allegory, so the Great King Ralpha Comega (could use a better name for him, too, unless ya'll think it is okay) is the representation of God, Christus is the representation of Jesus (obviously), and I am thinking about having a 'Wise One' to represent the Holy Spirit. I probably will...

Rural

I am not actually sure. My story line is changing, and I think it may actually change the climate of the entire world, or just a few nations... I am not sure yet on that one.

Thank you very much, White Raven. I really needed to think about those little (and not so little) details. :D

I'm a big fan of using root words to help name things and people.
I think that many people have a sort of intuitive understanding of words.
There are certain roots that make us subconsciously think of different words
or names in a good or bad connotation.
For us word nerds it's more than just subconscious! ;)

For instance Mordor just sounds evil maybe it's because of words like:
morbid, morose, mortality, mortuary

Did you know that the French translation for "warning" is mis en garde?
Does that remind you of any other Tolkien place names? Isengard perhaps?

One of the things I really like to do is
take some descriptive terms about the thing I'm naming
and go to an online translator.
Such as this Old English translator.

I put in home and got ham (with a long a). Not such a good country name!
So I tried comfort. There I got elnung, frefran, and frofor.
Of which I much prefer Elnung!
How about "simple"? Unfeald.

While it may not be the most imaginative way to name things
it gives you a place to start!
And because it's YOUR book you can change
whatever words you come up with to suit yourself.
Maybe you don't like Elnung.
But you think Felnang sounds like a great country name. :D

Thank you very much for the advice. I shall try to keep it in mind on my quest for a name.
