So... earlier this evening Riniel was talking to Evening and I in chat and she did not show up in the chat list. I assumed she was invisible or something, but her name appeared at the bottom of the screen even after multiple refreshes. It was visible to me, Evening, Riniel herself, Evening on her sisters (editor) account and me logged out. Attatched is a screenshot demonstrating this.

After trying to figure out what was going on I told her to log out and log back in and that fixed the problem. But what on earth do you suppose was going on?

Some of what you said had me lost, but let me answer what I think you were trying to say and you can tell me if it is helpful. When using the invisibility feature, it does not implicate the second you choose it. If you are invisible when you log in and you go and select visible in your profile, you will have to log out and log back in for the invisibility to actually go into effect. The same goes with if you log in visible and desire to go invisible. Only after you have logged out and logged back in with the change actually take place. Does that help?

I think Jaynin was asking why Riniel wasn't showing up even though she wasn't invisible.

It just happened with Riniel again. She appeared on the bottom of the screen beneath the CR, but she didn't appear on the side during the conversation, even though I refreshed the page and she was participating. :? Vili is a regular member and she saw the same thing, so I don't think it's just an Editor and up thing.

Well 4 minutes later, she is visible, and she didn't leave the CR. :?

There might be a bug in the chat box.

I was going to say could you please submit an official bug report... but then I realized that you just did, more or less. * chuckles * Guess I have been on too many debugging forums. Haha.

I am still confused about the exact nature of the bug though, sorry. Could someone expatiate for me?

Riniel appeared in the list of members who were on below the Chat Box, but she didn't appear on the side bar of people who are in the chat room, even though she was there and participating. Does that help?

It happened again today at around 3:39pm (Pacific time). Same thing; Riniel was active in the chat room and she showed up at the bottom, but not at the list on the side of the chatbox. I have screenshots if you would like them, Jay.

Why is it happening only to Riniel? That's what I don't understand...

Yes, can you replicate this issue with other people?

And what was her visibility status?

The 'who is browsing this room' bit is already buggy, we know that. Haha.

I haven't seen it with other people. What do you mean by "visibility status"? :?

Is she set as visible or invisible?

I believe she was visible. She had said she did not do anything to her account. I could ask her.

When it happened with me she said she'd never logged out of her account since she'd joined. I had her log out and log back in and she was visible. But, without logging out again, she vanished later for these other people.

That is interesting, because I get logged out automatically after a certain amount of time. :? Does she keep the tab up?

Oh, wait, I forgot about the "keep me logged in" option. Never mind.

I've noticed often not everybody shows up in the chat box, but normally they do if they are participating. No-one on right now so I can't replicate it.

This didn't work before, but now when I'm invisible I can just refresh the page and I'm there again. I think it might be fixed.

You mean, when you're invisible in the chat room?

Interesting... :book:

I figured it out.

I replicated it.

If you are inactive in the chat room for an extended period of time it's like the page zones out on you and you go from red to invisible. Then, when you start talking again, you stay that way until you refresh.

But this doesn't make a whole lot of sense, because there've been nights where I forgot to change pages from the chat room and had people trying to talk to me hours after I'd been active.

Further studies must be made... :book:

That makes more sense. I can sort of see how the code would do that. I might even be able to fix it. Haha.

Good to have a programmer's daughter on here. ;)
